laugh.gif at protecting the brand from a tarnished legacy. Lucas managed to do that on his own. He should forever be grateful that FOX thought the franchise would fail and gave him full royalties to merchandise.

LucasArts, Industrial Light and Magic, Skywalker Sound all of that stuff is under the Lucasfilm umbrella.  Disney owns all of that now.

your right, it was mentioned, but I wouldve thought they wouldve made more of a deal about it. You have a top notch studio with a huge back library. Imagine seeing a Monkey Island kids movie

plus this means that Disney itself can start putting out some great games, since they have a studio in house

No Lucas, and they will recast Luke, Han and Leia. Diff time, diff generation, they could move ahead where they are all old and actually use the same people, Harrison Ford, etc, but no one wants to see them in their 70's, unless it's a Kenobi type usage.

I'm guessing they will simply have to recast them and move ahead after Jedi 5 years or so, my guess, we see Thrawn's storyline play out, which will be UNBELIEVABLE. smokin.gif

I NEVER thought Lucas would sell. This is unbelievable. I'm so freaking geeked right now.

Thrawn, Mara Jade, Yuuzhan Vong, planet of the Sith, Talon Karde, Palleon, Jacen, Jaina, Anakin (not that one) the characters are ENDLESS.

This is an amazing day.

I've always been interested to see a film  involving Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Solo. Ben too

 

I dont follow it heavy, but the length the Star Wars timeline goes is intriguing as hell

The franchise was already ruined with the last 3 episodes. Maybe Disney can improve and make some better flicks but I'm not all that interested yet.

I do hope they James Bond Indiana Jones. Let Ford retire and find somebody new to be Indy so we can keep getting some of the best action adventure history based archaeological mystery movies out there.

While the PT didn't live up to the standards of OT, Star Wars is probably bigger than ever nowadays. That Clone Wars show is pretty good and Celebration VI last month was a zoo. All 6 episodes of the saga already have their place in history and to me, more Star Wars movies, the better.

This is what has made me hate George Lucas for so long. There is TONS of material out there, TONS. They could make a new movie every 3 years til the end of time. Seriously, I have every single one of those books I listed, and have read them all. They all translate onto film. Now that doesn't mean you would have to do a book film for film, you could combine multiple books into a film, or a trilogy, or whatever, but you should be able to see Star Wars 47 someday EASY. When he did 1-3, and said he didn't have time for 7-9, I wanted to kill him. He's so full of ****. Phantom was 99, Clones 02, Sith 05, he coulda done 7 in 08, 8 in 11 ,and 9 shoulda been out in 2014.

But oh well, I won't bash the dude anymore, we're getting what we want, FINALLY. AND, without his dumb ***, hopefully no more Jar Jar Binks type ****. Disney worries me with the "kiddieness" angle, but they didn't over kid it for Avengers and the Marvel franchise, no reason they should do it to Star Wars. They can easily still keep movies in the PG-13 area and still have plenty of darkness in it.

This is really shocking. Why would Lucas sell something he himself founded. He could have stepped down and still had other people run the company.

 

This is a Power Move by Disney. 4 Billion dollars is a STEAL. For the entire Lucas Film Company? eek.gif

That's Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Not to mention Lucasfilm has been the leading the industry in special effects since they were founded.

They're going to make that 4 Billion back back so fast.

I guarantee the films are going to great. Disney did justice to both Pixar and Marvel properties.

I just realized.... they will finally release the ORIGINAL Star Wars Trilogy on Bluray (not that BS George Lucas Greedo shooting first, etc). Today my friends is a win for the Rebel Alliance!

Star Wars was my entire childhood growing up. Like most diehards, I hated the prequel trilogy. I'm a bit reserved that this may turn out bad, but I'm extremely hyped for this. I wonder what direction they're gonna go with since the EU is so damn big.

dont worry, be happy.  disney has some amazing talent at their disposa (writers/composers etc), they are going to do this series justice i can just about guarantee it......im beyond geeked this is incredible.  

greatest of all time? Sit down, kay. The only film tht was solid through and through was Empire. ANH was ok, but Jedi was bad. The prequels werent bad, but they suffered from horrible casting and script choices. And I def agree. Cut out jar jar, and recast both anakins and the trilogy is great.

Lucas cant write dialogue. It isnt his strong suit. He needs to stick to consulting on the characters and world.
