OFFICIAL BEATMAKING / PRODUCTION THREAD Vol. New NT

Wanted to drop this off. My homie just dropped his first project since graduating for audio design. He took the commercial for Dragon Age inquisition, stripped all the sound out of it and redid their trailer. So every sound in there is his doing. I'm just trying to help him out get him some real feedback etc etc. I think he killed it honestly. even put a hiphop twist on their music. What yall think

Seen in the other thread, rework/remix is nice. You're really good at this remixing stuff, did a Rock The Boat Remix awhile ago and Idk about it. Also check your PM. :nerd:

New song.

Does anyone in here know how to make drums? Everytime I do make a sound to keep it ends up with a slight delay at the beginning and I wanted to stop having this happen.

Currensy I think all you gotta do is turn the trim knob on the sounds all the way to the right its the most right knob where crossfade and revesre sound button is located

I do that already but I meant like just loading the sample up and being able to use it no tweaking. One of my friends just told me too make the sound then make it as an MP3/WAV then just use edision to cut out the space and then resave it as the sound I just made, I appreciate the help though man!

Gonna check your **** out when I get back Godry.

Honestly you're not bad you just need to take some more time to refine your sound & get better at mixing. I don't know how long you have been making music but when mixing your beat turning everything down to a sort of low level, like 9dbs, and raising it back up with a Multiband Compressor (everyones process is different but this is what I use) will level everything out so it bumps but the sounds aren't so in your face and extra loud. Like everything will melt into place and sound more cohesive and leveled, and you'll sound more "professional".

Really appreciate the listen and the feedback fam and yea, sometimes I turn certain things higher while mixing because I feel like other people wouldn't be able to hear them otherwise. I feel like I'm the one who made it so of course I can hear it fine, and then I end up overcompensating.

I guess I just gotta trust my own ear more.

The trick to not overcompensating is listening to your instrumentals on some standard cheap headphones/earbuds. Maybe like Apple earbuds or something like that for reference. Really I'm just telling you this cause people ain't really tell me anything when I started and I know how it is figuring it out on your own.

That there is a good tip! Going to play around with that.

I appreciate it fam! I'm trying. Joints you've been posting are dope too, mane.

Checking my PM as well. 8)

Also...

Did you try checking the INS tab under the channel settings menu? You can mess w/ the envelope of one shot sounds in there & raise the attack.

Try the "Trim" knob under the SMP tab under "Precomputed effects".

Hopefully that helps!

You got beats?

:nerd:

Indeed, pleighboy.

save it as a wav file from the playlist. make it a one shot type of wave just like the ones in your kits. i have a TEKtheMAESTRO kit in my system of things ive made or my favorite stuff. I'll make something. throw it into the playlist. save it inside of my kit as a .wav file. tada. yall overthink **** lol

Word? Do it. Another thing I recently started doing is making send channels for my drums. Adding a couple effects such as delay and reverb can do a lot so that your drums are a little more open.

@currensy

I mean it makes sense. When your trying to really learn how to mix and figure out your own, this really makes sense for what I'm trying to do. Compression is a way to bring up the loudness without gaining distortion. So why not just apply that trick to the whole track then.

because some sounds do need to be louder than others. and compressing a whole track often has unintended effects. one day ill get into mixing seriously. as of now im too focused on perfecting MY craft to want to reach into another. ill let an engineer handle mixing since its his job. my job is to bring the fire. his job is to cultivate it and make it roar.

Anyone gone to Windows 10 yet?

If so, how's it working for your VSTs and other plugins?

I've been wondering the same thing.

I heard it's tight but I'm not sure if I wanna make the switch depending on this.
