***Official Political Discussion Thread***

You know, some part of me feels like the GOP will screw Donald over to get Pence in the head chair. Letting all of this nonsense to let him take the oath and then gradually start to finesse him out.....Either that or let him stay so that they can do what they want because they know he won't contest it.

Oh, and I don't wanna hear nothing about Obama's Executive Orders or vacation, we know dude bout to go crazy w/ that

At least the ultra conservative/overly-religious crowd never has to be taken seriously in politics ever again from now on.

Don't want to hear a peep from them.

The future is bright.

Dude criticized Obama for taking vacations, the man is going away for the weekend and "starts" on Monday, like this **** is a new job at H&R Block.

That was a terrible explanation, Trump's hand position and motions were spot on that guys' disability. Way too close to be a coincidence

Really hate that all the power has shifted to these old, conservative white dudes.  Not feeling the backwards trajectory.

Obama used less executive orders in office than any president since Cleveland. You wouldn't know that if all your news come rightwing talk radio shows or Faux News. Trump is about to take the weekend off while he has only appointed 28 people out of 690.

I didn't know that and all I watch is crooked media/CNN

Edit: about the executive orders. Since congress is trying to block them like dikembe in the paint damn near every week I assumed he had a lot of EOs

u know this got debunked too right? ill let u find da times Trump mocked other opponents of his in this identical manner who have no disabilities...
You're the one saying it's been "debunked" so how about you show it. Or do you perhaps think this is one of Drumpf's rallies where a "Believe me" is good enough?

Also, let's hear him say "You gotta see this guy" right as he mocks the person in question before he makes that gesture with his hands. Not to mention the face he makes, mimicking a disabled person's face:

And I wonder... What are the dates of those other mockings? Are they possibly all after the incident with the disabled reporter where he attempts to soften the controversy by making it look like he does it all the time? Show me one instance of him doing that hand gesture while mocking another person BEFORE the incident with the reporter and I'll say that there is a legit possibility that he wasn't mocking him for being disabled.

But a guy who also called a POW a "loser" for being caught in war and a women reporter for "bleeding out of her wherever" definitely deserves the benefit of the doubt.

The guy is a classless slime bag to such a degree that if you had a stereotype sitcom bully kid in some 80s or 90s sitcom modeled after him, people would say that it's too over the top and unrealistic. He makes this guy look like a class act:

It still amazes me that a man with no political experience somehow just became President of the United States of America.

All them dudes look like perfect extras in a movie about slave owners...they all look like absolute scumbags.

WHITE HOUSE
The Empty Trump Administration

We're two days away from having a new president. But we're apparently a lot longer than that from having a Trump administration with even a minimally functional ability to govern.

Politico's Michael Crowley has a nice piece explaining the missing National Security Council staffers, and the dangers that could cause if there's an early crisis. Hundreds of briefing papers have been created by Obama's NSC and sent to Team Trump, but the New York Times reports that no one knows if they've been reviewed.

Yet the NSC is ahead of the curve for this administration. Look at the big four departments. There's no Trump appointee for any of the top State Department jobs below secretary nominee Rex Tillerson. No Trump appointee for any of the top Department of Defense jobs below retired general James Mattis. Treasury? Same story. Justice? It is one of two departments (along with, bizarrely, Commerce) where Trump has selected a deputy secretary. But no solicitor general, no one at civil rights, no one in the civil division, no one for the national security division.

And the same is true in department after department. Not to mention agencies without anyone at all nominated by the president-elect.

Overall, out of 690 positions requiring Senate confirmation tracked by the Washington Post and Partnership for Public Service, Trump has come up with only 28 people so far.

The Atlantic's Russell Berman had a good story two weeks ago about how far behind Trump was. Since then? If anything, it's getting worse -- he's added only two of those 28 since Jan. 5. As Berman reported, the Partnership for Public Service suggested a president should have "100 Senate-confirmed appointees in place on or around Inauguration Day." At this pace, he won't have 100 nominees by the end of February, let alone having them confirmed and hard at work.
