Official 2023 San Francisco Giants Off-Season Thread - Jung Hoo Lee signs with SF 6-years $113 Million

Let's be honest here.  We all want him to stay.  But if you were in his shoes, and you already have won three rings, doesn't money completely trump winning at this point?  I mean, for some, money trumps winning PERIOD.  But after three rings already?  I don't see how Pablo doesnt go after the money.  I would.

And if the reports that we offered him 5 years for $90M are true, he is as good as gone.

lets give him what he wants, 6 years and nine figures.

6/100 get it done sabes. im starting to worry.

red sox offering pablo 5yr $95 million

If the reports of this offer and our 5/$90M are both accurate, I seriously doubt Pablo leaves for a difference of $1M a season, for the same length of time. However there are reports that. Boston will include weight bonuses too. So if that number is $19M a season with an extra, say $2M a year in weight bonuses, I can see that being enough to make him leave.

6? Nahh. We have no DH option here in the NL

I really dont see the big deal with 6 years vs. 5 years if the team really wants to keep him. He's said the 6 years is important to him, and it make our case alot better if we dont match the annual value of boston or SD

Years is always important to players knowing the next contract won't be as lucrative. The 6th year is more for financial security with his ability diminishing by the time he's 34.

Edit: we signed Huff when he was 33 and extended him when he was 34, that didn't work out too well.

just not sure i was to spend 90+ on a guy for that long with a history of weight issues with no DH as a fall back

Tons of fat *** players have earned their check in weight. Kirby puckett, tony gwynn, cecil fielder, and the legend kevin mitchell [emoji]128513[/emoji][emoji]128077[/emoji]
