***Official Political Discussion Thread***

As far as politics are concerned I believe the left and the right to be equally nasty and dishonest. Our choices this time around are as bad/sad as they've ever been.

As far as comedy goes, Gillis is quite funny. Dave Chappelle took him on the road as his opener for good reason.
Ahhhhh, another both sides free thinker

Thank you for you contribution

Expand, because that doesn't say anything about how the left and the right are identically nasty and dishonest.

Yeah i'm not speaking for my man because I assume he's including domestic issues with that.

I'm referring to dealings outside of the US.

I know.

Since I sense that I won't get more out of you, I'll just say that foreign policy and internal politics are not independent from each other. Decisions at either level always reverberate in the other direction: during WII, men fighting forced women to take on factory work, which was a catalyst for the women's liberation movements in the West; Africans and Asians fighting in WII galvanized the independence movements on those continents (and the civil rights movements here); the gas crisis in the US was a decisive factor in our decision to get involved in the Middle East.

Foreign policy is driven by the need to address demands that cannot be satisfied internally, and it shapes a nation's response to other foreign actors/nations' demands. To this end, nations have many tools at their disposal (namely militarism, diplomacy, trade), and Republicans and Democrats have a history of preferring certain tools over others. If one is going to argue that these parties are the same, they'd have to show how there's no difference in how they address the issues they face and the priorities they set.
