T-Mac Thank You Letter to the NBA

Easily my favorite player in the early 2000s. Dude definitely could have been among the all time greats if he put in the work.

Still, the things he could do on the court so effortlessly :x

Nice scoring player. When he was young & healthy.

But that's about it.Never played a lick of defense in his career.Wasn't clutch and maybe hit a total of 5 game winning or tying shots in his career.

T-Mac slurpers are crazy if they think he belongs in the Hall Of Fame.

That's ridiculous, he was always a solid rebounder and was an extremely under-rated passer.

He was the go-to guy and carried the team despite never having a 2nd reliable go to option in Orlando. By the time he did (Yao), both were constantly getting hurt.

Ok I'll agree with the points of T-Mac being a good passer and solid rebounder.

But can you or any of his fans make a case for him being a Hall Of Fame player ?

His playoff record sure isn't going to help him out

T-Mac > Kobe (C) 2004

FALSE !

Watch this match up from the 03-04 season:

T-Mac scored all of his points in the first 3 quarters when Rick Fox & Devean George is mainly guarding him. 4th quarter Kobe takes the challenge and guards him and literally shut him down while Kobe took over and led the Lakers back for the win in OT.T-Mac I think in this game had like a total of 4 or 6 more points in the 4th & OT combined in this game.

One game. Show the game in Orlando during the same season g. Kobe (albeit holding a bit against T-Mac) had a great performance on the Defensive end, but that doesn't take away what t-mac was doing in the first 3 quarters. And Like I said, in Orlando during the same season, what happened?

And if Chris Mullen can make it into the hall, T-Mac can make it into the hall.

03-04 season Kobe went on his 9 game tear where he put up 40+ a night.Second longest stretch only to Wilt.

Chris Mullen is in the HOF for a reason dude was a GREAT player. He didn't make the OG 1992 Dream Team for nothing.

T-Mac falls in the same class of Penny Hardway great scoring players who could also pass very nice. Both guys who were constantly injured throughout their careers.

Both guys aren't getting into the HOF.

Still got his 2001 jersey, and a autographed Spalding that Yao and him signed. :smokin.

For anyone that watched ball in the early 2000's, T-Mac was a BETTER all around player than Kobe. Better outside shooter, better passer, ball handler, rebounder, defender, smooth as hell. (His best season he avged 32, 6 and 5 with only 2 turnovers, top blocking guard for like 4 yrs straight). Is he a Hall of Fame caliber player? Absolutely. Will he get in? Most likely not. But pple need to take into account the teammates he had... Grant Hill was in a wheelchair, and he had Mike Miller, Gordon Giricek and Drew Gooden as his 2nd best players, LOL.

I will fault him for not getting past the first round, tho. He was up 3-1 against the Hornets and Pistons and said something along the lines of (sic) "It's finally nice to be out of the first round" with the other teams coming back and knocking the Magic out the first round . Then that one year with Yao when they were up 2-0 against the Mavs and THEY STILL lost in 7. Don't forget the 22 game win streak when they lost to the ****** Utah Jazz two years in a row, SMH. Thx for the memories, T-Mac.

I don't know about HOF, but he elevated his game during the playoffs.

You're arguing against no one. No body said he belongs in the HOF :rolleyes

There's a difference between giving someone props for being an entertaining player versus overhyping his career.

I started to follow basketball right around the time he went to Orlando.
Personally my favorite player ever since :smokin

Kobe vs. T-Mac during the 03-04 season is very debate able.

I always hate the "4th quarter shut down" argument. There's ar eason he didnt try him those first three quarters. He kept his legs fresh until the 4th and then went off. It's like in Streets of Rage when you gotta battle the boss after fighting your homie. He only wins cause your energy is low.

Why are people trying to make a big deal about him not thanking Vince? All of the Raps he thanked were vets on their way out, and he thanked them for showing him the ropes.

VC & T-Mac played together for 1 lockout shortened & 1 full season when they were both ~20 y/o... the hell does he have to thank VC for? Because they're very distant cousins? For being overshadowed by VC, thus motivating him to get out of Toronto?

Smart decision, much more money to be made in China, and he can have a much bigger impact on a CBA team.

Lol at him going to china for more money while Kobe still in the NBA playing at elite level making the most money in the nba this season.. Tmac shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Kobe

Brandon Roy > tmac

Being 'Hall of Fame caliber' is very different from making it to the Hall of Fame. He even says so himself. Talent-wise, I don't see how anyone can argue T Mac was NOT Hall of Fame caliber.
