I'm sending a package tomorrow and since I couldn't find any packing tape, I used the pink duct tape I found at my girl's place. Will the Post Office accept it? I've done a little research (This was after the fact I taped it - I know I should have researched first but it didn't come to mind) and the site says not to use duct tape but it never clearly states they won't accept the package if duct tape is used. I also read that since stamps, etc. can't stick to the tape it's unusable. Should I just keep the pink duct tape that I used on the package? Or should I take 'em off before the mail clerk doesn't accept it?

Thanks

Just for future reference when another NTer is shipping something, I called the USPS 1-800 number before I went to the USPS Postal Office and the lady on the phone said it was acceptable. However, when I went to the post office to actually ship the item, I was told by the mailing clerk to take the pink duct tape off and use USPS's priority shipping mailing tape.

[Immortal Technique]Read, read, reeaaaaaad[/Immortal Technique]

I asked the mail clerk if I could just tape over the pink duct tape ('Cause I knew the box would rip) but he said he wouldn't accept it unless I took the duct tape off.

Ive sent a package before using some high quality nashua duct tape
Cool story brah. The mail clerk must've had it out for me. And it didn't help that the color of the duct tape was pink.

Next time save yourself the hassle and just ship it in one of those flat rate boxes. They'll usually tape it for you.

I was shipping 2 pairs of sneakers and I'm pretty sure none of those boxes can fit in 2 sneakers - and one of the sneakers was in a shoe box. I should of mentioned that, my bad.

The clerk must've seriously had it out for me. I don't even get why they don't take duct tape, it sticks A LOT better than packing tape and it's a lot harder to puncture (Bad news for the person(s) receiving the package when opening the parcel but it's good thing for the shipping process). The only reason I see why USPS states not to use duct tape is because the mailing stamps won't stick/show but other than that it's ludicrous; not to mention the fact that they can just stamp somewhere else.

Oh well, good to know for the future.

Why not? It's obvious now that they take in parcels that were taped with duct tape. I don't see why the color of the tape would make a difference. I even CLEARLY stated to the operator on USPS's 1-800 number that the duct tape was pink - I mentioned it about 3 times. And I was sleeping over at my girl's place and I was too lazy (Stupid excuse, I know) to go to Wal-Mart just for some packing tape when the buyer paid for the item so I used the pink duct tape she had - she didn't have any other tape other than blue painter's tape and masking tape so I thought it would suffice. She saw me using her tape and said "I don't think you can send a package with duct tape." Then I checked online, saw their shipping details page and wrote down the number to call whenever I woke up.

Dude was definitely hating on ma Yeezys.

Kiiiiiiiiddddddddddiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.

Just for future references
Like I said, I was shipping 2 pairs of sneakers. I'm certain those self-made non-flat rate boxes (I know it says flat rate but I know they won't take it as flat rate since it was altered) can't fit in multiple pairs of shoes. I know because I used to know how to make those type of boxes but it's been so long since I sold sneakers. Thanks a bunch though, the tutorials in the archives weren't showing the pictures and I was lost.

No prob. Yea only for future references so you don't find yourself in that rut again.

Even better invest in a roll of brown paper and some packing tape. Never know when that need will arise and it saves so much money on shipping. And you can definitely fit two boxes - more if you're adventurous.
