Wii U's pro controller was extremely legit as well. I put in too much work in MK8 and Smash.

I know a couple of my victims are in here, especially @nawghtyhare and infamouserror

I hated the Wii U pro controller. The placement of those analog sticks :x

Word?? I love it honestly. The grip of it is really nice as well. I'm in love with triggers on em as well. They have me in the zone when I'm drifting in Mario Kart

I don't know, it was an improvement over the gamepad for sure but overall I didn't like it. It's part of the reason I never finished DKC:TF.

Oh if you were me huh... how dare I mentioned Sony or Microsoft in the same sentence as Nintendo. I should be ashamed of myself, right. Get over yourself, its video games bruh...

The point is this. Nintendo seems to have gotten the buy-in from these companies with this device. They obviously wouldn't be speaking highly of the platform if the hardware were not capable. In the past we've seen 3rd party developers show their distaste for Nintendo's hardware even before systems came out (happened with the Wii and Wii-U.)

This is why I said knowing the specs is irrelevant at this point. If they're happy, I'm happy because the games can run on the system and will be there. We're just waiting on the formal announcements which should happen closer to release.

As for Sony and Microsoft being worried, I say they already are. Nintendo announces new hardware code named NX, all of a sudden we get a PS4 Pro and Microsoft Scorpio. The originals were supposed to be the most powerful consoles ever, but now they're not powerful enough... I wonder why???

As for VR not being a gimmick... lets look at the definition...
VR is absolutely a gimmick for Sony, the same way the Wii-mote was a gimmick, the same way the gamepad was a gimmick, the Xbox's Kinect, etc....

Seems you're taking this more seriously than I am. All I'm saying is enjoy the announcement and potential instead of thinking of how much trouble Sony and MS are in because of the switch but you can talk about them as much as you want.

What have the devs said about the Switch. All I've seen is PR Talk without any confirmation of anything. Bethesda even said Skyrim is not confirmed even though it's in the video. Remember EA with the supposed "Unprecedented partnership" with Nintendo last gen for the Wii-U before turning their back on it completely.

Specs are relevant because if it's not close to the Xbone or PS4 then how would you expect to get all the games they do and with the device being portable, I wouldn't expect too much third party wise.

Make of that what you will against the other 2 consoles.

For first party though, you have Nintendo focusing on one platform which is portable and more powerful than the Wii-U. We should finally get the console Pokemon we've all been waiting for.
That's where the real excitement lies IMO, not watered down third party games.



Funny you think the PS4 pro is a reaction to the NX announcement. Cerny already said they started thinking about the pro once the PS4 launched and Andy House said PC's were one of the main reasons because unlike consoles they're a moving target and some of the core players start to migrate once the consoles get older.
That and along with 4K TV penetration is the reason for the pro, to keep those players in the PS ecosystem because the cut from software sales is what brings in the money. Switch had nothing to do with it.

As for VR, by that definition, all games consoles are gimmicks.

This is the definition I think of when people call something a gimmick.

Wii-mote and Kinect have come and gone and only lasted for a few years whilst VR has been around for decades and is only getting better and better.

VR is nothing new and is more than just Sony and games. It's making a big comeback because the tech is now good enough for consumer electronics and looking at the reviews of the major 3 headsets and the games and experiences they bring, I would say it's hear to say.

Where are we getting the assumption that the Switch won't compete with XB1 and PS4 graphics wise? Wii U was below the 2 in terms of graphics so it would make no sense for Nintendo to release a new console and still be below the competiton when we're pretty much halfway through this console generation's life span...

Speaking of which, what generation does the Switch fall under?? You can't say it's part of the eighth generation so it's the first console for the Ninth? A whole probably 3 years before the next Sony or M$ console. Nintendo has to make sure the Switch succeeds....

Nintendo had been doing the same thing for multiple generations now. They don't sell their hardware at a loss. Nintendo has also complained about rising development costs. Lower spec system means lower development costs since you are not going to be running Uncharted 4 type games.

The switch is capable of running Unreal Engine 4, so that basically means it will be a capable machine. So that kills that argument.

Android and IOS run the unreal engine too. What's your point?

My point is it will be a capable machine. It will be able to run most if not all 3rd party games and should have comparable power to competitors as stated in my previous post.

I've never really played Metroid so I can't speak on it but I hope we get a DKC game early in the Switch's cycle. I understand Metroid fans feeling otherwise, it's been forever for them.

This hurts a little lol... Super Metroid is right up there for greatest game of all time imo.
