How the hell do you just spot the falcon and X-Wing like that? These dudes really taking helicopter trips around filming locations or using Google Earth?

Apparently some aviation school student or something like that snapped the pic

Now DS3 might be the one thing that could bring me to not see this movie

Luke Skywalker’s Whereabouts In STAR WARS: EPISODE VII

The rumor mill has been working overtime in that galaxy far, far away, as everyone thinks they have some bit of information as to how certain events may go down in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. Of course it’s incredibly difficult to nail down what is true and what isn’t in this current climate, because there is a lot of unstable information surrounding this production for one reason or another. In shifting from the Michael Arndt draft to the script written by J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, some plot and characters made the move while others didn’t. As a result, that’s left some people with intel that was correct in the past but isn’t anymore, or with knowledge that is only partially true. Toss into the mix reports I’ve received that there are multiple copies of the script floating around even on-set in an attempt to muddy the waters as to spoilers getting put, and it’s quite the mess the trudge through in trying to locate reliable information.

But, in spite of all that, I believe I’ve managed to dig up something solid regarding Luke Skywalker’s whereabouts in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. Now I have managed to confirm this with multiple trusted independent sources who have all relayed to me the same knowledge, which is why I feel on enough solid ground to fill you in. However, I am also well aware of the gamesmanship that exists with Abrams’ mystery box, so it’s very possible they’ve been put in a position to know the wrong thing. That’s just the way it goes, so it’s time to proceed with confident caution.

If you want to try remaining fresh, I suggest you turn around and exit the way you came, as we’ll be getting into some fresh details, so this is your SPOILER WARNING…

It’s been pretty well established that Luke Skywalker has disappeared from the scene when STAR WARS: EPISODE VII opens. After all, if Han Solo has to go looking for him with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega’s characters, he’s definitely off the grid somewhere. Much fan speculation has been built around the idea that it’s a rescue mission and that, following Luke’s victory over the Emperor, he’s somehow been captured by the villains of the new film and is possibly being used to help power this super weapon that they have at their disposal.

However, my sources tell me that couldn’t be further from the truth, and that people have been thinking about this thing all wrong.

From what I’ve been told, Luke hasn’t been missing for a full 30 years, only about 10, with his early time post-RETURN OF THE JEDI being spent rebuilding the Jedi Order. Yeah, Luke had some things to do, in order to help get things back on track after the fall of the Empire. In addition, he has grown so powerful with his command of the Force that he can literally move mountains or bring down ships with merely a glance.

But then Luke begins to feel a disturbance in the Force… and starts to feel the lure of the Dark Side. If word about the Emperor’s resurgence is true, I believe his presence and desire to court young Skywalker once again is the root of this new evil. Because he knows just what a danger he would be if successfully convinced to switch sides, Luke goes into a self-imposed exile and disappears.

But where does he go?

Where might he possibly set up shop in order to deal with this struggle once again?

It’s an existing planet from the STAR WARS Saga he’s been before where one might go to contemplate the Force and potentially face down the Dark Side.

Figure it out yet…?

How about now?

That’s right.

DAGOBAH!!

Luke Skywalker relocates to Yoda’s old home planet, and that is where he will be found and reunited with his old lightsaber by friends both old and new.

He may have to do some renovations if a man of his size wants to live for that length of time in Yoda’s little hut, but, if he has such a strong grasp of the Force at this age, sounds like it shouldn’t be much of a problem. A couple of shifts of the eye, and he’ll be all set.

So there you have it. It’s a much different and less conventional track than most people seem to be on, but a far more interesting one as well. We’ll find out in December 2015 if it’s truly the real deal.

This I can live with.

Luke showing unseen force potential :smokin

Luke rebuilding the Jedi Order :smokin

Luke going into exile to protect the galaxy from himself? Could see that from his character.

:rolleyes going back to Old planets :rolleyes

Luke can move mountains :rolleyes sounds like something jj would cook up :smh: focusing on the big 3 rather than new characters.....ok

I'm cool with it . We've heard all this stuff in and out of universe about how powerful Anakin/Luke could be if they reached their full potential, let's see it finally. And from all accounts the movie is focusing on new characters... I mean, Luke isn't even in the first act of the movie apparently

And going back to Dagobah makes sense, it'd hide his presence from the Sith/whoever and it's a familiar place, where he learned how to use the force.

Anyways more pics of the Episode VII base where the Xwings and Falcon are docked, and one of the leads in the movie owns that black+orange Xwing

I can handle the power, and hide from dark side, etc. I'll buy that.

Show more planets. Stop with Dagobah, Tattooine, Naboo, etc. Billion stars, they keep visiting the same 3.

There is no way that Luke would have rebuilded the Jedi order with the way the OT ended.

Get out of here. You're trolling, don't waste our time. You don't have any interest in actually learning anything, so just go. Serious.

So Dagobah is Yoda's homeworld now? smh

Btw, new planets were introduced in each of the sequels:

Naboo and Coruscant in Ep.I (added Coruscant view from the "updated" original trilogy doesn't really count)

Geonosis and Kamino in Ep.II

Utapau, Kashyyk and Mustafar in Ep.3 (not counting Felucia, Saleucami, Mygeeto and Cato Neimoidia glimpses from the execution of Order 66)

I guess we'll see something new in Ep.VII as well. Just wondering if the new ice planet would be Alzoc III (Talz homeworld) or they'll introduce a completely new planet since the only ice planets in the SW univierse that i can think of are Hoth, Ilum and Alzoc III.

I want to see Kessel, and the Maw, and Ackbar's planet, and the Rancor planet, and Correlia, and the Mandos homeworld, and Hapan.......

You mean Dathomir perhaps. Home planet of the Night Sisters and according to the Clone Wars home of Maul and Savage (although Zabrak's home is Iridonia).

Yes, Dathomir. I knew it was the Nightsisters, but couldn't get the name off my head. Thank you.

And Noble, they ride them around like horses basically. Sounded pretty cool, but again, that's from the books that may no longer be viable, so we may never see this.

Question, say I've seen all the movies and watched a fair share of clone wars, but what should I start reading if I wanna dive deeper into the main story line?

Luke stories, anakin stories right after he becomes Vader, great sith or jedi stories?

Specific books or anything that are good with these topics?

(Sorry if this is derailing the thread)

Depends on your taste and what you want to accomplish. But all of the info is here in this thread for sure.

If you want the books that started it all, start with the Timothy Zahn trilogy, Heir to the Empire. That came out in 1991.

If you want to read the books in timeline order, you can start pretty much anywhere. Old Republic era, about 1,000 years before The first movie, or you could start right around the Anakin/Obi Wan era, Cloak of Deception.

The first book about Vader is called Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader. You could start there, then read all the books thereafter.

Like I said, all depends on your taste, and what/who you want to read about.

Myself? I started with the Zahn books, Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command. They are set about 5 years after Return of the Jedi, and were the first books to really continue the story of Luke, Han, and Leia.

Appreciate it CP

I was in the same boat as you, and was excited about starting to read all the books until I realized none of it is canon anymore.

So I decided not to start with what was released in the past and just start with everything they release going forward which is all Canon. I bought "A New Dawn" which is by John Jackson Miller and a set up for the Rebel series.

They have a few titles coming out soon

-Lords of the Sith
-Heir to the Jedi
-Tarkin
