***Official Political Discussion Thread***

If minorities opposing Trump is your breaking point for being an ally, then you were never an ally at all, my guy.

Saying that affirmative action doesn't work for any black person is dishonest as well. It seems like you're more set in holding these strong positions under the guise of having some sort of reasonable debate, but you aren't really that open to hearing the opinions of the actual oppressed people. I've seen you in this thread completely dismiss every critique of Trump and ride for him as you were worshipping a demagogue. Maybe you should take a step back and evaluate whether how you perceive your actions match the reality of the situation.

Yup, NEVER an ally ... Got it ... As I said, why even talk if the extreme is thrust upon me when I suggest an alternative viewpoint? Case in point ...

neverforget, NOT a racist:

I appreciate the responses from you and @chao7 but sadly they have confirmed my suspicions ...

No matter what I do, I will never escape being viewed as a white supremacist, privileged racist who does nothing for minorities etc. because I can't possibly align all of my thoughts with those of minorities ...

Belgium Belgium just gave you a literal blueprint....(very thoughtful btw) and you dismissed it all to hold onto your feelings . No self reflection at all. All you do is boast about "how much you do for minorities". Maybe look internally and ask yourself some tough questions? But that may cause too much discomfort for you.

Study up on white fragility. It runs strong in you.

@rexanglorum .....would give you a thoughtful response. But it's clear you're not open to really listening.

My background is in economics and I have personally negotiated contracts that have helped thousands of minorities ... I have personally been responsible for securing greater benefits for part-time workers in the age of technological replacement ... But yet, if I believe the ACA should have never been passed because I studied it for 2 years and realize how unsound it was from an economic perspective, I will just be the racist white guy in the corner showing his privilege ...

I am empathetic in words and, most importantly, actions ... I do recognize the similarities with what I just said above and the plight of minorities not getting a fair shake, no matter what they do ... And I am well-educated on the evolution of this country, specifically the similarities and differences between my Irish slave ancestors and African Americans ... But it is never enough ...

The minute I align with any viewpoint opposed to mainstream media I am crucified ... Affirmative action literally does not work for African Americans to any objective and honest person, yet I cannot say anything like that ...

The point I'm making is that, the current climate of this country is seeing reasonable debate either suppressed or invisible because of a general feeling of ... Why? Why go march with folks in support of minority causes if the minute I say Hillary was a crook and I voted for Trump I am condemned to death? It's like you can't support the more conservative leaning president because you genuinely feel the country will be better off without adopting all of his statements ever made off the cuff or under the guise of locker room talk etc. ...

I have spent much of the last decade of my life as a white male representing the positions of minorities ... I have hired more minorities than whites into management and senior level jobs ... And the fact that at every turn, no debate is acceptable unless you blindly align with the general consensus of **** Donald is a shame ... I will never compromise my actions and morals, but I am no longer a vocal advocate ... You lost me ...

oh what a shame...this is such a big loss for the minority community.
i feel so sorry that you are a white privileged male that doesn't get the credit you think you deserve...that must be really hard for you

I typed out a long *** post, gathered a bunch of links, the when I was editing I realized it was not worth it to waste my breath.

Dude's ignorance is so engrained. He uses nearly every right wing deflection and dog whistle. Dude is does want to learn and grow. He just wants absolution for his offensive views.

Plus on the bright side, he said after this is would be done. So why get in a back and forth right before his *** about to bounce.

Not sure if Moore understand what's going to happen if he'd actually go through with this  Assuming he does, it's just an empty threat.

Moore threatens to sue Washington Post over allegations
Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore is threatening to sue The Washington Post after it published a story last week that Moore had pursued relationships with teenagers while in his mid-30s, according to multiple reports.

During an event Sunday, Moore called the newspaper's report "fake news" and a "desperate attempt to stop my political campaign," according to The Associated Press.

The newspaper "will be sued," he said during the event.

“Why would they come now? Because there are groups that don’t want me in the United States Senate,” he said.
“We do not plan to let anybody deter us from this race.”

The threat comes after a 53-year-old woman told the Post that Moore initiated sexual contact with her in 1979 when she was 14 and he was 32. Three other women also told the Post that Moore around the same time had courted them when they were teenagers.

Moore has denied the allegations, saying they are "completely false."

Since the reports, several lawmakers have called for him to step aside.

A poll released Sunday showed Democrat Doug Jones leading Moore in Alabama's Senate race by 4 points, 46 to 42 percent. The poll was conducted after the Post published its bombshell report.

And hot off the press 6m ago, the turtle crawls out his shell and takes a stand, albeit a bit late and probably because he saw the polling

McConnell: Roy Moore should step aside
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Monday called for GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore to "step aside," according to the Associated Press.

His comments come after a Washington Post report in which a woman accused Moore of initiating sexual contact with her in 1979, when she was 14 and he was 32.

McConnell was asked if he believes the allegations are true.

"I believe the women," he said.

Moore has repeatedly denied the allegations.

Multiple lawmakers have called for Moore to step aside following the reports.
