No gamer has one console anymore. Nintendo isn't going to make a console that gives you the same as experience as something on the market.

i disagree

most products or platforms within their class offer the same stuff

it's just that the nintendo is the least necessary in its class

and I love their core games

they're just few and far between

and for others, I've bought every single nintendo system and still have all of them

but they're console run is on its last leg

I'm a casual gamer. If I could have all the games I want under one system it'd be great. Only having a n64 or gamecube was fine years back but not anymore. Only nintendo game I want is zelda but I dunno if it's worth spending over $300 on.

from the standpoint of it being a high powered ds with better connectivity it's def gonna do numbers

that's not even a question

but how long will people play it?

that's the only question I have

They'll play it as long as quality games are there. The Wii fell off because Nintendo stopped supplying a steady dose of quality games for the system. There was a year when no big titles were coming out and the Wii U was still a year away. Nintendo basically killed the Wii prematurely and that was a mistake. They had no momentum going into the Wii U.

The great thing about the Switch is it's the best of both worlds. You got the improved motion controls and the unique quirky titles for the casuals, but you also get those hardcore Japanese RPG's and massive open world games for the core Nintendo fan. And becasue it's portable every title will have a regular control option. You're not going to be forced to play with the motion controls.

None of these analysts have real insight into gaming. Nintendo just made people camp for a 30 year old system and still couldn't meet demand. Sleep on the Switch if you want to....

Nostalgia and sheep mentality did that.

Tha switch wouldnt have nostalgia to move it.

It's just the illusion of having it all that moves the masses, they don't care about having fun anymore , just more more more, more games than what most of people will ever have time to play in a lifespan, more functions than those that they're capable of explode, but as soon as something seems to have something more people will need it, hoarding on unnecessary features

Nostalgia and (something close to) simplicity it's what this rushed life of ours needs. Otherwise in between politics and stupidity we're all doom.

Yea same here. I'm not your hardcore gamer anymore and don't wanna have multiple systems. I have an Xbox one but barely find time to play that. That's why for me 3rd party support does matter somewhat especially when waiting for the core marios, zeldas, donkey kongs etc. **** I'd be good with a good port of FIFA until Mario came out but I guess we'll have to see if the rumors are true or not :rolleyes

I'm still not canceling my pre order though. Doesn't even make sense when you can just return it or sell it if it's that bad which I doubt it will be.

Walmart just said the Switch is still available to pre-order IN STORE at most locations nationwide right now for people that still wanted to hold one down

Limit 3 consoles per person hahah so good luck

finally got my NES classic. Friend at walmart saw 2 and grabbed one for me and his cousin

Damn, I'm STILL looking for a Classic. I wanted to get one for my daughter and stepson for Christmas, but both me and my girl agreed never to spend a cent over retail on it. Screw the reseller parasites. LOL.

My local Gamestop seems to think that Classics won't be easier to find in store until after they get through the fallout of the Switch launch.

For me, besides Zelda which I already pre-ordered alongside the system, the absolute must haves are:

Super Mario Odyssey (obviously)
Dragon Quest X and XI (not pictured, and IF they make it to the west)
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Project Octopath Traveler (not pictured)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Splatoon 2
Ultra Street Fighter 2
Sonic 2017

I'm also highly interested in Fast RMX, Arms, and 1 2 Switch, those last 2 primarily for the kids and for party games.

At first I thought a portable Skyrim might be interesting, but I've somewhat cooled off on that idea because I already have 2 other versions of it (PS3 and PS4).

But all in all, this should be a nice little library to build in 2017/2018.

Honestly I skipped DQ Heroes on the PS systems because I mistakenly thought it was a strategy game. I just read that it's like Hyrule Warriors but in the DQ universe. This might be one to add to the old wish list, but I also might wait for reviews to see how the Switch version compares to the PS versions.

Anybody picking up the Wii U version of BotW? I remember Twilight Princess being hard to find on GameCube and those resell prices. I think I might snag one up just for the hell of it.

If i dont/cant get a switch than ill be picking it up for the wii u right away. Any one know of any differences between the versions besides graphics?

They need to release a wii version for botw so i can just find my wii in the closet somewhere and use it again.

This video right here captures my exact sentiments about modern gaming and the Switch.

Nothing wrong with being a causal gamer.
Exactly.

He made valid points but everybody has different situations and I'm sure he mentioned that. Personally, I don't even game unless I know I got a few hours to really dig in. I just play something else while said game installs. Not an excuse tho, game installs do suck! He talks about the tech inside the controllers but who really wanted that? I feel like I'm always in the minority when it comes to stuff like that  they could've just gave me a wave bird and I would've been good as long as it didn't cost $70. Hopefully Sony and MS don't try and follow suit like they did with motion controls.

Taking away the "unwanted" tech, the Nintendo controllers are only a few more dollars more expensive than the competition and give you a lot more battery life. No one seems to mention this. The battery life alone is worth the additional $5-$10. I mean Microsoft still sells a charging pack for what $25, and the PS4 controllers only have a 5 hour battery life.

That's what Nintendo claims. Not many people have had time with the Switch to really confirm this or not, but if the controllers do have more battery life then it's still not a big deal because for paying more for Nintendo accessories you should get more.
