Oh best believe the human factor will put an end to bots. Nike already did, the footsites will follow. Be patient.
Has Nike put an end to bots?....its further integrated its stock system making web and mobile based exploitation inevitable. captcha was suppose to be the human element needed to make playing fields leveled -- and that hasn't slowed bots down.
Captcha isn't needed when an online retailer does an online draw. That's the direction footsites need to follow in order to prevent bots from exploiting the online cart system.

any standard online checkout process can be hacked and manipulated. we have to get down to simple cause and effect. the web is wide open. start at the bottom, do not allow multiple purchases with the same credit card. make everything a drawing, again one purchase per CC. its really not THAT hard to phase out the resellers/bots. the problem is that these companies are not proactive enough and don't really care who purchases what. at the end of the day, they sold the product.
Which is why CONGRESS has to step in. This isn't happening with just shoes. Bots are being used with a variety of products.

As long as the Nike raffle is truly random then how would a bot manipulate that? Seems to be the best option. We as consumers don't like it because we don't feel in control but if it is the fairest approach so be it.

Bots serve as a catalyst to yield maximum returns thus generating further hype to create the insatiating demand for their products.
Disagree. Bots do not create the hype and bots are not the ones who yield the maximum returns. It's the people who create the hype on social media, and the manufacturers who build on the hype by creating limited quantity. Bots are merely a vessel to make it easier for people to beat other people to the spot.

If they ain't tryin to phase out the bots and the resellers, what will eventually happen is that UA's will get better and better and those that lose out on retail pairs will purchase from factories that make UAs which are identical to retail pairs.

Nike will then be forced to make enough supply to meet demand and this is what will phase out the resellers. Or what Nike can do is to constantly make pairs where, for example, the Bred 1s (or any other hot release for that matter) will drop multiple times throughout the year instead of once every 3-4 years.

Here's a thought that one ever talks about it, what's the average life span of a sneaker head?

The average person that buys sneakers lasts about 2-3 years in the game maybe even less. By the time they get old in terms of being in the shoe game and they are fed up with complaining about not getting shoes they leave and some younger kid enters. New to the game and not bothered by the bots or whatever they have to go through to get sneakers because it's new and it's fun to them.

It's an endless cycle that won't end. UAs will never be more popular than an authentic pair of shoes from Nike. Something will always be wrong in the beginning of the shoes cycle, until the AAA replica comes out 3 months later sometime... And even then one small thing is off, always.

raffles online are jokes if theres multiple entries. same for nike's the draw.

It isnt fair when 1 person wins multiple times or 4 wins /10,000 entries

1 entry/person was the rule nobody follows

You can't get mad at Nike for the supply and demand they created.. Sure they were given a gem with Jordan but they did a lot of things to make the market it is the way it is today...

What y'all suggest 2 million of every pair and they sit on the shelves cause all of y'all waiting for em to go on sale cause they "sitting".

Hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahh

Get outta here with that, you don't like the procedure?? Don't buy sneakers. Buy something else.

I may be alone in this thought, but I don't want it left up to chance (the draw) as to whether I cop a shoe or not.  The draw is a good idea to counter bots, but it seems like there should be a better way. I'd rather it be in my control when it comes to copping, rather than them pulling my name.  But like many have said, as long as the shoe sells and the sites make their money, they don't give 2 *****.

I take it all you guys coming up with improvements came out with a L. Sall g but y'all need to pay that resell now before it hits 400+
Those who pay $350-400 for this shoe are flat out stupid imo and have no self control.

Impulse gratification at its finest.

Heck, I can spend $2K on multiples of these shoes without hurting my budget right now if I wanted to, but do I really need the shoes or is it the hype that's telling me I need the shoes?

People need to be wise. These joints are a luxury not a necessity.

problem is everybody got differrent amounts of bread. ppl who want to spend big $$$$ on anything they want will set the record unless theres millions of ppl who will spend only retail.

basically the rich (no damn on $ spent) will keep resellers in business

I'm not rich but I save so I can buy as many as I want at retail. Selective buying helped me out for this year

Sneaker consignment shops ruined the sneaker game.

They made the resell average higher because of the cut off the top they need to make. Don't be mad at Nike be mad at them.

Nah, lots of people are with you on that too. It all comes down to verified individual accounts first and foremost. Couple of ways to approach this, and sure, people will game the process too. But if somehow this can be figured out or drastically improved, I don't think that draw vs. manual cop will have much of an impact on chances.

I know of one website in China RIGHT NOW that sells Bred 1s that are 99.9% identical to retail pairs. So close that nobody I've shown them to can even tell any difference. Even the perforation holes on the toebox are the exact size as the retail pairs, all the way down to the diagonal lines on the sky blue part of the insole and the trademark "R" on the tongue.

And I've combed through just about every UA fake Chinese website that exists. There is one that replicates Jordans like no other. And I'm willing to bet that the owner of this factory has a direct connect to people at Nike.

And that "one small thing is off" that you speak about, well, it's so minor that it can't even be detected by sight and would have to be inspected with a microscope and compared next to a retail pair.

True, but I guess it comes down to retailers actually caring enough.  All they see is money.  Now if they were losing money because of this, we would see an immediate change.

  1. create hype by leaking some info & pics, generate buzz
  2. limit quantity for their hyped most popular products
  3. retro them couple of yrs later to pull in more prospective "new" customers
  4. profit with sales and limited quantity hype, so that those who missed out on last versions release will attempt to cop the next retro version
  5. repeat from 1

smart

Your right. I've seen AAA get in flight club, I'm not doubting you I'm just saying it will never be a go to for buying sneakers even with Nike's demand the way it is.

I have seen people move AAA replicas for ridiculous amounts of money but they still fake sneakers.

I agree, draw won't have much of an impact on chances however what it does eliminate is the illegal nature of what bots do. Draw makes it fair for everyone involved.

I may be in the minority here but I'm a major proponent of taking it back old school - scrap any raffle procedure (to eliminate backdoors, employee cheating, etc) and do FCFS for every release along with online drawings for all the footsites.
