Warren? Bernie Sanders? Cory Booker?

I think Trump proved to everyone you don't need to be a POLITICIAN to win.

If the country is in a war, or a major financial crisis in 2020, best believe anyone including Will Smith or Jamie Fox can win the White House.

How come they get murdered, every mid term?

How come they can't take congress?

how come so many state legislatures are Republican, even in satates with democratic goveners/?

Where are all these young talented far left democrats that can hold together the obama coalition?

I'm not being saracastic, I really wanna know, please give names.
I am sure you are well aware of gerrymandering. North Carolina, a state with 25% black people and a  33% minority population, has 10/13 seats belonging to Republicans. How does that compute in any way? Is that representative governance?

The issue isn't as simple as veer left, veer right.

Perhaps "progressives" need to realize that "electability" is a thing of the past, and what truly matters is resonating with voters. Democrats made a safe bet and it stabbed them in the back. You need a movement to win an election, I can't think of anything less momentous than an Omalley, Clinton like candidate again.

Some names

Obama

Klobuchar

Warren

Booker

Harris

I know y'all doubting him but

I think Trump is going to be a great President

Nothing is standing in his way... so let's see.

His first 100 days, he promised Tax cuts, replace Obamacare, deport illegal criminals, constitutional amendment to impose congressional term limits, renegotiate NAFTA, bill NATO, cancel UN climate change funding, train police officers, infrastructure spending, destroy ISIS, eliminate common core in public schools and best of all... construction of a wall that Mexico will pay for.

This was FAR from chess though. DNC underestimated and failed, yes.

But it was pretty simple and straight forward what happened last night. The move worked out for DT obviously. But there was no chess move involved. Everything was out in plain sight and it worked out.

To name a few.

It really wasn't progressives pushing that "electibility" narrative though ,their candidate was pushed as being on the wrong side of that debate

White supremacy is illogical, white privilege is also illogical, and if you are indeed white, you benefit from what is illogical even if you are in denial of that fact.

I am indeed white, but who the hell are you to infer what privileges I've gotten from being white?

Have I ever been on any kind of government assistance? Nope. Been paying my own way since I was 17.

Have I ever gotten any assistance with school or college? Nope. Spent about $30K, every CENT out of MY OWN pocket, and I'm still a ways from being done.

Have I ever gotten any assistance for my daughter, despite being an unemployed, no income single parent early in her life, during the recession? Nope. Depleted MY OWN savings so we could get by, though.

Have I ever been discriminated against based on my appearance? Most definitely. Although I may be white, I also used to consistently be anywhere from 50-120 lbs. overweight, so I've dealt with instances of superficial, prejudiced jerk offs too.

I'm still trying to figure out when exactly I'm going to benefit from all this white privilege that so many self-righteous entitled douchebags keep insisting I have? If I have it, I sure haven't found it yet, chief.

It's pretty obvious that Hillary was/is unelectable but the Dems had no other legitimate, vetted centrist/establishment candidate. Honestly, it probably will be a good thing that she didn't win because it will force the Dems to evolve into a party that is more progressive and actually invigorates voters (ironically much like Obama did in '08 and Trump did this past year). People clearly didn't want an old, establishment candidate that tells party voters to "get in line." I'm just surprised HRC didn't see the writing on the wall with Jeb but I guess her hubris made her think she was above all of that.

I think you are a fool if you think this makes the party becomes more progressive.

Why? If you are a democrat, being the party of diversity, of inclusion, openess has led you to ruin,

No democrat other than Barack Obama has been able to hold together the Obama coalition,

Not in primaries,
not in mid terms
and NOT when all of Obama's policies were on the line in the biggest election of our lifetimes.

So if you are a democraft, why would be coming MORE progressive be the answer? Hilary Clinton's policies are very far left as it is, a side from a more hawkish foreign policy.

I think you are in for a rude awakening, IMO the Party goes back to the right, back to where they were pre-Obama.

and you Bernie Bro people, whats the phrase? you are going to have to suck on it and like it.

Can't say I disagree.

Obama...can't...run...again,

wut?

I remember Warren, Klobuchar and Bookers speeches, I don't recall feeling like there was a movement.

Obama was a shooting star, if you think DNC operatives are going to sit around waiting for A ONCE IN A GENERATION POLITICAL talent to come along again, you are dreaming in technicolor.

Politicians get tired of losing FAST. Politicians take the easy way out, and the easy way out is a move back to the right.

Michelle.

I speak for myself, and myself alone, but I will become an annoying independent again if Democrats start offering up 90's Democrats again.

When you don't get pulled over, and having to sit on a sidewalk handcuffed for driving 5 miles over the speed limit, while the police are going through your car, your glove compartment, and your personal belongings.

Michelle hates politics.

Like HATES it. This is well reported.

If she says no, what then?

I don't know who you voted for, but if you didn't vote Clinton I think you clinched a DNC move to the center.

You don't know that it's there. At least you don't abuse it.

I voted Democrat down the ticket. Filled in my bubbles until they were the same color as Don Cheadle.

whose fault is it that you have zero self respect and became obese? You chose to be fat and to be ridiculed. Minorities don't choose the color of their skin, the color which leads to them getting abused by white racists for no reason

Kamala Harris? Too soon?
Said the same thing about Barack, dude was barely elected Senator, when he started amassing momentum.

I aint saying anything other than Clinton performed horribly, and I place the blame on her, not her stances. I find it hard to believe Bernie would have fared the same/worse.

While the Democratic base complains that the DNC gave them nothing to be inspired by, the GOP base just straight up votes. In midterms, off year, down ballot, they just vote.

Progressive taking about the DNC should cater to them. Why? Huh? Why the **** should they cater to a coalition that doesn't even bother to show up enough for progress to be made or even protected.

I wanted Bernie too, but I knew what was at stake. I knew no matter which Republican got elected what was at stake. But still people sat out and are shook the other side fell in line behind a bigot. Why? That's the GOP's strength, fall line one movement.

Let us take a step back. Trump is not a right wing replay of Obama.

Obama won with high turnout, with a diverse coalition, Trump won with low turnout and a much more homogeneous one.

There was enough voters out there, even with voter ID laws to beat Trump, and folks just stayed home.

Liberals have to stop demanding they be inspired to vote within their self interest.

-----I just want the left to look in the mirror, because if we really are a coalition of the many.

So many in our coalition was let down last night.

And people on the left need to rally, and do it quickly.

Still can't see how Bernie would've lost MI,NH,WI and PA
