Disney is trolling with that 2015 projection.
This is clearly a move to cook the stock.

Other than that, I'll keep an open mind. Hoping for some KH stuff to happen.

they should definitely continue with the series onward. in other words not back track in the story. hopefully we will see Jacen Solo :pimp:

^^^

IMO, they should not do that. that's how they kind of messed up by doing the prequels. don't get me wrong the prequels were good but the last two were done very poorly because they had to make the stories connect and they had to cram everything.

I envision them doing it a lot like the X-Men series. You have the main 3 X-Men's, then a Wolverine spin off, then a First class spin off, etc.

You could see Star Wars 7 in 2015, do a KOTOR in 2016, Star Wars 8 in 2017, go back again to the Darth Bane series in 2018, Star Wars 9 in 2019, then start a Thrawn series in 2020, Bane again in 2021, KOTOR in 2022, etc etc.

Basically, they "could" do something every single year with the material that's out there. Will they? That I don't know. Could they? Yes, absolutely. And I hope they do. I would go see each and every one of those films.

My dream is that Disney will go find original prints of the OT, restore, scan at 4K and release a BluRay set of the OT untouched save for doing a High Def Audio Mix like Universal did with Jaws recently.

I have a modest ask...I'd like a cartoon like The Clone Wars (on Cartoon Network), but devoted to Bobba Fett. Movie of course would be more ideal, but a series would be able to tell so many stories...

enough of the lucas bashing. please cut that crap out. the prequels were NOT hot trash......were they underwhelming? did my imagination expect something more fun, more intellectual, more thorough?  Of course!  but my imagination was also greatly intrigued by the newfound fact that Darth Vader made c3p0 and therefore had a hand in his own redemption......man the prequels have some mind blowing stuff in it if u just need to get passed jar jar and the weak natalie portman/hayden christiansen dynamic.

Lucas is one of the greatest directors ever simply due to the fact that he  wrote and directed the GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE - star wars episode 4: a new hope.

which book exactly?

dont worry, be happy.  disney has some amazing talent at their disposa (writers/composers etc), they are going to do this series justice i can just about guarantee it......im beyond geeked this is incredible.
greatest of all time? Sit down, kay. The only film tht was solid through and through was Empire. ANH was ok, but Jedi was bad. The prequels werent bad, but they suffered from horrible casting and script choices. And I def agree. Cut out jar jar, and recast both anakins and the trilogy is great.

Lucas cant write dialogue. It isnt his strong suit. He needs to stick to consulting on the characters and world.
the only solid episode through and through was empire?  its halloween not april fools, buddy.

what makes something great? greatness is not to be compared with the mundane. however, it always originates from such a source.  Jesus Christ was a man of very humble beginnings, Bob Marley was raised in rural Jamaica before conquering the tumultuous underbelly of Trenchtown, and let us not forget Nasir Jones was raised with no silver spoon in his mouth.  keeping this in mind, star wars began in the thoughts of an intrigued youth by the name of george lucas, who through his weekly visits to his local (and surely, far from garish) cinema, became enthralled with the mechanics of serial matinee and various other sources of classical works (7 samurai immediately comes to mind).  this, is where true undeniable and ageless triumph begin, not in an executive board room but rather in the whimsical and inquisitive nature of a being wishing to escape the current reality to something far….greater.

star wars 4 absolutley owns anything every made or ever will be made.  george lucas cant write dialogue?  U, sir, surely jest.  “holding her is dangerous, word gets out it could generate sympathy for the rebellion in the senate.”

“I have traced the rebel spies to her. NOW she is my only link to finding the rebel’s hidden base.”

u do realize with these opening moments of dialogue that mr. lucas not only furthers the present timeline (that is actually a long time ago in a galaxy far far away….), but also begs our minds to imagine the prior incidences not shown on film in which darth vader as led onto the trail of one princess leia organa (sp?).  this very theme of events not shown yet which carry with it great intrigue carries throughout the entire original trilogy, but it begins here.  another fine example of this would include luke’s first conversations with obi wan.  here ben tells luke that his father was ‘the best star pilot in the galaxy….and a good friend” all the while alec guiness remains pensive and reminiscent of battles long since dissipated yet clearly still relevant in regards to the turmoil presently clouding the galaxy.  to know that luke’s father was militarily prodigious is not viscerally experienced by an audience for some 20 odd years later when during the opening scene of episode 3 Anakin plows head first into the driod army with r2d2 (!) at his side.  there is such a cyclical nature to these films (beginning with episode 4) that to dismiss star wars films as mere childrens fodder or simple adventurous whimsy would be to undermine humanity’s collective conscious and cost yourself hours of futile viewing.

