Nate Robinson Reportedly Won’t Return to the Chicago Bulls

Free agent guard Nate Robinson is likely on his way out of the Windy City, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The finances don’t work for the Chicago Bulls to retain the diminutive and explosive Robinson: “While the general manager indicated on Thursday night that the organization would like to bring back the likes of free agents-to-be Marco Belinelli, Nate Robinson and Nazr Mohammed there’s a good chance that only Mohammed is returning. According to a source familiar with the situation, Robinson and his camp have already made it clear with the Bulls that the two sides will part ways, as Robinson seeks a multi-year contract. Even if that contract isn’t made available to the point guard, a one-year deal with a team that will give him extended playing time is next on his wish list. Two requests that the Bulls cannot grant. Technically, the Bulls can’t start talking with agents until July 1, but it was made clear to Robinson on the day after the playoffs ended for him and his teammates, that with Derrick Rose expected to be up-and-running, as well as having Kirk Hinrich and Marquis Teague as backups, Robinson could see time at either guard position, but would be more of an insurance policy than leaned on for heavy minutes like he was this past season with Rose sidelined. Robinson knows that his value might never be higher coming off a season like he had, and silencing critics that he wasn’t the most coachable player in the league. You put a year in under coach Tom Thibodeau, and stay mostly dog-house free, that’s an accomplishment.”

CHICAGO BULLS | GRADE: C-

Round 1: Tony Snell (20)

Round 2: Erik Murphy (49)

Analysis: The Bulls really wanted a swingman and selected Snell, a workout wonder. Because Reggie Bullock, Allen Crabbe and Tim Hardaway Jr. were on the board, all three of whom have better track records, I was a little surprised that Snell was the pick. He might have more upside, but his lack of consistency on both ends is concerning. The Bulls filled a need, but I don't think they got the best guy to do it.

Murphy was a good second-round pick -- a terrific shooter who should be able to play stretch 4.

well Nate earned it, sad to see him go.

JL3 looking like he will be making a return to the Bulls??? Would rather take a flier on a C than a 4th PG

I still don't fully understand the cba. Do they have only the exemption to sign players to fill the roster? Or can they sign a player knowing they will be in luxury tax land? How is Brooklyn can bring in that size of payroll but we can't sign the bench players we want? Can someone explain this?

The idea that too many PGs are on the team is crazy IMO. We don't know that Kirk will hold up another year. Teague is too timid on the court and is no offensive threat. Plus Kirk, if healthy, can split back up minutes with smell at the two.

It's frustrating seeing other teams stack up teams and pay the tax when your team owners want to save a buck or two million.

^ They did it through trade. Besides trade Nets can sign Rookies, use the Mini-Mid Level Exception ($3.1mil) and Veteran's Minimum Contracts.

One estimate was the Nets will have a $100mil payroll, while paying $80mil+ in tax.

Bulls (if they stay under lux tax apron) can use Full Mid-Level Exception (around $5.6mil) , rookie contracts and vet min. If you use the full MLE you are not allowed to got over luxury tax apron for the year

So we have Nazr backing up Jo again :smh:
Dude i thought i was the only one felt that way!! I hated asik he gets no love from me.. It was like handing a two year old a spoon watching eat cereal they get all shaky before they eat it smh.. I wish we had a decent pf and a back up for jo

Cleveland is trying to bring in Love or Aldrige... rumored to have offered Andrew V, Tristian, & 2014 first rounder for LA

I dont see Love or Aldridge being traded this year both have two years on there contracts if im not mistaken with known hard headed Gms . I say if either gets traded it wont be till next year when they have real leverage to put on there teams as far as leaving and getting no assets in return.

I dont have a problem with our PF's i think Booz and Taj are a good, not great, combo. I think we get in trouble when we ask Taj to play center. As good as he is defensively hes always going to get in foul trouble going against bigger guys. Naz gave good time in the playoffs but regular season is when we need a good backup to spell Jo so we can save him for playoffs and take some pressure off that foot

The 6'7" Small Forward out of New Mexico averaged 12.5 points and 2.9 assists per game during his Junior year.

He also could be Flava Flav’s illegitimate son.

Bulls cut ties with lead assistant coach Adams

By K.C. Johnson, Tribune reporter
8:17 pm, June 29, 2013

In a surprising move, a league source said the Bulls will not renew the contract of lead assistant coach Ron Adams, whose deal expires Sunday.

Adams, in his second stint with the Bulls, returned in 2010 after a successful run as Scott Brooks’ lead assistant in Oklahoma City. Adams left the Thunder in part to join longtime friend Tom Thibodeau’s first staff and also to live again with his family. It had remained in the Chicago area for school reasons following Adams’ first stint with the Bulls under Scott Skiles.

According to sources, general manager Gar Forman made the decision, not Thibodeau. Forman informed Adams on Friday.

Reached Saturday, Forman said the team doesn’t comment on personnel matters. Adams also declined comment. A call to Thibodeau wasn’t returned.

The move raised eyebrows within and outside the organization as perhaps the first public indication of tension between Forman and Thibodeau. Though management has final say, head coaches typically are in charge of their staffs and the Bulls have made three straight playoff appearances. Thibodeau, for instance, let go Pete Myers when he first took over, a longtime franchise fixture.

Adams, who had been working on one-year deals since leaving the Thunder, consistently ranked among leaders in voting for the league’s top assistants on the annual general managers’ poll the NBA releases. Players praised Adams for his developmental work, particularly in improving form and release points on jump shots.

Sources said Forman objected to Adams’ displeasure with personnel decisions. Other unknown factors obviously could have factored in the decision as well.

The move also was read by some with ties to the organization as Forman making a power play on Thibodeau, who took his time signing the four-year, $17.5 million extension Forman announced publicly in October 2012. Thibodeau chalked the delay up to lawyer work on both sides plus his focus on the season, but management was puzzled by the drawn-out nature of the saga.

Publicly, Forman consistently has praised Thibodeau. As recently as Thursday night, Thibodeau complimented Forman and management for their work leading up to the selection of shooters Tony Snell and Erik Murphy in the NBA draft.

Sources said Adrian Griffin, who interviewed for the Pistons’ coaching job, could be promoted to lead assistant. It’s not certain that Adams’ spot will be replaced on staff. Assistant video coordinator Daisuke Yoshimoto is well-regarded within the organization and league.

Adams could land back with the Thunder, who have an opening after Maurice Cheeks left to take the Pistons’ top job. Adams also drew interest earlier this offseason from other unknown teams.

In other coaching news, former Bulls and Celtics fan favorite Brian Scalabrine is close to finalizing a deal to join Mark Jackson’s staff in Golden State.

Surprising they let him walk. Just think that thibs being such a hard headed coach will continue to bite the bulls.

As recently as this season he played Jo so many unnecessary minutes while recovering from his PF. We all know he drove d rose and deng into the ground the last couple years and doing the same with butler now.

Look at how pop managed players minutes and got such an old team to game 7 of the finals. I don't think thibs is a championship coach.

They soften up.. Body bron *** up.. In my opinion we need to strengthen our paint game up.. These big men we have dont nooo legs..
Sorry for talking like i know what it takes. Its my opinion tho...
