It probably goes without saying but the way they're setting up the OT characters as myths that the new characters find out to be true is perfect. The nostalgia/mystery/sense of time passing is overwhelming

That's exactly what I was going to say.

It makes me really confident and excited because that's how it should be. Between Kylo's apparent obsession with Vader, finding Luke's lightsaber, and then Han.. after all of his experiences and years passed.. saying it's all real. Just that short little glimpse of Solo being changed after everything they went through.. just awesome.

It feels like they're going to treat that line perfectly with keeping the OT characters and ideas, but telling a new story and creating new characters to watch and enjoy. And that's the vibe I've gotten from Abrams, the cast, etc., since it's started.. everyone  wants to do this right.

even for guys like CP who hate the prequels and love the non-cannon books

im sure there would still be books that come out without the prequels existing

but the prequels basically doubled the source material which the books are based off of

for casual fans that didnt like the prequels, they still did their job in keeping star wars relevant 

the difference between "FINALLY GOOD STARWARS MOVIES AGAIN" and "oh i remember star wars, thats cool that they are making another movie after 30 years"

I've said it here before and I'll say it again. Hayden's return to SW will be treated like the second coming of Jesus....as far as movies go

And with as much care as Disney is taking with everything, I'm positive he'll finally live up to the hype. Until then, at least he'll still have the GOAT lightsaber duel in the saga
