Custom Sneakers

I hope I am not violating any rules here but I had to ask the following:

I've seen a bunch of sneakers out there that have been customized by artists. Recently, I saw a pair actually on sale. Shoes were going for like $1000. What are your thoughts on these sneakers that were not samples or released but customized by others selling for so much?

They can price how ever they want, its their custom artwork (minus the initial build of the shoe).

I wouldn't pay that price, but Im sure there are people that do.

Side note: Posts get washed out in the move or do u actually only have 2 posts in 6 years?

They certainly can price them at 1K. You see shoes that aren't one of a kind, or hard to attain at 1K time to time. They'll both likely sit too. I think the pricing is ridiculous. You can go to an auction and buy some good art with a thousand bucks.

Thanks for your input. I agree with you and, personally, would not pay much at all any custom artwork designs.

My post count also was washed out in the transition. I joined in 06, posted a couple of times, and went on a 4 year hiatus from NT. Came back in late 2010. Been wearing Js since the 7th grade when I got the All-Star/Playoff XIIs.

I've seen some exceptional customs over the years. I'm all for it as an artistic outlet. As far as price goes, it's up to them. A lot of work is put into some of the customs you'll see. A grand sounds pretty steep, but if that's how much they value their time then so be it. You also have to consider materials.

I lot of time is put into some of those shoes. Don't thin that any shoe is really worth $1,000. I've noticed as time goes on customs just seem to be a projection of another shoes popular colorway onto a different model. Not as much "artwork" is involved.

Customs are usually one of a kind, so therefore, the price is at the buyer's discretion.

I've always wanted to take a pair of playoff XII's and convert them into this for personal use....

its the cost to stand out. u paying to be different, one of a kind. i personally wouldnt pay $1000 tho. you can find a better deal than that you have to look around

For me, customs are simply a way of making something I want that Nike won't give me. As for that $1000 price, I would NEVER pay that, but I've
certainly paid more for a painting on canvas, so it's all relative. And from the artists perspective, their time is worth X amount per hour so if I put
20+ hrs into a shoe for myself, it's fairly easy to turn down a "large" amount of money, when that much time on canvas would warrant 2- 3Xs the price.
just my opinion

I love custom works. They offer something different.

But these works usually have a higher price tag because the shoe artist charge them by time.

Don't **** up your kicks. Send them to kingofsneakers. They get down..made my kobe 7 elites into my version of wtk 8

just stumble upon this, these are way easier to do now, i hope you did these with the gamma 12s

I'm not a fan of painted kicks really, HUGE fan of leather/material swap customs. I'd only pay near a grand for some premium work done to my kicks never a paint job. just my op.

I can't believe this is the only "Custom" thread on here.

All that knowledge must be on youtube or something.
