But parents already have a choice. Private schools don't have to accept the vouchers, you do know that right? And if they don't get drafted in the lottery for a charter school, then what's next?

You think white neighborhoods will open their doors to low income minorities? Where do you think redlining came from?

why does it involve "what white people" do or not? ish sounds ridiculous...

that's why charters having such growth in NYC.

why did trump back down on China? did they scare him?

I'm disappointed that the president of this country is too weak to stand up to other countries. China is going to walk all over us.

edit: donald, it's ok though. you can learn from them how to negotiate deals and how to be a strong person. go back and ask them for advice. tell them your mommy sent you.

Because most if not all of the good schools are in predominately white neighborhoods and have been for a while. You can't be that blind to the system that was set up.

It's a sad day when the president of the United States and his team can't do whatever they want unchecked :smh:

Seriously, if anyone disagrees with Trump you're bias or political. Even federal judges appointed by both partie smh.

This is the new red scare, the "Orange Scare"

And now the flip flop on China. What a clown. John Lewis should call him out with "all talk, no action".

@RoguePOTUSStaff: POTUS irritated that sev. members of Patriots team will not attend WH visit. Saying he will lobby owner to cut them from the team.

‘He doesn’t like this ****’: Trump reportedly hates his job and his staff after less than a month
TRAVIS GETTYS
10 FEB 2017 AT 08:38 ET

Ater just three weeks on the job, President Donald Trump is reportedly frustrated with the realities of trying to run the U.S. government the way he manages his family-owned business.

Politico interviewed nearly two dozen people who have spent time with the former real estate developer and reality TV star since his inauguration — and they said Trump’s “mood has careened between surprise and anger as he’s faced the predictable realities of governing,” according to the report.

“The interviews paint a picture of a powder-keg of a workplace where job duties are unclear, morale among some is low, factionalism is rampant and exhaustion is running high,” Politico reported. “Two visitors to the White House last week said they were struck by how tired the staff looks.”

Trump would like to shake up his White House staff less than a month into the job but knows it’s too soon, the website reported, and aides joke that the president would like to spend even more time golfing at his Mar-A-Lago resort.

Sources close to Trump said he’s infuriated by the profusion of leaks revealing his confrontational phone calls with world leaders and the herky-jerky inner workings of the White House.

The White House has launched an investigation of those leaks that appears to be focused on the National Security Council, based on the Politico report.

NSC staffers have been instructed to cooperate with the inquiry, and the administration may tighten the inner circle of aides who have access to the calls and their transcripts, the website reported.

A culture of fear and paranoia is developing, pitting the president and his allies against career NSC staff assigned from other agencies.

The Trump circle believe those career bureaucrats are out to get them, while NSC staffers are concerned the president isn’t up to the job and resent the politicization of the agency by appointing Bannon to the council.

Staffers fear Kushner because he’s so close to the president, and they aren’t really sure of his official role in the White House.

For his part, Kushner is furious at reports that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has been saying he will join the White House as part of a “second wave” after the president’s son-in-law got him banished from the transition team as retribution for prosecuting his father.

Sources said Trump often asks simple questions about his job, and he usually changes the subject when discussions become too detail-oriented to make it seem as if he’s in control, said one senior government official.

Trump prefers to hand off detailed questions to his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, or to chief strategist Steve Bannon or House Speaker Paul Ryan, the website reported.

Those sources also revealed that Trump has privately expressed disbelief that judges, bureaucrats and lawmakers are able to halt him from filling government positions or implementing policies.

“He doesn’t like this ****,” a source told Politico, referring to the difficulties Trump faced in getting one of his top fundraisers, Anthony Scaramucci, appointed to a job in the West Wing.

However, sources said Trump appears to enjoy showing visitors around the Oval Office, where he spends most of his working hours, and keeping tabs on how his staffers look on TV news.

Trump is the epitome of that movie 'Bruce almighty'.. the guy sitting there complaining about the guy doing the job with zero appreciation for what it takes to actually do that job, til they got it

How much those dudes age in just a handful of years should be a sign

parents aren't gonna send their kids to failing school if they have a choice... Homeschool, Catholic school, private, charter, etc.

so what's it's gonna be.. you gonna force parents to go to schools they don't want? there's isn't a credible answer for da status quo.

You know how dumb this sounds? I'd LOVE to see you go and spit this same nonsense in impoverished areas of NYC/DC/Baltimore/Detroit/PG County (or any major city) and tell those hard-working folks, "you have choices!" It's not that simple.

I legit believe that he thinks he can treat the presidency as a 9-5 gig. If it's not impeachment, he'll step down. This ain't for him...and it's obvious. Doesn't make me feel any better about Pence getting the keys to the car, but still...

That story is hilarious but sad at the same time. We all saw it coming though, he ran as an ego boost and now he's sad  but now we're stuck with each other :smh:

Btw isn't renegotiating trade deals to boost exports a form of regulation...?

Parents having more control where they can send their kids to school is never a bad thing...this appointment was a proxy war of da Teachers union vs charter schools... learn da politics of before u resort to hyperbole.

are u familiar with charter schools? most of the ones ive come across had wait lists with so many applicants they go by lottery instead of in order of arrival on the list. and that is BEFORE parents can pick where they send kids.

also, its a band aid. the main reason parents would want to send their kids to a different school would be the perceived quality of education. so... instead of making it so poorly performing schools are brought up to speed with the rest of the good schools, we rather flood the good schools and leave the poor ones empty? that's stupid.

not to mention, devos is all about charter schools SPECIFICALLY. not public schools. so she will heavily favor charter schools and neglect public schools. her track record for education is abysmal at best. not to mention shes never even attended a public school nor sent her children to one... yet she is now in charge of policy for all of them.

itd be like me becoming the US ambassador for China having never stepped foot over there. its just stupid. not to mention the pay for play shes clearly guilty of, but I digress.
As a parent of a child on the waiting list for a charter school, yea this is exactly what we don't need more of.
so what u gonna do, force parents to be in schools they don't wanna be in for their kids? you already know what happens...it's called private school.

NYC Mayor Deblasio tried to go to war with Success Academy, a fabulously run charter school network in da city on behalf of da Teachers Union, and his constituency (and his own Governor) rebelled against him...turns out minorities and low-income parents care about education and da choice for their kids too.
parents aren't gonna send their kids to failing school if they have a choice... Homeschool, Catholic school, private, charter, etc.

so what's it's gonna be.. you gonna force parents to go to schools they don't want? there's isn't a credible answer for da status quo.
I don't think you understand, PARENTS ALREADY HAVE A CHOICE. All those items you listed are available now, but one thing that will always limit somebody, MONEY. If a parent has no choice, because financially they cannot afford a private school or transportation to take their child to that "better" charter school.

So again, if a school is failing the answer cannot be to just remove your child because the children who are left because their choices are limited will be damaged. You have a general understanding of how this all works but you are coming up short on this one
