Why are people so fascinating about people hacking a system so you can play games you don't deserve? I just don't get it... mean.gif

Getting a virus on a console is not even possible. Account information is never safe, social engineering is a problem for all three console manufacturers. The PS3 hacking debacle wasn't people having accounts stolen, but ability for hackers to have developer free access to the PSN store(everything zero dollars). Most people care about console hacks because this could determine the longevity of that console. The easier it is to hack the more timid developers will be too create games on that console, also people in other countries are fascinated by hacks because the software and hardware are 4 times more expensive compared to ours.

In some recent Nintendo news
Quote:
Nintendo was granted a patent for its Panorama View feature for the Wii U today, a feature that allows Wii U owners to use the GamePad to show a different perspective to what is shown on the television screen.

The Wii U's Panorama View was first shown when the console was announced at E3 in 2011 and the console's demos at the time allowed players to use the GamePad as a window into another part of the game world. It was officially announced at E3 this year. The Panorama View will be available as a paid downloadable app from the Wii U eShop next spring.

Nintendo's patent document goes into great detail about the gyrosensors used to determine the controller's change in position and explains how users can use the GamePad as a "porthole" into the game world.

The feature is somewhat in Nintendoland when you play as an archer in the Zelda minigame which is pretty sick.

I am hooked on ZombiU! The gameplay and Wii Pad usage for ZombiU is amazing! Best Zombi game I have played since Left 4 Dead. The panoramic feature is not useless at all. Ive used it on Nintendoland and ZombiU as well, its a nice new feature.

Can someone cliff notes me on what to get and do for my son's and my WiiU please.

Still sad that it can't be taken from the home to use. I thought it was like a PSP. Great system tho. He won't let it go now. glasses.gif

exactly makes it more realistic esp...in a first person game. It makes more sense that you would need to look up.down, left and right and even turn around to see whats around you. The notion of you just hit a button or flick and you see behind you is unrealistic to say the least.

Well other than netflix and WiiTVii anything else I need to download or set up to get the most out of it?

Also is it safe to say that the WiiU can't leave the house and operate at the same time? glasses.gif

After you DL the long *** intro patch you should be ready to go, if you do have any Ubisoft games I recommend downloading the Uplay app in the Eshop. The app is Ubisoft's answer to achievements/trophies.

As far as taking the Wii U anywhere, while you can't take the gamepad anywhere you want, you can however plug the console into any outlet and play the system on the gamepad entirely. I posted this vid a while back about the possibilities of the mobility of the system.

Buy a portable batteried ac outlet, put it in a bookbag, connect the Wii U and boom you can play it anywhere.

Thank you for that info as it was needed. I guess I'm just sad that it isn't fully portable like a PSP but then again thankful so my son doesn't take it every where. glasses.gif

Data suggests Wii U has sold 2 million units since launch
Nearly 2.21 million Wii U units shipped this holiday season.

While Nintendo has not released any official data on the sales of the Wii U console, VGChartz has compiled data that suggests Nintendo’s latest console has performed fairly well this holiday season with 2 million units sold since launch. According to Nintendo’s own projections, the company wants to sell 5.5 million units by April 2013 and if the 2 million figure turns out to be true, they’re well on their way to accomplishing this goal.

According to these stats, the Wii U has performed 80% as well as the original Wii launch did, but several factors come into play when considering lower stats, including a higher price tag, tepid economy, and several launch title delays. These delays will do well in promoting the console for the early half of 2013, as big titles like Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, and The Wonderful 101 are still slated to be released within the launch window which could spur even more sales.

I know people will say it's all because of holiday sales though.
With 3 solid titles coming soon (Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, Wonderful 101) I know the sales will continue to roll in.

The Pokemon company has some big announcement coming on the 8th that people think is a Wii U title so if that's true then they'll be rolling in dough, unless it's some horrible spinoff.

but ppl keep forgeting a good amount of wiiu games a sensor assistant games so how exactly would that work? Or do you not need the sensor/motion when using the gamepad screen? Also can you play the og wii games with the pad? I mean like will it interact, not need a tv and can view from screen etc....?

Wii U games don't use the sensor bar, so all you need is the gamepad to be in range of the console. And no you can't play Wii games on the gamepad (when you enter Wii mode the gamepad shuts off) which I think is a mistake but maybe they'll make it happen in the coming years when the Wii stops selling.

Pokemon will finally debut on 3DS this October.

They are releasing simultaneously instead of releasing in Japan and then other countries months later.

2013 seems to be the year of the 3DS pimp.gifpimp.gif

From IGN, apparently Nintendo is going to bring their home console and portable console divisions together in an effort to further integrate both systems.

Maybe this means that with future software you'll be able to stream games from the home console to the 3DS on the go kind of how the Vita works. Or maybe they'll actually make the gamepad portable beyond the 25 feet limit so you can take it anywhere you want.
Quote:
In an aim to see more synergy between its handheld and home console divisions, Nintendo is allegedly unifying the two, according to Nikkei.com. If the report proves to be true, the move will mark the first organizational restructure in the company since 2004.

"In an effort to create more innovative and attractive products, Nintendo Co. will combine the development segments for its home video game consoles and handheld game devices," a translation of the report reads.

"The decision comes on the heels of recent releases of the Nintendo 3DS portable system in February 2011 and the Wii U home console last month. With more people using their smartphones and tablets for entertainment via the Internet, including games and videos, Nintendo aims to come up with next-generation game systems that will turn heads."

The move will see 130 employees from Nintendo's console development team joining 150 employees from its handheld division to a single development department established February 16. A new development building is due for completion at the end of the year, next to Nintendo's current headquarters in Kyoto.

"The two teams will eventually be integrated and the segment will be organized by function, such as circuits, mechanisms and design," quotes the report.

"Game system development projects are becoming larger and taking longer to complete as the machines become more advanced. Nintendo apparently has its sights set on speeding up these projects by sharing development processes for consoles and handheld devices where possible and by reassigning personnel depending on the situation. It sees interactions between engineers as a potential hotbed of new ideas."

Nintendo is hoping the move will encourage further connectivity between console and portable devices, including the implementation of handheld devices as console controllers, and game data sharing so players can continue playing their console game on their handheld when away from the couch.

"Such functions are already available with the Wii U, but Nintendo likely hopes to better streamline its products by tapping into such online services as Twitter and video sites."

We've reached out to Nintendo for comment and will update this story when we hear back.

Does the virtual console work for the Wii U yet? I'd be good just playing old games until some new Wii U joints drop.

Nintendo's president Iwata will hold a worldwide Nintendo Direct tomorrow morning @ 9 AM EST/ 6 AM PST to talk about new Wii U titles and services developed by Nintendo.

There's been alot of speculation as of what they'll be showing, my guess is that they're gonna be showing off that Yoshi game that was leaked a while back and maybe a glimpse or SS of the new 3D Mario.

On the services side I think they'll give a release date for DVR and Netflix integration for Nintendo TViimaybe a patch for the "slow" OS and probably even a Virtual Console finally with remastered Gamecube games pimp.gifpimp.gif

This is the direct link to the stream.
