***Official Political Discussion Thread***

Very obvious dude is lonely and trolls on here everyday for the social interaction he desperately needs, it is what it is though to each their own

Clearly.

Idk why dudes feed it. Yo be HUNTING .

If you're 35....a single child, just starting your career, living in a small apartment, with nothing to call your own. And spend 18/24 hours watching/listening to politics.....Any social interaction: negative or positive, is good for you.

Trump agrees to honor one-China policy in call to Xi Jinping

Well that didn't take long.

All talk, no action

He probably got sweet talked into it. That's what scary about Trump: he can be manipulated by playing into his lack of self-esteem.

China's president didn't talk to him after Trump sent him a letter until Trump called him. The silence probably got Trump to crack

tbh I thought Trump would stay in his promise to recognizing Taiwan as a separate country

I guess not anymore

PRESIDENT TRUMP, please don't engage with people asking you how much fake news you watch. You have alternative facts on your side. Please ask Mr. Spicer to stop posting pictures of random African Americans and saying he is an example for all African Americans. It is too obvious. Be careful.

I quote "I'm indifferent" this is your stance on Betsy Devos privatizing public education, yet somehow you wanna make yourself sound morally conscious of the struggles of kids back home, miss me with that ****

spare me, you don't even understand what's going on.

Parents having more control where they can send their kids to school is never a bad thing...this appointment was a proxy war of da Teachers union vs charter schools... learn da politics of before u resort to hyperbole.

are u familiar with charter schools? most of the ones ive come across had wait lists with so many applicants they go by lottery instead of in order of arrival on the list. and that is BEFORE parents can pick where they send kids.

also, its a band aid. the main reason parents would want to send their kids to a different school would be the perceived quality of education. so... instead of making it so poorly performing schools are brought up to speed with the rest of the good schools, we rather flood the good schools and leave the poor ones empty? that's stupid.

not to mention, devos is all about charter schools SPECIFICALLY. not public schools. so she will heavily favor charter schools and neglect public schools. her track record for education is abysmal at best. not to mention shes never even attended a public school nor sent her children to one... yet she is now in charge of policy for all of them.

itd be like me becoming the US ambassador for China having never stepped foot over there. its just stupid. not to mention the pay for play shes clearly guilty of, but I digress.

‘I was stunned by the business’: Fast food CEO says profits soared after minimum wage hike

No **** . The middle and poor class make more money and it goes right back into da economy. Henry ford knew this long long time ago and doubled his employees wages and guess what? they bought the same cars they built on the production line more than doubling his profits

Exactly. Rich and ignorant poor keep pushing that Reaganomics though.

yeah ite....

tell that to parents that rather not send their kids to a sinking ship.

U still don't get it do you? The things w/ the charter schools is essentially the same thing that happen to schools during the integration era, the money follows the kid. Once parents see that their good school is starting to decline due to the influx of kids from the "bad" school, they'll pull their kids out of the good school, along w/ the money, and send them either to another public school or a private school. Then, over time, the cycle repeats because the school that was once good, isn't so much anymore.

Also, in Michigan, DeVos charter school love had damn near 0 oversight. Kids wouldn't even know if they were going to have school the whole day or if it'd be open the next day. Charter =/= better. U need to read up on what happened in Michigan after she got her claws into the education system.

I know people who taught in charter schools and the environment there is abysmal for the teacher. Not to mention, many charter schools fail because many are setup to enrich the owner who uses his own companies and people for consulting and pays them ridiculous rates. Just another self enrichment tactic

so what u gonna do, force parents to be in schools they don't wanna be in for their kids? you already know what happens...it's called private school.

NYC Mayor Deblasio tried to go to war with Success Academy, a fabulously run charter school network in da city on behalf of da Teachers Union, and his constituency (and his own Governor) rebelled against him...turns out minorities and low-income parents care about education and da choice for their kids too.

There are lotteries for the top-tier charter school in NYC. You know this. Stop making it seem like that things are all gravy if kids don't get accepted into these schools. The reason these charters are in such high demand, is because of how poor neighborhood schools are in their own communities.

Private school comes at a cost. It's not a realistic option for many folks out there.

"Don't like your public education...go private!" As if it's just that easy for folks in communities with failing/title 1 schools :smh:

Such a simple-minded way of seeing things.

parents aren't gonna send their kids to failing school if they have a choice... Homeschool, Catholic school, private, charter, etc.

so what's it's gonna be.. you gonna force parents to go to schools they don't want? there's isn't a credible answer for da status quo.
