Republican lawmakers moved to dismantle landmark internet privacy protections for individuals on Thursday, the first decisive strike against telecommunications and technology regulations created during the Obama administration and a harbinger for more deregulation to come.

In a 50-to-48 vote largely along party lines, the Senate Republican majority on Thursday voted to overturn the privacy rules, which had been created in October by the Federal Communications Commission.

The move means a company like Verizon or Comcast can continue tracking and sharing people’s browsing and app activity without asking their permission. An individual’s data collected by these companies also does not need to be secured with “reasonable measures” against hackers. The privacy rules, which had sought to address these issues, were scheduled to go into effect at the end of this year.

late pass but I just heard about this today

VPNs can help sidestep this right?

They needed to get it done by April 15th because that is why they scrambled so much

But yes, they have been talking for 7 years plus, and still came up with some last minute bs

more like Paul Ryan sold a bill of goods he couldn't confirm.

we forgetting Obamacare passed on a lie? its not affordable and its currently on a death spiral. Trump should've kept da "let it fall on its own" stance early on.

The spin here is amazing. Your guy said it was a 'great bill' and backed it '100%'. Your guy gave out ultimatum to his party about passing this bill, but somehow he gets a pass? After he ran on 'repeal and replace', even said "day one" no less.

Are we forgetting that your party has undermined the law by not accepting the funds for expansion? Are we forgetting the states that did the expansion the law is actually working?

For someone that claims to be an 'independent' you sure use the same word salad the GOP uses.

its as easy as Trump isnt da typical political figure and he isn't da reason da bill failed, da public knows that, definitely his supporters know that.

there us no spin about Obamacare dying on its own, politically dems shouldve helped da GOP pass da bill and wait till da grenade blew up with their prints on it...as it stands now? its still Obamacare, da way Democrats intended it to be.

some leader he is.... No wonder he couldnt/cant get **** done.

politically dems shouldve helped da GOP pass da bill

The Democrats should be out here saying they saved the American people from this terrible disastrous bill named Trumpcare. Still about 3 and half hours to do da politics, maybe you'll find a new way to spin it.

I think the smart move is, Trump and company fix the problems with "Obamacare" and use that as a win, but na, they kept selling wolf tickets and playing the blame game.

18 hours of daily political news talk will teach you the best spin
Too bad you won't get to learn the actual technicalities and details

Chucky better shine up da amendments he was talking bout...

obamacare is gonna blow up, Democrats thought it would delay da inevitable past 2017 thinking Clinton was gonna win and Obama was out of office.

as it stands, da GOP have no fingerprints on da current legislation, only way anything changes is if Democrats knowing they're gonna get blamed on 2018 offer some amendments.

Because the GOP has shown the slightest sign of accountability for anything....even if TrumpCare passed and it was an absolute disaster, Obama would have been blamed

Take your L Trumpette.

your wrong about that, Democrats would've came out smelling like a rose had Ryan's plan passed and Hindenburged within 2 years.

now? Obamacare still sinking with no GOP prints on it.
