Is Dez Bryant really overrated?

What does drafting a slot receiver in the first round have to do with whether or not hes better than DHB?

Well, initially, Crabtree was brought into the conversation when talking about draft disappointments and make no mistake, Michael Crabtree is a disappointment. That's why SF brought in 423532523 receivers this offseason. Considering who ya'll thought he was going to be, it's safe to say he's reached his peak already. Last year, DHB outperformed him in terms of yards and has the greater ceiling between the two. Going forward, there's really no doubt in my mind DHB is the receiver you want on your team.

don't really care for this thread but this made me chuckle

He's been killing it since week 4 (when this thread was made coincidentally).

Look at you. Look at your tears.

You seem forget who's my teams WR is.

Nice job getting back to .500 though :D

And btw dude has been killing it.

Finally starting to put it together.

Sucks he plays for the girls though.

I was meaning to bump this. 6 100 yard games, 8 TDs and 1000 yards with 4 games left makes me chuckle too

Only on NT though. I'll be back tomorrow to post some #'s showing Dez is doing better in this third year than many other WR's who NT proclaims as the best year and year out in their third year.

Switching sides now, don't want to admit he was wild wrong.
You're funny guy.

 at being wild wrong about Dez
 at doing your best to not admit it, and now giving him props like you weren't the main one calling him a bust
 at resorting to jokes about my team's record even though it has nothing to do with this thread
:smh: because if I were bring up Superbowls you'd b***h... hard. Gotta love double standards.

So...here's how overrated Dez is: He now has more touchdowns than Calvin Johnson (21) did in his first three seasons with 25. Keep in mind, Dez only played 12 games his rookie season, missed an entire year of football by being suspended for having dinner with Deion Sanders, and played with a team in 2010 that QUIT on their HC. Here's a look at how Dez compares to some other notable receivers after their first 3 seasons:

Calvin Johnson- 21
Larry Fitzgerald- 24
Andre Johnson- 12
Brandon Marshall- 15
Reggie Wayne- 11

So Dez now has more TD's in three seasons than Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald did. He's also playing, now, with a broken finger which puts him at risk for the remainder of his career by possibly limiting his ability to catch. All this while Tony Romo is having his WORST year as a starter statistically (Yeah, can you imagine 22 TDs, 13 Ints, and 4,100 yards are CAREER WORSTS for Romo).

I say we hurry up and cut Dez since NT are obviously great GM's and they've explained in detail how, and why Dez Bryant is overrated.

^^ Not sure what the gif is supposed to indicate, but Beasley is coming into his own as a reliable slot WR

I don't think Dez is overrated, but this is the worst attempt at trying to make up reasons for somebody's numbers possibly being lower that I've ever seen. "Keep in mind, he was on a team where everybody quit on their coach and he got ruled ineligible. Imagine how much better he would have been if not for those two things!"

Despite the Cowboys having quit on their coach or whatever you said, they still had really good offenses and he still had Romo throwing to him. Calvin Johnson had freaking Jon Kitna, Dan Orlovsky, and Daunte Culpepper throwing to him his first couple years  I would think that might limit his TD's a little bit.

Dez had John Kitna throwing to him in 2010. Dez was the third WR in 2010 and didn't move into the #2 spot until after we got rid of Roy. Megatron has always at least been the #2 receiver on his team. So yeah, that makes a significant difference. Not playing football for two years, missing training camp, breaking your leg mid season, and then not having an off season following that season ending injury due to the lockout is also a big deal. But whatever, we'll just negate all that. Dez still has better #s in his first 3 years. Period point blank.

And before you jump down my throat, no one believes Dez is better than Andre, Calvin or Fitz. But I'm pointing out how NT lets their hatred for Cowboys blind their judgment. The guy who is supposedly overrated has better stats in 3 years than many of the WR's this very forum puts on a pedestal.

And for the record, first 39 games --

Michael Irvin: 151 catches for 2,606 yards and 18 TDs.

Dez Bryant: 179 catches for 2,467 yards and 23 TDs.

Im a hardcore cowboy fan and watch every snap from every game this year. The thing with Dez Bryant is he is a great athlete but at times under achieves.Earlier in the year he was running the wrong routes and not understanding the hot routes that Romo was calling. They finally got him on the right page lately and I am proud that he is doing better, but still think he can improve alot to become a more polish reciever. I seems that if its a 3rd and long with the game on the line Romo has more confindence throwing to Witten and Miles Austin then Dez Bryant. I get mad when he is having a 9 catch 200 yard game and romo doesnt throw the ball to him to finish the game, then I look at the flim and see him running half *** routes and not breaking off the ball fast. His WR fundamentals are cheecks