while writing ive come to realize another interesting cycle within star wars.  in the beginning c3p0 treats r2 like a ******ed step-child (“don’t get fresh w/ me u overweight glob of grease” LMAO), yet in turn c3p0 get belittled by han.  who belittles han?  well at one point both jabba and lando make a fool of him.  what becomes of han?  he rises to a position of prominence within the rebellion.  somewhere, sometime, someone, must end the cycles of pointless and juvenile bickering and break into the mold of constructive leader.

star wars episode 4 is quotable in everything from musical queue’s to words to sound effects.  I am so confident in the ability of star wars 4’s audio capabilities that im sure a blind man could with ease proclaim it greatest of all time.  to be able to quote a movie is one thing, to quote  a movie with a such a varying brand of characters is altogether quite different.  see, contained within star wars  (ala sopranos the greatest tv show ever) are several contrasting but altogether harmonious genres.  you have your comedy (maja lulz goin on; everything from how c3p0 treats r2, to han solo’s unbridled quips and gazes), you have your drama (son begs his uncle to let him seek his destiny, uncle denies, uncle ends up dead), you have your romance (romance meaning outright heroic tales as well as boy meets girl and attempts to impress said girl, see Luke: “I care” LMAO), and finally adventure, tragedy (ben as beloved father figure mercilessly killed), philosophy (“there’s no all powerful force guiding my destiny”)and religion (“I felt a sudden tremor in the force, as if millions and voices suddenly cried out in agony and then were silenced” and even more so, “use the force luke.  LET GO LUKE” one of my favorite lines ever period).  the film also touches on racism (“we don’t serve their kind here”) and civil war (rebels against empire)

the scene in the death star trenches is the greatest battle scene I have ever witnessed.  private ryan, belly, heat, terminator, none provide the thrill of watching father chase son and ending in one of the greatest triumphant moments ever (hans unselfish and courageous return to the battlefield, in the all the glory that is the millennium falcon, with the benevolent sun blazing in the background).

for its time star wars also broke new ground.  from editing, to sound effects, to special effects star wars episode 4 will forever remain a pioneer.  moreover, star wars episode 4 is the accumulation of all of humanities tales from antiquity with ancient celestial battles, disfigured creatures in abundance, and where mystical figures and powers abound.  im sure there are plenty of crevices and nuances to the film I failed to cover but that doesn’t matter.  already ive touched on how you have to look between the lines of the film and you unearth so much fantastic and thought provoking material by just using ur imagination in addition to what the writer/director (lucas) has explicitly set before u.

another interesting caveat that makes episode 4 stand apart from the other episodes is luke skywalkers face.  the story goes inbetween the shooting of a new hope and empire strikes back mark hammil experiences a motorcycle accident which left his face slightly disfigured.  therefore a new hope luke is fresh, young, untainted by the heartless greed of imperial politics or military discord.  he is, without question, a new hope.  lightning in a bottle.

ultimately it boils down, for me, to the question, are u satisfied with the life u lead or do u wish for something greater, some experience which will broaden ur horizons and enrich ur spirit, all the while keeping the greater good of those around u in mind.  all of a sudden, a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, doesn’t seem all that remote now does it?

go in peace and may the force be with you.  always.

^ I don't agree with everything you said, but I like the spirit celtixhalfshell...Repped...

May the force be with you...

Say what you want about George Lucas, but he's gonna put most of that money he got from Disney towards a good cause.
George Lucas Will Use Disney $4 Billion to Fund Education
3:20 PM PDT 10/31/2012 by Alex Ben Block
Spokesperson for Lucasfilm tells THR the majority of the sale price will go toward educational philanthropy.
By the end of the year, the $4.05 billion sale of Lucasfilm to Disney should be finalized. And since George Lucas owns 100 percent of his company - which has little to no debt - all that money goes to him.

After that, Lucas plans to quickly put the bulk of the money into a foundation which will primarily focus on educational issues, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm tells THR.

“George Lucas has expressed his intention, in the event the deal closes, to donate the majority of the proceeds to his philanthropic endeavors.”

It's not yet clear which foundation will get the proceeds. Lucas is currently the chairman of Edutopia, which is part of the George Lucas Educational Foundation. He could put money into that or create a new foundation which would be funded from the sale.

The Foundation was the vehicle Lucas used to make a $175 million donation to his alma mater USC in 2006. He has also given to many other causes over the years including the Film Foundation, Stand Up To Cancer and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“For 41 years, the majority of my time and money has been put into the company,” Lucas said in a statement Wednesday. “As I start a new chapter in my life, it is gratifying that I have the opportunity to devote more time and resources to philanthropy.”

