this is what's so great about star wars

you will have one character that has one line and lasts 30 seconds and fans can turn him into a legend

Is that not the definition of overrating in this context?

I'd be on record that any character the fans do that to is really just a ******* lame character.
it is, but its also why we have so much lore and starwars backstory

its a credit to the movies that people care enough to do this stuff for minor characters

if the same situation played out in a lord of the rings movie no one would care about the character at all

Quick question for you guys. I've decided to make my own Kylo Ren Cosplay and I had a quick question about his helmet. Does he have a dark visor, or is it just black mesh?
his helmet is shaped pretty much like vader's helmet on top and around the back and sides

he has a thick black mesh "hoodie" that he wears over it

Well LOTR already has just as much backstory and lore as Star Wars, so with pretty much any character you can bet he's already got quite a lot going for him and that there's little more fans could add as it is.

but in the storm trooper example it would just be like a random orc

I do think your point adds to why I find starwars more interesting than adaptations though

its fun and more exciting to see darth maul or kylo ren or finn in a trailer and have no idea where his character or story will go

every new character is fresh, essays have been written about reys parents because no one knows for sure who she is yet

I avoid star wars spoilers because they are actually spoilers

where as lotr and comic book movies are just characters and storylines we already know, and getting excited about seeing them in live action

civil war and batman vs superman are HUGE movies but im way more excited for rogue one because I get to discover new things and find out more about the universe

in both comic book movies even the new characters already have decades of backstory and I know exactly who they are, what they can do and if they will end up being good or bad

I try not to over analyze them and just enjoy them for what they are entertainment.

Thats honestly the best way to watch sports, movies, tv shows, etc.

Sometimes I feel like I get too deep into entertainment.

Real life hunger games breh.

I get waaaaaaaay too into sports. It's stupid and I question my entire life after losses lol

its so hilarious and disrespectful when people compare horribly deformed characters to ugly actors

Haha, it makes sense that he's deformed since he's aboard the Death Star II

Regardless of whether Snoke is a formerly introduced character or not, I cant wait to see more of him.

No.

You don't get lore and back story from characters saying one line and being on screen for half a minute.

What happens is fans overrate ****, the ppl in merchandising profit off of that. The publishing get told to make some **** up so you can sell books and they do it. Now I haven't read the books and don't plan to but I'd assume in this case whoever was in charge got some good authors who probably never got the same mainstream appeal with their original ideas to write the stuff and the books came out good enough for fans to accept (not that if the books sucked they wouldn't have sold initially).

I find the Lord of the Rings boring so I wouldn't know but if they're caking off books or w/e it's not a surprise. That middle Earth **** has an audience. I highly doubt across the board they're having characters show up for a short time, say anything and then fans just gravitate to that character and the creators supply the demand with back story. You have to make good characters to properly create lore.

But hey I'm on record for not finding any of those characters you're referring to in OT interesting at all to really look up their back story in the first place. For me, George told a simple story about a father and son with a straightforward approach on the concept of good vs. evil. I was interested in the Jedi (and Sith), liked the amount of weird alien races he could come up with, and how the force worked. The smugglers, outlaws, bounty hunters, and specifically guys like Jabba the Hutt did nothing for me. I'd already seen stuff like that done better.

i dont read any of the books or comics and the only toys I buy are legos for my collection

My point is that there are so many fans that are into this stuff (creating fan fiction/lore/backstory) and it's a major part of star wars culture

its unlike any other movie or pop culture franchise

Jurassic World hit 652 million domestic in five and a half months.

TFA hit 652 million domestic in 17 days.

It is going to close the weekend somewhere around 740-745 million. Meaning it should pass Avatar for the #1 all time spot Monday-Tuesday at the latest. In 19-20 days, total.

Holy. F***. :wow:

Still hasn't opened in China yet too and I think that is the second biggest market - going to blow Avatar away in a few days.

Random thought while watching Creed, I know it's impossible but I would have liked to see Michael B Jordan play Finn. I feel he would have given that role a little more swagger and toughness, something I didn't get from Boyega (I know I wasn't supposed to). Also Boyegas haircut annoyed me the whole movie, dude should have got lined up like in his interviews
