Bulls offseason Thread

So not even talking about what I can't control anyway, do you all find it strange that this interview was setup by his PR company? I think its called Wasserman group. KC said earlier that local beat writers were told he would speak as he got closer to return and then US Today slides in with the exclusive.

On another topic, are steroids known to prevent injuries of any sort?

Yes, one article is of the opinion that the interview was premeditated to generate interest in Rose by his PR company and that it is no coincidence that Rose chose to speak so close to the all star break when interest is sharpest among media and fans. I'm not so sure what to think of this but I hope the article is right because that would mean there is definite plan to return this season.

On a side note, some part of me thinks the drip drip of information from Bulls management combined with the vague comments might be by design to generate interest in his return. It's just stupid to me that everyone would keep saying that he is "on schedule" without a target date in mind. There has to be a tentative target date. How can someone be on schedule without a schedule?

Amel, great point. I never understood why they keep saying that and not giving a target date. Plans are changed all the time. If anything , just say there was a setback and we'll see him later.

And why is there a need to generate interest. Everyone is already waiting on him. I thought when all "the return" commercials ended months ago he was close. If this is some media ploy started by Rose, his handlers or the Bulls, its wasteful. Every Bulls fan and majority of basketball fans been interested in his comeback since he went down.

Cake, I don't know of any pressure that's out there. The team has constantly stated that he would come back when he was ready. The owner was very clear that he wouldn't come back until there was no doubt about his health. And he has been extremely quiet. I can't work out what pressure would exist.

Captain, I tried figuring that out throughout the game. Our Bulls have just been playing like horse**** lately. Maybe its the trade rumors, maybe its "the return" but I think now is a good time to take a break and hopefully come back refocused.

Sure glad I didn't jump for those Cavs and Heat tix now

If Rosé doesn't return this season, it is not a physical issue but a mental issue. Beyond ten months, he has no more of a chance of tearing his acl than before he tore it last April. Ten months is more than a conservative time frame for an acl recovery given adequate rehab so I will reserve judgment until March.

I don't think this is a mental issue. Rose even said it himself that mentally he's there. Not worried about cutting, players banging his knee or anything of that sort. Dude just flat out ain't ready. Currently, he can't even dunk in stride and the media is going crazy about him not returning at "high 80%"?

Oh well, just hope we don't fall to the 8 seed.

This will give him all summer to get that knee right and hopefully come back as the Rose we know.

So glad I didn't erase game 1 vs Philly now. I watch it and turn off before it happens.

 Banks

Im a loyal chicago fan and I want d rose to come back as healthy as possible even if that means next year. My concern however is at this point he not even dunking in stride that is a huge problem, he flat out stated he cant dunk in stride. If this is the case his knee is not as healthy as he is claiming. As another NTer stated at 10 months he should be far more comfortable...... Some may not like this next part but it must be said Rose loyalty may be his biggest flaw. Any adult will tell you at some point being successful and doing things the right way means stepping away from loyalty. Rose chose a team doctor and associate of the fam, when any one in sports will tell you he should have went to Dr.James Andrews, google the name he responsible for all the top acl surgeries for athletes. Secondly I understand he doesn't love the limelight and trains with LA trainers lets be real he needs to be with Tim Grover in Chicago. Rose has to make choices separating comfort and loyalty

It's kinda upsetting that Derrick probably isn't coming back anytime soon, as much as I want him healthy, it just makes me fearful that the injury may have affected him much more than we thought. I heard this quote on ESPN Radio on my drive home: "On a day where millions of people receive dozens of roses, we just want one." :smh: :\

Qft everything! In his defense I heard the doctor who did the procedure was an accomplished doctor himself though. It really does piss me off that he won't train with Tim Grover.

I listen to ESPN Chicago all work long and Nick Friedell is semi-trollin all the ALL STARS asking about Derrick Rose's decision. Seems like all of them (Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Durant) are on Rose's side in waiting till he's 110%.

In Friedell's defense, All-Star Weekend Friday is basically like Super Bowl media day. It's an open forum, people ask all sorts of things, trying to get a sense of how everyone feels about a variety of things. I mean, didn't one person straight up ask Durant who his all-time Top 5 starting lineup is? The hell does that have to do with anything? But All-Star Weekend is a chance to ask those types of questions. He's just trying to see what the top players in the league think about Rose's situation. There's nothing wrong with that.

I thought Derick would be back against Cleveland next week......that was my guess 3 weeks ago. Now, i'm not sure. I dont question D. Rose at all. The last thing anyone would want is for him to come back early and hurt himself again. He's close...but not fully there. This is an absolutely terrible comparison, but its like putting a beer in the fridge...now, you can drink it cool after an hour, but if you're patient and give it another hour on top of that, it'll be icy cold (and delicious)

Let's get Derrick back when he's icy cold.

or you can put the beer in the freezer for a half hour and call it a day.....lol...::::sigh::::: I miss Derrick. |I

I like to talk about beer!

I was just telling someone how much it sucks not having any new Rose highlights this season. But if we have to wait til next year then it is what it is.

The wins can only do so much to distract me from the fact that I'm going crazy not knowing when/if Rose is going to return. I want to hear some kind of definitive news soon.

If it's : " I will be playing at some point this season for sure ." I wil8):D:smokinl

If it's : "I'm going to wait to wait till next season," I w:x:x:x:xill but at least I'll know.
