I finished my second sole swap project last night and I wanted to share the results with you all today:

The command force midsoles had long since crumbled away and the uppers were prettty beat up, so since I had already done one sole swap sucessfully, I decided it was time to bring these back to life. I used a pair of late 90's turf shoes as the donors, left some of the material around the edges at the bottom to help get a better seal and to cover up places where they didnt match up. They are both sz 12 and fit like a glove even before I glued them.

I know fusing early 90's basketball with late 90's turf is a risk, but there just arent alot of alternatives and I really wanted a wearable pair of these, even if I had to compromise on them not looking that og anymore.Im also thinking about doing an og neon color with black splatter or some sort of design on the back of them, but I havent decided exactally what yet. Let me know how yall think they came out!

Odd look for sure... but good work

Did you think about trying the Force 180 retros? Or did you not want to buy a $130 shoe just to take apart

I did consider it, but I decided against it for two reasons: the cost as you point out (suitable used pairs off ebay went for too much also) and I wanted a pair that would last. The 180 soles are poly based, so they will eventually rot and fall apart all over again; the soles I used wont do that.

I will be doing an og upper collar transplant on a pair of the 180 retros next month tho (I think it will be better than doing a sole swap) so those will be as close to og as I can make em.

I don't know you'll go about the collar transplant but I'm sure it'll turn out great! You did a real nice job on these too...

Nice job on those too, but well, weird design. 80s and early 90s shoes are more flat and simple, and then the mid 90s came and everything went curvy........
