Official Oklahoma City Thunder OFFSEASON 2013-2014 Thread **NEW TEAM,

would have loved if we traded PJ3, orton and whatever else to the kings for thomas robinson

Hey_

I'm not going to go so far as to say he "isn't good".

He just ain't put it together yet.

Some times it takes certain people longer.

P needs to watch film of Earl Clark.

Would you have said that before last month?

Earl Clark is better than him, I mean obviously, but at their best. To me, he's more of a Rashard Lewis extremely without the jump shot right now, which I guess is Tyrus Thomas, maybe Travis Oulaw when he first cmae in. He's VERY athletic, but he doesn't even play in a way where it uses it. He needs to develop at the least right now just the ability to be a perimeter defender who can switch on pick and rolls and learn how to translate his athleticism into some rebounds, blocks, and cuts for dunks and alleyoops. Over time, put on ~15lbs and that jumper needs TONS of work. I wouldn't have been heartbroken at all if we flipped him for a useful veteran at the deadline. Lamb, however, we have to keep just as "KMart wants too much money" insurance.

Nah, I probably wouldn't have haha.

See, while watching Ibaka struggle guarding stretch 4s and such, I immediately thought Perry would fare much better given his athleticism and speed. When the Thunder play Miami, Serge consistently leaves Battier open. Also, playing Serge while Battier is on the floor negates his defensive prowess and allows Miami to drive at their heart's content.

If P were to come along, he could possibly be the guy to defend those stretch 4s.

Also, is there some sort of mystery change that happens between pre-season and the regular season? P was shootin'/playin' alright then.

Well, Maynor is a "true" point guard more than Reggie. The preseason game I went to, PJ3 had 17 which was like 7 dunks, a floater off a cut, and an ft. It was just Maynor finding him all game, mostly alleyoops, backcuts out of the corner, putbacks, athletic plays. None of it was anything that was called directly for him. Orton played really well in that game too.

Hey_

Why the **** aren't the Thunder playing Ronnie Brewer when the bench comes in?

Julius F. Wrek

Because, we just signed a 38 yr old point guard who hasn't played NBA basketball in 2 months and before that since last yr where he even sucked then so it just makes sense to put him in against the fastest team in the NBA, in altitude, right? And oh yea, Kevin Martin is still trash

I feel like they're just experimenting with line ups. They're for sure in the playoffs and I don't think they care about anything else. Fisher is deff a waste of money but with him only being on board for the season, meh. The bench is deff trash any way you slice it. They should of pulled of all the stops to keep harden :smh:

Hey_

As much as people like to blame ownership on the harden issue, you gotta remember he gave a whole lotta lip service about "sacrifice", and we know how that turned out.

In regards to this game today,

if Brooks plays Derek Fisher a single second in this game...:smh::x

At least he didn't play Fisher tonight, don't know why Brewer didn't get a look though

Hey_

Thank jeebus he didn't.

Team gotta learn how to keep their foot on their opponents' necks though.

First half D looked good tonight.

^ my cable was out and i had to go into office for a bit yesterday, so didnt get to watch the game..

but i kept the game tracker open on my laptop.. and i'm just glad as hell that we didnt lose that one.. i saw we were up 20 or 22 at one point.. then i check it again and saw we were only up 4 or 5.. and then when i checked it again we were down 1.. anyways, just glad we came through in the end

i saw the highlights of one of lamb's recent NBDL games.. he had another good one.. so who are you guys keeping an eye out for, for the toronto pick?

gotta say, this pick has me caring about alot of teams/games i wouldnt usually give a crap about.. with toronto being 7.5 back of the bucks.. i'm rooting for all for all of the following teams: sixers, pistons, cavs, wizards, mavs, twolves, suns, hornets and kings

asking a little too much for the bobcats and magic to surpass the raps

Ibaka gave up a 7pt play by chopping Blake in the nuts Z(Barnes made a 3, flagrant 1on Ibaka, Blake split the fts, then they scored a 3 after an offensive rebound the ensuing possesion).

