***Official Political Discussion Thread***

. I was making a economic statement, not political.

wrong thread, cuz in this thread you need to know how stuff is gonna fly politically as well.

public option is gone, democrats killed it. when Obamacare fails, there won't be any Republican fingerprints on da cadaver, political strategy wise Democrats in safe seats should've voted for Ryan's bill so da eventual explosion gets laid on da feet of da GOP.

now? pssh... be safe thou

A couple Dems, like two, mainly one, killed it.

The public option passed the House. It is a popular policy. It serious reform bill should include it.

And sorry, this thread will not stop talking economics and policy just because you can't keep up. If you can't do that, then you're in the wrong thread. Might as well go to TAN

2 votes in da senate isnt some glib after thought.

fact of da matter is... Obamacare is a timebomb and time is running out, da $64,000 question is who's gonna get their heads blown off politically when it finally does.

BTW more generally, not talking to the bigmouth bass, when I say Dems should push a public option, I don't mean they should talk about strictly adding them to marketplace plans like Clinton was suggesting. Nor should they propose completely reworking the health insurance industry like wonk Bernie.

They just need to proposed that any American citizen can buy into Medicare by paying premiums. They will cap the out of pocket expense based on income, and say that uncapping the Medicare tax will help pay for it. This plays well when Bernie pitches it in town halls.

That is easy to sell, people will be able to wrap their head around it and feel they have sufficient detail.

If you're poor and your state didn't expand Medicaid, come get Medicare for free

If you job offers **** medical that is too expensive, come get Medicare for a decent price

If you are retiring early or work for a sole proprietor, we got you.

bamma just got sonned

The mental gymnastics doesn't stop, these guys had 7 years to come up with a plan and failed. They had over 50 hearings on repealing "Obamacare" and failed. Their loud mouth president ran on "repeal and replace" Obamacare and won the election. Now, they come up with a bill, that everyone said it was bad, their president backs it '100%' (his words) and it fails.

But somehow it's the Democrats who 'own' the failure when Obamacare 'fails', but not the party in charge of the 3 branches of government that promise to 'repeal and replace"

YOU CAN'T MAKE UP THIS JEDI MIND TRICK. YOU NEED TO FIND A BETTER WAY TO USE YOUR 18HRS.

Chucky better shine up da amendments he was talking bout...

obamacare is gonna blow up, Democrats thought it would delay da inevitable past 2017 thinking Clinton was gonna win and Obama was out of office.

as it stands, da GOP have no fingerprints on da current legislation, only way anything changes is if Democrats knowing they're gonna get blamed on 2018 offer some amendments.

You have to remember that the modern day conservative moment and the Trump wave is based on a ton of failed masculinity as well. I mean just look at so many Trump supporters

A ton of man boys that have a way more inflated imagine of themselves, than what the world sees them as.

So they might really think they could have replace the ACA easily, or even that their Ls are Ws, they will never accept that the world sees them as the inadequate clowns that they truly are.

After seeing how this healthcare bill played out I wouldn't be surprised if Trump doesn't get any major bills passed. I thought healthcare was supposed to be the easy part since repubs have literally been trying to repeal it for 7 years. The moderate Republicans and the conservative wing most likely won't agree on a massive tax overhaul either.

Someone needs to put together a montage of the numerous times Trump said he was gonna repeal and replace the ACA as soon as he got in office.

Also, not sure why Trump & Co thinks letting Obamacare death spiral will be beneficial to them. Seems like they'll be blamed for failing to pass healthcare reform since they actually had the opportunity with a unified government.

He will get a tax bill passed one way or another, he will get a Justice on the Supreme Court, but he is gonna be hit with filibuster after filibuster soon.

Forgot to post earlier

cuz its not their bill.

da Democratic amendments offered shall be interesting to watch.

Obama fought for the ACA, defended it, built a coalition, negotiated with the GOP and spoke to the American people about it. Trump has tweeted, hung out in Florida, and generally ****** around for a while during all of this.

Is this really Trump being "fantastic" and "giving it his all"? How is this anything but weak orange leadership?

Doesn't matter at this point, they have a unified government. They were elected based on the premise that they would repeal and/or replace the ACA. You think if Obama didn't save the banks in 2008 he would have been able to say that it isn't his fault since he inherited the problem. The governing party owns the issues of the country. That's how it works.

Ninjaburbs should be thankful that the ACA still exists. Now he'll be able to cop da Hemi sooner than later.

Obama had caucuses with the GOP that aired on national television too.

The caliber of the President Obama was will never be match by this Orange Buffoon

more like Paul Ryan sold a bill of goods he couldn't confirm.

we forgetting Obamacare passed on a lie? its not affordable and its currently on a death spiral. Trump should've kept da "let it fall on its own" stance early on.

keystone XL just got green lit,

on to tax reform.

The spin here is amazing. Your guy said it was a 'great bill' and backed it '100%'. Your guy gave out ultimatum to his party about passing this bill, but somehow he gets a pass? After he ran on 'repeal and replace', even said "day one" no less.

Are we forgetting that your party has undermined the law by not accepting the funds for expansion? Are we forgetting the states that did the expansion the law is actually working?

For someone that claims to be an 'independent' you sure use the same word salad the GOP uses.

The CBO said the ACA is not currently in a death spiral and most people that gain coverage through the ACA got it at a much lower cost that before. Last I heard Medicaid was very affordable.

18 of news and still ignorant of basic ****.

Talk about a boy screaming that he can be a better firefighter than the pro, only to be brought to the scene of an arson and say "not my fire"

This is their government. Anything that happens under their watch his theirs. That is how government works.

8 years of protesting. Now it's time to lead.

Lol classic moving the goalposts today we just saw from the trump slurpers

Went from Obamacare is going to get immediatedly repealed from day 1 in a Trump admin a couple months back to now calling Obamacare a death spiral and that the repubs will wait for it to die

Idk how much spinning you can do before you get dizzy
