There is NO WAY this system launches under $300. The fact that you can play a home console game on a handheld, that alone makes it that price imo. You're getting 2 systems in 1 and some of ya'll are expecting to pay $200...lol.

All I know is that whenever those pre-orders open up, I'm in there. The fact that I can play Breath of the Wild on the go, that alone is gonna have me get the system day 1

If Breath of Wild is a launch game :wow:

That brief snippet of the new Mario looked amazing!

I know they'll port over Mario Kart 8 and Smash Wii U.

looks beyond crazy... i don't like nintendo cannibalizing their bread and butter but console sales have been terrible so they had to do something ...

1 stop shop for developers ... all they see is $$$$$$

Nintendo is considering the switch as a home console first with the ability to sketch on the go as an added bonus. I always thought it was the other way around

While the Nintendo Switch is designed for play both in the home and on the go, Nintendo wants to be clear that it’s a home system first.

“Nintendo Switch is a home gaming system first and foremost,” the company told Polygon when asked if the system was going to impact the sale of the 3DS portable systems. “We have made no announcement regarding the future of Nintendo 3DS.

“Obviously with sales of almost 60 million 3DS portables worldwide, there’s still a huge hunger for new games, such as Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. There are many more games in the pipeline.”

While the answer seems to be Nintendo equivocating a bit in terms of the lifespan of the 3DS, it’s pretty easy to interpret the plans for the Wii U.

“Nintendo Switch is a home gaming system first and foremost”

“We have nothing to announce about the production status of Wii U,” Nintendo said in response to our request. “We announced in April 2016 that as we prepare for the launch of Nintendo Switch in March of 2017, Nintendo will ship 800,000 Wii U hardware units to the global market for this fiscal year. As a result, the inventory of Wii U hardware at retail will become harder to find.

“We encourage anyone who wants Wii U to communicate with their preferred retail outlet to monitor availability.”

The Nintendo Switch was unveiled this morning in a video that showed the console’s transformable controller and ability to travel for on-the-go gaming

Nintendo basically saying that they will still have a handheld system on the market and that the on the go benefits with the switch may be limited. Think battery life...

Like they were gonna flat out tell y'all they were killing off da 3/2ds before da holiday season/release of a new pokemans game.
Just wait till next year when they become harder to find like da Wii U.

Still need some info on battery life and price. :nerd:

Yep, has fail written all over it. Not falling for Nintendo's gimmicks anymore.
if third party titles are coming out in full force why would it matter if its wrapped in a gimmick or not? if you werent interested in nintendo first party games to begin with this was probably never going to be your system.

I'm going to buy it just for the new Mario game alone. Don't really care for the portable functionality but as long as it's still a powerful home console I'm happy. Seriously though, who would take this anywhere with them besides little kids lol.
