Even though his salary isnt very high.....I still contend that Andres Torres was the worst signing of the 2012 offseason, like I said when we signed him. $2M is roughly $1.5M more than he should be getting paid.

Thanks for 2010 Andres.  Unless I am watching my World Series Bluray, I hope to never see you again.

This season has been frustrating.

By the way, if Belt continues his tear and ends his season on a high-note, would you give him another year at first?

That is putting it lightly to say the least.

If I was to use one word to classify this season, it would be "disaster."

No doubt in my mind they will give him another shot next year if he finishes strong. If he comes out next year and doesn't Do good the switch to 1b for Posey will be likelier to happen. We desperately need more production from our corner positions. Pablo needs to lose another 20 and it'll be interesting what Sabes does with left field.

What's the reason for it? New to the baseball scene and trying to get a better understanding...Are they out of the playoffs for sure?

Yes. For sure. Although mathematically this wasnt the case, most of us have felt we have been out of the playoff race for months.

What's the reason for this year's downfall?

I'm gonna try to make a game this season; hopefully tickets are much much more cheaper...

Lack of pitching(although this has improved a lot), lack of hitting, bad defense, lack of middle relief, injuries, basically everything that can go wrong went wrong.

Sloppy defense all year, injuries, timely hitting being nonexistent, shoddy pitching for most of the year. To say expectations were not met would be giving this year's squad credit. Whatever you can think of, it went wrong. But most of all, and Dland posted it, the Dawg was banned.
Giants pay $545K in back wages
SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco Giants have paid nearly $545,000 in back wages and damages to 74 clubhouse and administrative employees for violations of minimum wage, overtime and record-keeping laws, federal officials said Thursday.

Investigators found clubhouse employees were working more hours than were recorded but receiving only a flat pay rate that amounted to less than the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, the U.S. Department of Labor said.

The Giants were also accused of not paying employees overtime.

"I am encouraged that the Giants acted to resolve this issue, but it was disappointing to learn that clubhouse workers providing services to high-paid sports stars weren't making enough to meet the basic requirements of minimum-wage law," Susana Blanco, the director of the San Francisco office of the Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division, said in a statement.

The alleged violations occurred over a three-year period, according to the labor department.

Giants spokeswoman Staci Slaughter said the team changed its clubhouse compensation system before the labor department's inquiry. She said labor officials did not account for other sources of clubhouse employees' income, including tips and dues.

"The San Francisco Giants worked cooperatively with the Department of Labor in conducting a comprehensive review of our payroll records to identify and address any possible issues of concern," Slaughter said in a statement. "The matter was resolved and reported on several months ago."

DOL officials said the team also improperly classified a number of employees as exempt from overtime pay, including clubhouse managers and video operators at the major and minor league levels. Slaughter said the dollar amount in those instances was a small portion of the $545,000.
