***Official Political Discussion Thread***

The last tweet, Val Kilmer girl he said every 5 minutes he was gonna kill Obamacare. You serious right now? You deserve every disease and ailment you get for being a moron.

The ABC News interview is a nonstop stream of lies and self-aggrandizement (and we all know how much Trump enjoys streams).

He hurled constant insults and constantly bullied Muir. He repeatedly showed fundamental misunderstandings of what should be basic facts and ideas. At least a dozen times he spoke bold-faced lies alternative truths. He also implied we will go to war with Iraq.

If you read/watch the interview, you realize he is completely delusional and unhinged. He is not grounded in any sort of reality.

He is a step or two away from a psychotic break.

Trump being in bed with the military industry complex isn't a surprise
Wouldn't be surprised too if him and some his cabinet members have stakes on the military contractors that help supply our military

It's becoming more and more obvious. The way he's flagrant about it and now his comments about Iraq... We've gone far too long without a war and they see an opportunity in don dump to make billions and billions of dollars.

So who is excited for trump's Supreme Court nominee(s)
When is it getting announced?

Gotta assume soon.. and then gotta hope someone else doesn't die or retire
I'm not too educated on the history of SCOTUS, but do political affiliations have a lot of effect on the rulings or is it minimal? I would think that it would have minimal impact since they have to abide by the constitution in their rulings no?

Party lines are definitely instrumental on their rulings. EVERYONE already knows how each justice will rule.

Except, John Roberts. But he purposefully votes against his party (GOP) so he can preserve the the sanctity of the Supreme Court.

Democrats and Republicans interpret the constitution differently that's how they're able to get away with being so blatantly partisan.

it's more their philosophy or way of thinking, which tends to break down as conservative or liberal but also as literal constitutionalist (i think the term is "strict constructionist") vs not, etc.

so there isn't political affiliation per se but they'll typically be chosen based by the president based on their views on things like gun control, abortion, religious "freedoms" (prayer in school), etc.

but they are supposed to be free thinkers, and some of them will evolve over their tenure.

That's my understanding at least and is a bit of an oversimplification.

oh, and i forgot to say: **** trump.

It has long been commonly assumed that the votes of Supreme Court justices reflect their jurisprudential philosophies as well as their ideological leanings, personal attitudes, values, political philosophies, or policy preferences.

this is a rough sketch of how their leanings change over time:

Freedom has many difficulties and democracy is not perfect, but we have never had to put a wall up to keep our people in, to prevent them from leaving us.

While the wall is the most obvious and vivid demonstration of the failures of the Communist system, for all the world to see, we take no satisfaction in it. For it is, as your Mayor has said, an offense not only against history but an offense against humanity, separating families, dividing husbands and wives and brothers and sisters, and dividing a people who wish to be joined together.

From the great words of JFK

Betsy DeVos' brother, owner of Academi, formerly known as BlackWater.

Should give you a clue.

I'm glad that Republican Federal workers are actually feeling the results of their own idelogy.

I am amazed at how many conservatives I know who have government jobs. Every libertarian/conservative I know works for the federal Government, the State of California or some other jobs that is completely reliant on tax dollars like military contracting.

Conservatives want wealth and stability in there own lives, even if it comes from "big government." Struggle and instability and insecurity is for "those other people."

edit: you know what i realized. i don't think trump was ever in it with devos or all these other billionaires he chose for his team. i think they were just smart and realized ahead of time that he could be easily manipulated with flattery. fill his ego up and just like that the orange turd will grant you your wish.

Trump still uses unsecured Android phone

President Trump still uses his unsecured Android phone, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The decision to keep using the old phone was protested by some of his aides, according to the publication.

Before the president's inauguration, The Associated Press reported that Trump had given up his personal cellphone.

He had apparently told a friend before he was sworn in that he had given up the phone at the advice of security agencies.
Trump is known for tweeting personally from his device, an Android smartphone, often posting announcements or attacking his rivals.

After his victory last year, the president expressed concern that he wouldn't be able to continue using his Android cellphone when he assumed office.

The president told the Times on Tuesday the White House has the "most beautiful phones I've ever used in my life."

“The world’s most secure system,” he added. “The words just explode in the air."
