Bulls offseason Thread

I actually like the idea of starting Gibson and bringing Noah off the bench.

Noah playing out of position in that starting lineup plus he's been pretty hobbled most of the season.

And this way Gibson doesn't have to fight that hard with Mirotic for minutes.

Noah can play less minutes and get healthy in the meantime.

Either way, Bulls got to get their defense right.

I think they more or less let the opponents score the same amount of points in wins and losses. Only difference is when the Bulls have won their games they've been pretty dominant offensively.

The way things are going with their defense right now, all it takes is for one player to have an off day on O and they'll lose.. Most games lately, it's been Rose that was off. Today, Jimmy was off his game..
 
I was there last night with great seats... We had a great 1st half and then Jo went down, no one besides Pooh could hit ANYTHING, and we couldn't board to save our lives :smh:

It felt good to be in the arena though :pimp:
 
One of the most frustrating wins of recent memory. Probably Rose's best game since he's returned. Swear he's either hot or ice cold with regards to shooting 3's. He has the ugliest shooting motion though, hate when he leans forward to shoot. And we need to run that PnR more with Gasol/Rose.
 
Rose and Pau balled tonight. That PnR with them in the third was a thing of beauty.

Cant come out sluggish on defense tomorrow, if so we gonna get ran off the court.
 
I'm just not happy with the defense. Basically, in order to win, the Bulls have to be on point with their offense. If they stall, even for a quarter, they'll probably lose.

If Rose didn't catch fire from 3 tonight, we would've lost. Smh, we all know D Rose is not going to shoot like that all the time..

Literally no excuse to be this bad on defense. Our bigs are playing like hot trash. Jimmy has disappeared. This team isn't coasting; they're completely disinterested. Seem to be pretenders at this point.

I actually think tonight was the hardest I've seen the Bulls play in a minute. I felt that playoff vibe.

The Hawks are just better.

I do agree that the bigs are where the difference is. They are a bad matchup for the Bulls.

Actually, both the Wizards and the Hawks are.

To match up with them better, Joakim has to be 100 percent, and I'd actually like Pau to play less minutes in these matchups to emphasize D

Even still, as a collective whole the Bulls are just playing straight BAD on both sides of the basketball. Our bigs are getting abused and even though Pau had a great game numbers wise the dude shouldn't be playing 40 minutes a night. He's 34 and can't close out on shooters fast enough to effectively alter shots. Let Bairstow get like 5-10 minutes man.

And Jimmy is on a milk carton. He's been MIA on both sides of the ball. I swear it's the same thing every game, pick and roll our team to death and no adjustments to even stop it. Something's gotta give. Either that or we're not as good as we thought.
 
Haven't looked at the game log but it looks like Thibs brought Jimmy's minutes down some now that Rose is playing more

I think if the Bulls played the way they played last night against any other team that would've probably been good enough to win. I fully believe the Hawks is just that nice this year. They killed Washington by 30, another pretty good East team - and the same team that beat us twice recently.

I think to beat the Hawks in the playoffs you gotta have the team at 100 percent. I'd say we at 85 percent right now. We can make up the other 15 percent by having our two starters back - for starters - and the defense has to start clicking.

Ideally, what I'd like to see happen is Gasol's role on the team dials down a tad, and Noah gets healthy and his role dials all the way up. To have a fully functioning D you gotta have a strong pick and roll defending big and that's not Gasol. That's the thing that sucks, even when Noah was on the floor this year, his pick and roll D hasn't been that great and I put that on his knee and ankles :smh:

Jimmy is in a slump not just offensively but defensively. Dont know whats up but we need him to snap out of it. He also isnt getting the calls he used to get on some of the flops he was doing.

Pau is terrible in PnR defense but that isnt going to change overnight. Rose is playing great the last few games. Noah should sit and come back after the ASG break.

Offense has been hit and miss lately, but the biggest issue is we cant get stops. I knew the defense would slip this year adding Rose, Pau, and Mirotic but i never thought it would be this bad.

Hopefully we are healthy by March so we can get a month with a full team before playoffs.

By the way E'Twaun needs ALL Kirk's minutes!
 
Huge game tonight. I think the Bulls come away with a win. Cleveland reloaded and will be dangerous. Need to keep a lead on the standings against them.

I've always been critical of thibs but now is where he needs to earn that title of an elite coach.
