Had my royals for a year and a half and wear them probably 3-4 times a week. I clean them on the regular, and started to notice a slight discoloration on the toe box. Can't really tell unless you're up close and really stare at it, but it's such a bummer since scoring another pair is close to impossible :/. Anyone else start to notice the leather wearing out?

I am no where close to as big of a fan of 1s as most in this thread but the only way I am paying 1k for a pair of J's is if Mike signed them and hands them to me. I love the man and his impact on my young self but that's insane to me. Even "if you got the money to spend " or whatever. Just my two cents. I do enjoy reading this thread and seeing everyone's collection.

Before the hype and explosion what were the OG 1s going for? Just curious...

For shoes you wear that much invest in a pair of cedar shoe trees and leather conditioner.

airsakuragi is 100% 17/18

glad it makes sense now.

I only like J's if they have some kind of meaning to me from when i was a kid. 1's mean so much. Reminds me of the struggle my Mom had raising me with zero financial support. Getting a $60+ pair was insane back then, so i always got the crappy $20 pairs you'd see on sell. Like Chris Webber said in Sole Man about the kid that was always fresh and had the black/red 1's, "oooooooohhhhh." I was not fresh at all through high school. But now, I'm fresh as F for a 40 year old

Now i go ham on shoes because i can afford them. Its her fault.

^^ OMG this is exactly my history...

I'm 28, got the wifey and lil man now... growing up I didn't live in the states and getting Jordans in my country (DR) was impossible; the price was outrageous and they were all fakes. We don' have FTL or any of the stores there but I had my cousins who would travel back and forward and pass along their worn J's to me sometimes 1-1.5 size too big  but I would still rock em. I had the chance to watch Jordan play (on TV of course) and watch him over and over always peeping his sneaks while on court... good times indeed. I still remember coming to the states back in '02 and my mom wanting to buy me AND1 instead of the flints 9s that had dropped during that summe, she would be like those are $125 you know you can buy 2 of these $50 shoes and even 3 pairs different colors off the SALE rack  I love my mom but she is cheap as hell  Anyways those were the first "new" jordans I ever had... funny enough I picked them up DS about 1-2 months ago just off nostalgia itself. Right now I got a bunch of 1s on the collection and some 3/4/6... moving forward like most of ya'll will reduce collection and probably keep 1s only which I can only rock over the weekends due to work.

I gotta shoutout the AJ1 thread :pimp: just read the past 10 pages and not surprised of the older crowd here... and glad we all share the same AJ1 love

This is the thread stays open in my browser :nerd: I wish I woulda been more active back in 04 when I joined... I had my own share of "noob" on the Royals thread but I finally got it figured out... I think... #NT works in a miraculously but I'm glad to be part of the community and little by little getting to know others.

I"m a size 8.5-9 and I see a few on eBay every now and then (Chicago's and Bred's). Pairs pop up but I do not see the complete package often (shoes, box, retro card for '94 pair, etc.). If they have everything it costs an arm and a leg.

I'm with some of the others in that I'm okay without having the complete package. If I find a good deal on '85's or 94's I go for it. I think I paid $500 for my DS Chicago '94 pair and I've never regretted it. They're tanks and hold up just fine.

When you say "OG", you mean the '85 pairs right? The term gets thrown around so loosely that I sincerely can't tell anymore

If you are though, I remember them typically ranging from between $200-500 depending on the seller (pre-explosion, I feel like more people sold to actually just get something out of their space that they weren't wearing as opposed to seeking that almighty dollar at every opportunity), condition, size, etc.

Welp, maybe that guy who traded his DB off wasn't so stupid?
I'll still say they're trash limited or not.

even if it is 1 store only (which I doubt), they're still trash and not worth either 1 of the DB's. Wouldn't even trade the ugliest DB 2's (imo) for the pinnacles.

So since Vegas just opened a new flight 23, maybe the pinnacle is their version of the NYC 1