I think Brooks still needs to be more flexible with his lineups. Brewer has played 12 minutes since being here. Every time Darnell or Royce asks him, he says some nonsense about learning the system, as if Brewer isn't a veteran for 1 and secondly like we even have much of a system. Go stand in the corner and wait in case KD or Russ kick it out to you off their isos or 2 man action. That's the system

Got the Lakers on Tuesday in our building. Should be an easy win, I don't want to give them any confidence in the event of a possible 1st rd matchup I am not going. Been back and forth up to OKC too many times recently. The drive up is always easy, drive back seems like it takes days (it's an hr).

As for the Toronto pick, I don't care, I don't even want it especially if Toronto doesn't sneak into the playoffs or get lucky and get a top 3 ping pong ball. Nobody in this draft excites me, plus we already got rooks/sophs getting splinters on the end of the bench and sent back and forth to Tulsa all yr. We should have traded it for a vet who could step right in. We're in win now mode, hard to develop rookies in such an instance.

More than anything this offseason, we better not overpay Martin. I'd be fine with letting him walk, other than the fact that that means you traded Harden for just Lamb and the Toronto pick, but we lost that trade regardless. His road/home splits and his games against playoff teams are alarming. He is VERY easy to shut down IMO. Let somebody els (Dallas or Utah) e give him 9 or 10 mil a yr

gotta love brooks.. fisher comes in last year and he's getting a ton of mins right away..

and on top of that, he does what it took him until the final game against dallas the privious year to do.. playing westbrook at SG, with a PG.. he even seems reluctant to do it this year with westbrook and jackson (as you have mentioned)

i mean i just dont get it.. with the versatility of most of our guys and the amount of teams who have no real low post guys.. we should be trying out numerous lineups, trying figure out ways to take advantage of numerous guys strenths

we cant lose this damn game.. i wont say it should be an easy game, since LA is in must win mode.. but brooks better realize that our best bet is to run LA out of the gym

we really need someone who can be a consistent scoring threat off of the bench.. and i'm not sure if lamb is that kind of player.. i could see him working really well with westbrook and durant (help with spacing issues)

but he does look like he can be, when i  watch some of his highlights.. but i guess we have to see if he's capable of creating his own shot at the NBA level

yup.. i mean we kinda knew that the real trade for harden was lamb and that pick.. but i'm kinda surprised we didnt move martin at the dealine, but i'm not sure what we would/could have gotten in return

really, from that toronto pick i'm hoping we can get 1 of 2 things:

1) a center who can replace perkins (maybe noel drops.. or we get alex len)

2) someone who can create their own shot off the bench.. we have enough defensive and/or hustle guys

and out of those guys we keep sending down, i only really care about lamb.. i hope PJ3 can spark up some sort of trade value

I just don't think, or in fact I'd say I know, no college center can step right in and give us what Perkins does. As much as I begrudge him when he doesn't play well and think we're overpaying him, he does have an unintangible value of leadership, toughness, and moxy we kind of lack plus everyone looks up to him. And he has gotten like amazing at the whole switching pick and rolls onto perimeter guards thing. And of course he is still one of the best big man defenders in the league. Like take Pek, dude MURDERED Perkins last matchup right, had a double double at half time. Next time Minnesota rolled around, held him to the worst game of his career. Again, granted that's Pek, but I give props where they're due, he has been turnt up since January on defense.

Ideally, Ibaka would get better at guarding 5s so he can be moved there almost full time, and we can run the KD at 4 with 1 big lineup more often, which again is our most efficient one on offense AND defense (which is surprising because it usually features Martin). We only run that lineup ~16% of the time.

Speaking of Perk, chic asked me on a date to this, she paid too :D. Gotta buy a black suit

^ lol.. april 7th is my birthday..

i'm with ya on perk though.. i mean he has his value.. but, my biggest problems with him, are more so with brooks than with him

but that is the easiet position i could see us upgrading, depending on how things fall.. and considering we have westbrook, KD, ibaka and hopefully lamb develops (well hopefully, the lamb/thabo/liggins combo can give us whatever we need from the SG spot depending on the game)

but on your point about ibaka guarding 5s, that might open the possiblity of us going after bennett with the pick

but i could see couple guys out of this draft being helpful for us
