Breaking: Disney Closes LucasArts

Now, from what I understand, the games...especially Knights of the Old Republic, have been the best newer Star Wars things outside of the Clone Wars cartoons.

So I take it, this sucks?

I'll remember to re-read this once casting starts.

Not a big deal, games will still get done, they're just hiring other companies to do the heavy lifting is all.

I don't like the laying off of 150 people who worked there, but I assume those folks will find gigs with the other companies that can outsource the games, not to mention get approval from Disney/Lucas itself.

In a way, it might be a good thing, Disney sounds like it is putting ALL FOCUS on the movies at this point. No games, books, etc. Get the movies up and running properly. Least I hope that's what it all means.

As for the casting, you see what I said in the our thread the other day? The girl that played Collins in the Blind Side, she is in that preview you posted, Mortal Instruments, City of Bones or something like that, that girl, she would be perfect for early 20's Jaina. (if they go straight to that age)

Chester brought up Dane DeHaan from Chronicle to play Jacen.

We'll see if we see these names ever get mentioned by Disney, ever.

The moment a first trailer hits will be amazing to me. I will seriously watch it 5 times back to back to back.

Those descriptions, though. Melted my mind.

I told you man, there is WORK in this realm. You really don't get it, that stuff you read, nothing. Absolutely, nothing. They didn't give you jack in terms of what is out there. What COULD be done. What should be done.

Thrawn, Karrde, Mara, Kyp, Jaina, Jacen, Jagged Fel (not Barron, he's pointless, Jagged is the character that needs to be explored) and Pelleon are incredible characters to put on screen. And that's to be fleshed out over YEARS. Dozens of movies could be made with this core group. Spin offs, trilogies, all of it. We haven't even spoke of the Vong, the Noghri, Anakin, the Dark Sisters, Callista, Saba, Lando's business ventures, and countless other things that need to be on screen someday. Your mind wou\ldn't be melted, it would be shot out the back of your head. You really have no idea.

The prequels would look like high school film school finals.

I encourage you to not have high expectations. While you are right that it would be amazing. I could easily see them not doing extended universe characters besides the kids

The fact that were getting more movies when it never seemed like a reality makes it impossible not to have high hopes for everything we have ever wanted.

There's high expectations, which many Star Wars fans are completely justified in having... then there's CP.

DOZENS OF MOVIES? Pump thy breaks. I'd feel bad if the expanded universe is completely ignored, but I'm also fine with them doing something new with the major movies. The extended universe could and should get an outlet in some smaller capacity, but we're really going to need the first one to be good before we get to thinking of multiple trilogies and dozens of movies.

No, Anakin does not, he is a hero in every sense. You're thinkin of someone else.

And J, I know they can skip the expanded, I know. But "dozens" of movies is the idea. I called it long ago, this is James Bond with spaceships. They can make a new Star Wars film every single year with completely different eras, groups, etc. All of it, without even using the EU. If they did add the EU, dozens will be a very small number.

It's an unending amount of source material out there without even tapping the already established cannon they have. Right now they could create 4 planets, species, characters, mix in a Jedi/Sith, war, dispute, resolution, done. Next, new planets, groups, ships, etc etc. It never stops. They can create til the end of time. It's that simple really.

They could, but would it be profitable?

I've never doubted the creativity or possibility, but a new Star Wars film  every single year? No, that won't happen. Cartoons, a TV series, and a movie every few years is the best case scenario. Everything you're describing sounds absolutely exhausting... and I'm a fan too.

There are encyclopedias of crap that's only in the movies... not even touching EU stuff. Seriously, head to Barnes & Noble and peep the Star Wars section. You can buy a 400 page guide to starships, 300 page guide to planets, etc.

I guarantee you could run an entire series based on smuggling, Nal Hutta, Ord Mantell, not even talk about or bring Jedi/Sith into it... and it would be amazing.

Disney could put out a Ewok sequel amd it would make 300 million at the least. Star Wars is arguably one of the 3 biggest entertainment franchises in history. GL doesn't have sole control anymore. They put out three Marvel movies every year, what makes people think they won't put out at least one Star Wars movie every year?. Disney has already said that the three sequel movies will be released every 3 years with Spin Offs released in between anyways. There really isn't a question that we'll see a movie every year, only question is what will the quality of those movies be.

J, you're already watching it happen.

Iron Man 2008
The Incredible Hulk 2008
Iron Man 2 2010
Thor 2010
Captain America 2011
The Avengers 2012
Iron Man 3 2013
Thor 2 2013
Captain America 2 2014
Guardians of the Galaxy 2014
The Avengers 2 2015
Ant Man 2015

Does that make you feel exhausted? It's different movies/storylines, but ALL tied to the same universe. All on one planet.

Now add a billion characters, millions of planets, and give the same spacing. 2015 to 2022, a dozen movies. They aren't ALL connected, but they aren't all UNconnected either.

1 movie per year is LITE. You could easily do 2 per. You could do 7 and a Fett spinoff, same year.
2016 you could do a Han Solo movie and say a pre everything movie, the Bane era for example
2017 you do episode 8 and a Jabba spin off.
2018 you do Fett 2 and Outbound Flight
2019 you do episode 9 and Solo 2.

You don't have to watch every movie, they don't all tie in one to another, but they can use and reuse characters, tie in storylines, hint at future issues/projects.

It can be done man. I'm dumb as ****, and I could outline a decade full of movies and get 20+ pictures on the big screen, all of them seperate, time taken to do it right, nothing overlap, spread out 6 months a picture, multiple directors/writers working together but on their own, multiple castings, and it would PRINT money. PRINT. You think I'm the only idiot that would line up to see that? That stupid *** Halle Berry movie made 40+ million, I gotta imagine Star Wars: Rogue Squadron would triple that.

Be quiet, stupid person.

I kind of went back on it as soon as you mentioned the Marvel movies and went "oh yeah... duh". Glad to hear the official word, despite my doubts I'm very excited to see what's to come.

If I want to be a jerk (and I do), we'll still have to see it happen first
