T-Mac Thank You Letter to the NBA

Healthy McGrady in his prime was def a top 5 player in this NBA.

I'll tell you this, being a Knick fan. I'd rather have a healthy T-Mac in his prime than Carmelo Anthony.

T-Mac could be better than Durant when they were the same age. He had better post moves and was much more aggressive than Durant. Damn.

If Tim Duncan had signed with the Magic that summer with T-Mac & Grant Hill the Lakers would have been in real trouble. Couple Magic championships at least.

Insert obligatory 13 points in 33 seconds post.
Getting to watch that live on tv is one of my favorite basketball moments. I was in awe the whole time :wow:. I was so close to changing the channel before it started but didn't for some reason 8).

03-04 season Kobe went on his 9 game tear where he put up 40+ a night.Second longest stretch only to Wilt.
Chris Mullen is in the HOF for a reason dude was a GREAT player. He didn't make the OG 1992 Dream Team for nothing.
T-Mac falls in the same class of Penny Hardway great scoring players who could also pass very nice. Both guys who were constantly injured throughout their careers.
Both guys aren't getting into the HOF.

That's nice that you are posting what kobe did that season, now...post what tmac did that year

If you are going to sit here and say that Mullen is a better player than Tmac (and penny for that matter) then I don't know what to say

Thanks TMAC.

Everyone had those black and blue Adidas back in the day. EVERYONE.

. T-Mc was very appreciate sans the 13 points in 33 seconds Fiasco, he gets no love from me for that.

Can't believe he's out of the league when just last year he was a top 10 player in terms of impact on the game

Lol at him going to china for more money while Kobe still in the NBA playing at elite level making the most money in the nba this season.. Tmac shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Kobe
Brandon Roy > tmac

First off, he would not be going to China if an NBA team would've offered him a contract, even if it was just the vet min.

Second - at least give the man props for staying dedicated to the game and wanting to extend his career, even if that means going overseas. Don't act like going to China is taking the easy way out. Yea, the competition is not NBA elite, but it's damn hard going to a country with the exact opposite culture and ideals he is used to here in the States.

Third - Yes, T-Mac should be mentioned in the same sentence as Kobe, to an extent at least. I will argue that T-Mac was a better overall scorer than Kobe for awhile and from 2002-2004, was a better overall player than Kobe. Not many people could carry a team on his back (LITERALLY) like Mac did in Orlando. C'mon...Giricek and Pat Garrity as your best number 2 options? Yea, T-Mac maybe could've done more strength training to help prevent his body from breaking down like it did. But the guy had to exert 110% EVERY NIGHT EVERY GAME, just for that team to have a CHANCE to win the game. He carried his teams to the point of his back and knee giving out on him.

BTW, no I'm not a Kobe hater, quite the opposite. But even I will admit for a couple years, T-Mac was the man who I would pick over Kobe.

hopefully he does his thing in china and leads his team to a chip. is he joining the same league marbury is in??

Look man Kobe's my favorite player and the reason why I started following ball back in 97, but for a couple years Tmac was definitely on Kobe's level. Who was the better player during that period is completely subjective and it is not outrageous to debate either way. I would say that Tmac was naturally more physically gifted than Kobe and maybe even more talented but Kobe's dedication to the game and longevity speaks for itself esp now. Still, Tmac was a great GREAT player and he's going out a class act. Respect :smokin

Salute to McGrady. As a Magic fan, he was one of my favorite players back in his prime. Sucks that he had all those back problems.

McGrady wasn't on Kobe's level? Foolishness. Mac didn't play with one of the 3 best centers of all time or in the league at any point in his career and he STILL put numbers up.

so filthy, during his best years it was Kobe and T-Mac at the top from the SG position :x

I dont know about HOF but I honestly think that for a stretch dude was one of the best scorers the league has ever seen. It was just so easy for him, 6'8 or 6'9 could score from ANYWHERE on the floor. Those Kobe vs Tmac debates in H.S were legendary. I always went with Kobe cuz of his heart, Tmac never had that. He had a great career though.
