What I was thinking about is, since the controller becomes a tablet, Nintendo could also have mobile games on it. they're dipping their toes in the market with Mario, Fire Emblem, and Animal Crossing.

Why not have some popular mobile games playable on the switch, you might not be able to play games online while on the go but you could do so at home or wherever there's WiFi.

If you wanna take a break from console gaming for a bit and play some quick pick up and play games, you can, that gives the system a whole other wave of content to satisfy people and satisfy the casual market too.
The best way for Nintendo to do that is to do what Sony did for the PS4..................open their online marketplace for indie developers.

Nintendo already started their PSN/XBL equivalent in the form of the "Nintendo Network," and they already have a digital-online marketplace for their Nintendo Network as well.

If Nintendo allows opened the doors for indie developers to put their games on the Nintendo Network marketplace, then you have a potential to have indie developers to make those "quick-and-play" style games that are meant for mobile games BUT available to play on the Switch.

If Nintendo is really trying to "re-appeal" to the mature gamer crowd with the Switch, then they need to start reaching out to 3rd party indie developers that are willing to take on the prospects of developing games "such as mobile quick play games" in order to further show the potential of this console AND gain more brand recognition from the rest of the gaming industry.

I'd love to see Rocket League on this thing.

Maybe a RL x MK although that would make for some screwy hitboxes.

Mario Kart 8 is the best game in the Wii U and I feel like enough people didn't play it. The port to the switch will have people late as hell as to how special that game is

Mk8 was bundled with most Wii U's.

I think Splat is the hidden gem.

Nintendo is considering the switch as a home console first with the ability to sketch on the go as an added bonus. I always thought it was the other way around

It will be the other way round in Japan. The west has always preferred consoles so that's why they're saying that here.

If multiplayer for the device is seemless and it comes with necessary peripherals out the box, RIP SONY and M$

They won't be able to dethrone what Sony and MS have taken years to build. Even if they have third party parity which they probably won't, it's still the weaker of the three consoles and with the install base of the other 2, it will be an uphill battle. Not to talk of the pro and Scorpio.

I say at best they match Sony and M$ in the graphics department with their current gen systems but Nintendo has their first party titles as an advantage. If Zelda is launch, Nintendo will move 20 mil units in the first 6 months. Don't let them **** around and have Mario at launch or first month release either. That type of hype had the Wii impossible to catch up to during the seventh gen console race

They won't match the others in graphics or performance but they don't need to as that is not their focus. They need to use their strengths to the max which is their first party titles and portability while at the same time keeping in touching distance of the other 2 by at least trying to get the same third party titles.

Like someone else said too, they should target mobile players hardd. Mobile is what has done the damage to handhelds if you compare DS and PSP sales to their successors. If they can get the likes of candy crush, clash of clans, Pokemon go etc all on the Switch plus their first party hitters like Pokemon then they're in a good position.

It will be the perfect second console for the people with PS4's or xbones and the first for the Nintendo fans.

3DS has been on the market for 5 years now I believe and is sitting on 60 million units sold I think.
I think Switch if executed well can do even better.

We probably won't see a new Smash game for a while unfortunately

i will probably pass on a port of Smash 4

Well some guy from Nintendo tweeted out there will no more news on Switch this year :x

Speaking of VC, I hope they allow you to re-download all your previous purchases. We shouldn't have to pay for something that we bought on Wii, Wii U, 3DS and/or new3DS.

Sony does a great job with this

Nintendo at the moment doesn't

My drop wish list

F zero
Metro id
Monster hunter

Phantasy star online

Its a wishlist though
Super Mario RPG 2 (not Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi)
Super Mario 64 sequel
Mario Kart Double Dash 2
Donkey Kong Country TF sequel
Diddy Kong Racing 2

I wouldn't mind a new IP either. I really just want continuations of great IPs already out there

  • I think I'm going to call the switch the NS.
  • Given history, we're going to have to rebuy wiiu games.
  • I hope the online's much improved. If true, we'd probably have to start playing an online subscription.
  • They had a site for wiiu rewards, now it seems like mynintnedo.com is the same thing for the NS. Given that, I don't think nintendo will adopt anything like xbox play anywhere.
  • Regardless of how good the battery life is, I'd recommend copping a portable charger.

I'm excited for the ports of Splatoon, smash and MK. I purposely didn't buy a Wiiu because I knew that eventually they'd release a new console and it'd be likely to have ports. I can catch up on some old games

My dream game would be a Pokémon Snap 2, although it'll never happen

I just need to see the new Pokemon.
Not Sun and Moon but whatever's after that. I need to see a big jump.

3 hours is pathetic though.
Sounds like the dock helps from that rumour link.
