***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Yall wanna read those raw and unfiltered words from MLK that would make politicians and ardent racists alike have a stroke? If you're tired of mainstream America bleaching MLK's image and you want that pure and uncut MLK, read these two books below .

Who even finds Rob Schneider funny? Everything I've seen from him appeals to the lowest class of people, and I mean that mentally, not financially. He is worse than Adam Sandler in that sense. Trump fans probably rewtweeted that nonsense thousands ot times

Every time someone tries to pull the white washed MLK "I have a dream" card I always have the same exchange with them. Goes something like this:

Me: Have you every ever heard the whole speech

MLK name invoker: Yeah, once or twice

Me: Ok, why and where was the speech given.

Invoker: DC for Civil Rights

Me: You sure it wasn't Selma?

Invoker: Ummmm, I dunno, maybe

Me: , nevermind, I'm messing with you. What other speeches of his have you listen to?

Invoker: Ummmm

Me: Ever read any of his books?

Invoker: Ummmm

Me: Ever read his Letter from the Birmingham Jail, it is pretty famous

Invoker: Ummmmmm

Me: What did MLK do between the passing of the Civil Rights Acts and his death

Invoker: Ummmmm

Me: So all you really know about the man is about 2 mins of his life that gets played over and over every year.

Invoker: Rusty, I feel attacked.

Me: :rolleyes

Hey, it could be worse:

Me: Have you every ever heard the whole speech

Hood: I listen to NPR

Me: Ok, why and where was the speech given.

Hood: Must've been a sports arena

Me: You sure it wasn't Selma?

Hood: How would I know. I'm not black.

Me: , nevermind, I'm messing with you. What other speeches of his have you listen to?

Hood: The one where he blamed immigrants for all our problems.

Me: Ever read any of his books?

Hood: The one where he said it's ok if there's discrimination, that just means you have to work twice as hard.

Me: Ever read his Letter from the Birmingham Jail, it is pretty famous

Hood: If he didn't escape from that jail maybe he'd still be alive.

Me: What did MLK do between the passing of the Civil Rights Acts and his death

Hood: Try to get them repealed. We all know it was just political gamesmanship.

Me: So all you really know about the man is about 2 mins of his life that gets played over and over every year.

Hood: Rusty, I feel attacked.

Me: :rolleyes

TI: "There's a hidden agenda.... Do not go in there unless you have a strategy."

Thank you. That's what I've been trying to say. Can't believe a grown man can go into a meeting with Trump thinking he's actually going to do you the favor of an honest discourse. He is using all these clowns from Kanye to Harvey and they are falling for it.

I was lucky with my History teachers. I went to HS in Maryland.

I had one African American guy, one dude from Ghana, black chick from Trinidad and my one white history was a socialist that sounded like Tim Wise.

He got into trouble because he played played Malcolm X speeches to the called in their entirety, called the Panthers did good work for the most part, and referred to Robert Ewell in to Kill a Mockingbird as the perfect fictional example of the "white devils" that were running around in the 1960s.

He was quite popular with the black students.

Here is an open letter to Trump that TI wrote a couple days back. Sorry if posted already:

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/read-tis-candid-open-letter-to-donald-trump-w461077

In closing, I can’t help but ask one final question man to man. A simple yet profound question recently asked of me. “When the stage is dark and the lights and cameras are off … Who are you? And more importantly, who do you want to be?”

With all that has happened and all the idiotic things he's done, it's still not too late for Trump to become a hero. Not one ounce of me believes he will change but I still think there's a tiny chance.

Sure nobody holding him accountable seems like an excellent idea.
Press being located in the White house does not equal accountability. Try again.

The history of politics and the press is a long one, imo it has become way too buddy buddy.

The thing about Trump is that he will say anything to be loved by his audience. He personally resents criticism (hence why he wants to keep tweeting after the inauguration). The problem with people that are easily swayed by others' opinion is their entourage.

That's why I am pessimistic when people say "give him a chance;" most of the policies he will sign off on will help the people closest to him first, and most of those in his inner circle have been antagonistic towards the 99% in one way or another.

I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

Republicans want to make sure all abortions are illegal because every life is precious and deserves a chance, but they also want to end the ACA that pretty much will kill a ton of people.
Biggest group of ******* idiots to ever live

Dabo Swiney and all those coaches/players/conservatives telling Kaep to "protest another way".....etc should read this part.

They won't though. It's uncomfortable to them....and doesn't fit the whitewashed image of MLK they love to push.

All for the comfort of white Americans.....history has:

Demonized/Radicalized Malcolm & Black Panthers
Sanitized MLK.

A damn shame.

Birmingham jail letter is powerful man...I'm so glad to see this going viral today so people can see another side to the man other than what they allow us to see and know...

Slowly but surely, more and more people are getting hip :pimp:

I'm not sure if you're into it, but Bomani Jones just read that to Dabo on his radio show....Eloquently schooled/ killed Dabo.

Dumbo Swinney is a POS but I will save my views for the college football thread.