The spokesperson noted that this “announcement continues a commitment that Lucas made in 2010 to The Giving Pledge where he stated,  “I am dedicating the majority of my wealth to improving education.  It is the key to the survival of the human race.  We have to plan for our collective future—and the first step begins with social, emotional, and intellectual tools we provide to our children.  As humans, our greatest tool for survival is our ability to think and to adapt—as educators, storytellers, and communicators our responsibility is to continue to do so.’”

episode 3 of the prequels crapped all over the og 3 bro

Nice post Nike Jordan. I knew that was going to happen & was waiting for the story to post so I can apply in here. You beat me to the punch. Lucas' net worth prior to the sale is like $6-$7 billion. Knowing how philanthropic he is, I knew he was going to donate or create a large philanthropic en devour. That man donated $175 mil to the USC film & arts school & I think he didn't want his name on any of the buildings but Akira Kurosawa's.

better then a new hope, empire stricks back and return of the jedi?

i understand everyone is entitled to their opinion but your statement is ridiculous. i doubt you even saw the original trilogy before you saw the new one. and even if you did, you would not be saying that because the originals are classics. what they did for the movie industry will forever be cemented as greatness, whereas the new trilogy is barely talked about in a great manner.

I'm actually really looking forward to this. The original trilogy will forever be a classic. Now that Disney owns SW, they can continue to put out new stuff, that could potentially be better for our future generations. Besides, they have so much material they could go off of.

Report: 'Star Wars 7' won't be based on the books

By Leslie Gornstein, E! Online

If Disney is buying LucasFilm, how will that affect Star Wars: Episode 7 and other Star Wars projects? Any word on what the movie will be about?--Flannel, via Twitter

"Star Wars" fans are already wondering what the seventh film will bring, and it's not due out till 2015.

Well, we know that, whatever the plot of Episode 7, George Lucas won't have a heavy hand in the day-to-day creation of it. He's apparently written the treatments for the films, but he won't produce or direct--an excellent opportunity for another visionary to jettison Jar Jar Binks out of an airlock permanently.

As for the plot, Star Wars superfans have a theory on what they'll be seeing next. But I have a surprise for them: They're wrong. If you're a fan, you're definitely gonna want to read on.

Read more details about Star Wars episodes 8, 9 and beyond

First of all, you should know that there is an official canon concerning the Star Wars universe. Those stories cover the years after rebel victory (i.e., after Return of the Jedi). It's written in a series of books called the Thrawn Trilogy, by author Timothy Zahn. Die-hard Star Wars fans know the trilogy well, and they say that a big-screen adaptation of the first book, "Heir to the Empire," would make the most logical Episode 7.

"Of all the speculation out there about the content of this new trilogy, that's the single most concrete idea," says Eric Geller of the fan site TheForce.net. "It's almost inevitable that the story will take place in the same time frame as those books."

So what happens in "those books?"

Well, Luke Skywalker meets a real would-be assassin lady named Mara Jade, who was trained to avenge the Emperor by crushing Luke's pretty blond head. Instead, Jade falls for Luke and, a subsequent graphic novel, the two marry. Skywalker also has to deal with the fact that he's the only Jedi left, at least, for now, and he goes about trying to fix that.

Princess Leia and Han Solo also play heavily into the Thrawn Trilogy, popping out a pair of twins (of course) among other things. As for the name Thrawn, well, that refers to a grand admiral with imperial sympathies who takes over as the leader of the vanquished enemy faction.
So is that the basis for Episode 7 or not? I've heard directly from LucasFilm and other sources close to the picture, and they say: Definitely not.

"It's an original story," a LucasFilm source tells me.

In other words, forget the Star Wars novels. Forget the graphic novels. Forget everything you think you know about what happens to Luke Skywalker. According to my sources, Episode 7 will literally be nothing you've ever seen or read before from the Star Wars universe.

I also hear from several sources that, no matter what you may hear to the contrary, no director has been officially attached to the project.

Meanwhile, there isn't much news regarding the other big Star Wars projects currently in development.

A spoofy cartoon TV series, Detours, was announced in August, spearheaded by Seth Green and the other creators of Robot Chicken. No release dates or networks were revealed, but Disney has said that it envisions some sort of Star Wars presence on its Disney XD channel. I wouldn't be surprised if Detours landed there.

Disney is paying how much for LucasFilm!?

Lastly, there's the live action series, which has been bubbling around since 2008 and which is supposed to take place between Episodes 3 and 4, when Luke Skywalker is growing up.

As I reported earlier, Lucasfilm was still talking in enthusiastic terms about Star Wars: Underworld less than a year ago. At that time, the show had a lot of scripts in the can but no financing. But if there's one thing that Disney has, it's money. Still, insiders tell me it's too soon to expect any announcements on either series.
