PS3|PSP THD: Dirty is shutting us down, help us get to 25k before tomorrow!

The servers for Warhawk are dedicated and totally lag-free from my 2 hours playing the game. Graphics look pretty slick. Gameplay is pretty intense.

My PS3 ID is Furbylicious if anyone is up for adding me to their friendslist.

PSN Updates should be huge tomorrow!

- Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online
- Skate Demo
- Rachet and Clank Furture: Tools of Destruction
- Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo HD Remix
- High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition.

Tekken 5 is schedule to drop tommorow, but the rest is TBA. Sony has all the demos in there hands, they just need to release them!

One of the most innovative inventions of the last generation was the EyeToy, and that is prepared to mature into the PlayStation Eye. This neat-o little device should redefine how we approach certain games, and one title - The Eye of Judgment - is designed solely around this accessory.

We knew all this before, but Amazon.com has turned us onto the pricing and release date details: according to this recent listing, the PlayStation Eye will come bundled with The Eye of Judgment, and will release on October 23. It will retail for $59.99, which sounds very similar to the recent Warhawk launch; you get a full game plus a cool accessory for the price for the standard price of any given PS3 or Xbox 360 title.

Furthermore, other upcoming games that will utilize the PlayStation Eye as the primary input device are Aqua Vita, SingStar, Operation Creature Feature, Trials of Topoq, and the much debated Eyedentify (is it really coming or not?). And supposedly, the Eye will also be a secondary input device for Burnout Paradise (scheduled for early 2008 ); it will take a snapshot of your signature takedown a couple seconds after it happens. Sweet idea, huh?

But anyway, if you like the idea of the PlayStation Eye, you can pick up your interesting purchase on October 23.

My Take: The PS Eye looks dope, crazy nice add on. If you haven't check out the games coming for it, check out these videos:

Courtesy of Gamespot.comPlayStation 3 To Provide True 3D Gaming?
ps3photo_03.jpg
Quote:
How much further can gaming really go? Well, according to the latest tech-related rumor, quite a long way. We're talking about 3D, and not the 3D pioneered by the likes of Mario 64; no, we're talking about actual virtual 3D. Could the PS3 provide such an unbelievably simulated experience?

This rumor started due to a GameSpot report that talked about a 3D video demonstration held by Mitsubishi, where a comment was made regarding Blu-Ray players feasibly taking advantage of the tech on display. No mention of the PS3 popped up, but as Sony's game system is also a BD player, it is only logical to assume this new tech could apply to the PS3. This turned into speculation that Sony might eventually prepare a 3D-enabled PS3 console in 2008, and while certainly not confirmed, we still think it's a seriously cool idea.

If Sony could manage a true 3D experience on their gaming system, it would definitely give them a leg up on the competition. They already have the most advanced and capable (on paper) console on the market, but this could turn into one hell of a marketing campaign, couldn't it? "The closest we can get to virtual reality, only on the PlayStation 3?" Stuff like that? Well, anyway, Sony has yet to comment on any of this, but it's still fun to think about.

My Take: :wow:

What do you mean by this?

The 60GB PS3 uses the Emotion Engine and Graphic Synthesizer from the PS2 to allow us to play our old PS1 and PS2 games on PS3. With the 80GB PS3 they don't use the Emotion Engine and Graphic Synthesizer, they use software emulation but it's not 100% compatible, its something like 70% at this moment (until SCEA updates it).
Quote:
So wait...the 60gb version is out of production?

From SCEA:
Quote:
We no longer have any inventory in SCEA warehouses. All inventory has been purchased and shipped to retailers.

We don't have visibility as to if that is on their store shelves or in their warehouses at this time. However, based on inventory reports from our retailers, there is ample supply still left in the channel.

SonyStyle.com has also started to shift inventory from its retail stores to meet online demand.

So let me get this straight...after the 60GB are gone, I am pretty much hooped for finding a PS3 that is fully backwards compatible?
Latest Pickup: Air Jordan XI Retro Low (white/zest-argon blue-light bn), Nike AF1 07 Premium "NYC Edition" (pro gold/white/stealth-anthracite), Air Jordan B'Loyal (black/met silver-var red), Air Jordan Hydro 3 (black/silver)

Honestly who uses backwards compatibility, i haven't touched any of my old ps2 games ever since i got my ps3 just because the crappy graphics on it. I can see how some will use it but it's not that big a deal to me. Haven't played any of my xbox games on my 360 either.

Unfortunately, yes. Don't worry though, Sony will update the emulation over time.

The reason of this is because it is cost effective and cheaper to manufacturer the 80GB SKU's with software emulation. The bulk of the price on the 60GB SKU's is due to the Emotion Engine and Graphic Synthesizer chips. Over time it will become even cheaper to produce the PS3 as Sony will go from 90mm chips to 65mm chips come 2008 a la Xbox 360.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Info
gt-5-prologue-screen-490.jpg
Quote:
This is apparently a fully featured game though according to PD. Game runs at 1080p HD at 60fps. It has fully featured 16 man online racing, single player racing with 16 multiplayer and drift mode, Home integration, MyPage Profile, Photo Album, Online Replay Videos, Online / Offline Ranking, GT TV and MORE! 50 cars, 5 tracks with reverse, and a story mode of sorts, tunning, event calender, (i.e. buy cars, win races, win cars and money, etc...). The only things that I can think of that are not coming are license tests. Car customizations, and rally races will be offered as DLC shortly after the game release this fall. The full feature GT 5 game will release summer of 08.

Also a single car in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is composed of 200,000 polygons. For reference, a single car in Gran Turismo 4 only had about 4000 polygons. Also for another reference, one single car in Forza 2 averages around 150,000 polys, but they don't model interiors. Project Gotham Racing is right around 96k and they model the interiors as well, so you can see the gap that GT5 puts on GT4 and the competition.

Marvel vs capcom works on the ps3 just fine. When I put it in, the ps3 read it as a blue bottom ps2 game and it loaded up with no problem.

I didn't know all that is supposed to be in the store today. All that with the Warhawk I haven't bought yet is gonna dent the wallet this week...and that's a good thing!!

P.S. Can someone either post up or send me that Prologue pic of the Skyline? That was going to be my new wallpaper before the thread disappeared. Oh and the R8 too. Thanks in advance.

What's the deal with uploading your pic into the game a la Tiger Woods? Is this feature going to be available in other sports games?
