i can understand simple clean color ways like Black/White, etc but the thing I can't understand is the hate for Black/Gums, Celtics, Lasers, Laneys but love for NYC or Jeters. Is it a city thing?

no, its a "limited release" thing. 

jeters could hold sentimental value to some, but definitely not for all who bought them.

The support on vans are ehhh. When I used to skateboard or longboard I preferred to do it in nike dunk SB b/c of the cushioning around the ankle and tongue.  If you're a feel the board or petals kinda person take the zoom air insole out and replace it with a flatter one.

if support is that important then you need an ankle brace.
