It is not about believing everything a politician says.

"Make America Great Again" is an abstract claim, meant to illicit and emotion reaction to get votes. It is subjective, and could differ from person to person how Drumpf can pull this off.

Saying that women that get illegal abortions should get punished is a concrete claim, one that could be achieved, maybe not explicitly federally, but give red states a angle to be able to impose laws that punish these women. Claims like these should be taken dead serious, and brushed of as "You'll know Drumpf is just trying to rustle"

All this media frenzy is giving him free press and makes him a viable option for those Evangelicals.

Then a few hours later... Trump posted a statement to clarify after the fact.

"the doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman. The woman is a victim in this case as is the life in her womb."

I said the statement should be taken as dead serious, not dismissed as a non story. Force the candidate to back off the point, or double down. So you know where they stand on an important issue.

Like I said, it is not about getting rustled at a everything, but holding candidates accountable for their worlds.

What I am saying is Trump is nothing more than an entertainer using the 'shock jock' strategy of exaggerating or stating offensive statements to garner attention. The more attention... the more hate or adulation he gets. Trump doesn't even need PACS or attack ads because the media is providing it for free 24/7

Everything that comes out of a presidential candidate's mouth should be taken dead serious (edit: in the sense of not glossing over it like this type of rhetoric doesn't have a hazardous influence on many people). Whether Trump truly wants to enact the things he says is irrelevant.

A US president or presidential candidate holds a lot of influence so when they spread cancerous rhetoric like this it is detrimental to society.

This isn't your average biblethumper yelling "murderer!!!" infront of an abortion clinic, it's a presidential candidate with the power to influence hundreds of thousands or even millions of people.

The point is Trump is an actor, entertainer and knows to be in the spot light. Trump needs to provide some new or fresh controversy each and every single day for the media to go crazy over. After a few days, if Trump is fading from the daily news, he will state the next dumb statement like today.

Does Trump truly want to ban all muslims from entering the US or is he just pandering to voters? I don't know, it does not matter. What matters in that case is he is spreading dangerous rhetoric that is leading to an increase in islamophobia and hatred towards middle eastern ethnicities.
