3 hours is pathetic though.

Sounds like the dock helps from that rumour link.
the ds4 lasts 5h, so you should be fine with this.
The DS4 doesn't leave the house tho. Personally I don't see myself ever bringing the Switch out of the house but my 8 yr old is already talking get about when we go on road trips he's bringing it

Of all the games I want to be ported my top 2 would have to be Tropical Freeze and Xenoblade. I never finished TF and never got around to buying XCX.

I hope the graphics on this system is amazing. I really want Nintendo back in the video game battle.

im reading that they wont be 4k like the newest xbox and ps4 will be, but it wont matter because the current ps4 and xb1 platforms are still going to be supported in their current forms long after 4k versions come out so it wont have an impact on developers making "lower qality" video games.

DS4 isn't a portable handheld though. If it's running low, i plug it in or pick up my second controller.
the NS isn't a portable handheld either.

Regardless same thing can be said if the NS is out-about, I'd just plug it into a portable charger.

That's what I did with the wiiu gamepad.

Haven't copped Nintendo hardware since Wii launch day '06. Can't wait for the Switch, Mario looks intriguing. I hope Yooka-Laylee drops for this.

Wonder if DS games will be compatible since this is cartridge based. would be dope to play Pokemon on the big screen since we'll never get an adaptation for the home console.

Also, wonder how much data they're storing on those cartridges for game quality.

About the 3 hour battery life, I'm a big fan of Nintendo obviously since I started this thread but that is terrible. I've even reading that it might just be because devs have been using the devkits and not the retail version so I'm still hoping that it'll be like the 3DS which offers 3-5 hours depending on the brightness settings, streetpass, and other things.

And yeah, they said they won't say anything else until next year but they have the investor meeting next eek so I'm sure they'll talk about SOMETHING lol. Also next year is only 2 on the away lol, they'll have an hour long direct in January I'm sure of it showing everything about the system and all the 3rd parties on board

I'm reserving judgment until I see pricing. However, this system is underpowered for triple A titles. They are basically releasing an updated Nvidia Shield minus Android.

Nintendo's really betting on portability being a selling point but I don't see the target audience using this thing outside the house when they likely have a phone and tablet.

I dunno if we're seeing the same thing but one of it's configuration is definitely a portable handheld.

If you have to take a portable charger every time you take it out then it means the battery life is bad.

No excusing the DS4 because that's pathetic too but like was said before it doesn't leave the house so I can pick up my 2nd pad or plug the charger in.

Nintendo already said no BC for Wii U or 3DS

:smh: That would've been another big selling point. I seriously don't see how great the game graphics will be on those cartridges unless they're like 16gb flash or something.

The ns is a console hybrid that has a portable mode.  A portable handheld configuration doesn't mean the configuration itself is a portable handheld. The wiiu had said feature, but you couldn't walk away too far from the wiiu.

If nintendo comes out with a 4ds, that's fits the definition of what a portable handheld is.

We don't know what the battery life is, you're making conclusions based on a rumor.

Battery life is person-to-person. Battery life on a phone could last someone 8 hours or another person 4 hours.

Also even if this rumor was true, we're talking about a product that doesn't have a legit predecessor. There's no past product you can point to and say, last gen's "NS" had 5 hours of battery life, why does the NS have 3 hours?

What I was alluding to by bringing up the ds4, is that you've made compromises since like you said ds4's battery life is pathetic. You copped another ds4.

Given that, surely you can make compromises for NS's rumored 3 hour battery life.

Don't think anyone is really expecting more than current gen performance since Nintendo isn't know for it. But $300+ for 3 hours of battery life in 2017?
:x :x :smh:

Better include a battery pack in da box.

For those with the new 3ds and 3ds XL, whats your opinion on it so far? I'm in the market for one to pass some time and I've been a Nintendo fan since a kid. Is the region lock a big issue?

I still have my DS and the battery on that is strong! After a few months on standby, it still works!

The Switch looks cool, looking forward to more reviews on it.

I play my 3ds almost religiously. Due to work, it's convenient. If you're looking for something to pass time by it's definitely worth it especially if you have friends that play. The 3ds has a good library of games, and I love the virtual console too because I revisit old snes games which has a lot of replay value imo. It's easy to pick up whenever and just play for a few mins or longer.

The battery life on the go doesn't bother me too much because I have a feeling the portable screen display will be EXTREMELY high quality which will be the cause of the low battery life. I'm also betting on a power cord that can connect to the screen as well making battery life something you won't worry about if your next to an outlet....

aren't the rumors saying a 720p display? nintendo isn't going to put anything higher than 1080p which needs to be getting more than 3 hours in 2017 b.

like I mentioned before the switch doesn't have to compete with the new Xbox 1 or ps4 in terms of power. Companies/developers will still be developing and supporting games for the currently less powerful ps4s and xbox1s which is exactly what the switch will be in league with. So all the reasons that games didn't come out got the Wiiu that were centered around performance.

Let's be atleast somewhat objective here and not try to hate it before we even get solid info
