He averaged 31 9 and 6 in the playoffs, sounds like more of a #3 option if you ask me.

that talent dropoff from KD to #2 after russ went down was the size of the grand canyon. add to that the frontcourt play of memphis' bigs, good night. z-bo and marc showing how two great big men can play well together (AHEM MIKE, PAU AND DWIGHT).

i honestly didn't think kevin martin was that bad and reggie jackson showed he can play scott brooks was really exposed this round with his iron clad rotation.

Question does anyone out there truly believe that this team is better without Rudy Gay? Looking at the current results I can see why people think that but IDK if I'm ready to go ahead and buy in yet. Without him there things have happened that never would have like Poindexter getting all this PT(didnt even know he was this good) and him along with Prince and Daye have done a good job of filling the void that he left but IDK if I would call them a better team. You just couldnt justify giving the 4th option on this team, which is what he really was all this money. Somewhere down the line his contributions, his one on one game in particular will be missed.

I don't think this team is better without Gay either but everyone is going to point to advanced statistics (which suck btw) and his inconsistent jumper. The Grizzlies D is playing lights out right now. That trade still didn't have to be made if the new owner wasn't looking to shed money. Pondexter still could have gotten his PT and the two points still have done what they're doing. For all the hate that Gay gets on here, I'd still find a place for him on my roster. Can't blame him for getting that money. Anyone would take that with that contract in their face.

the "one on one" game hasnt really been successful in this years playoffs
melo, durant, pierce, harden, monte, ... whoever else
i feel like in the playoffs, one on one games only matter for real difference makers, guys like kobe and dirk over the last few years

@Antidope, it's addition by subtraction. On the surface you say no, but the shots he was taking made them less of a team. Gasol wasn't as effective as he is now and the same for Z Bo, even though he was out for a little bit in the season I believe. With Rudy being traded, it forced them to play more like a team, not saying Rudy was totally bad, but him being gone changed the complexion of the offense. I guess management felt that they had another side of the offense that could be just as effective. They gambled and won.
