Get paid to drive?

Has anyone ever done one of these?

my friend used to do this... he would drive hookers around... he said he got paid but it was dangerous

There's this service here in San Francisco called Lyft. It's very similar to how Uber works, just not as fancy or expensive. You use your own car to drive people around. The user requests a ride, and the nearest driver will receive that request. Driver picks up passenger and takes them to their desired destination. To keep things non-commercial and legal, the passenger is given a "suggested donation" based on the time/distance of the ride. I drive part-time when I'm not at my full-time internship and the money I make averages out to about $25 an hour.
