who's run a marathon before?

damn this post got me wanting to try a marathon this year.

im a fat dude who doesnt particularly care for running. leading up to my wedding a few years back i took on running to give me a goal to help lose some lbs. i did a couple of 10k's and two half marathons, but i thought that was it. with both my halfs i felt like i hit a wall right around mile 10-11. the thought of doing 26.2 is just daunting. the biggest motivation i have is that my kid sister was able to finish it, and i know for a fact that im in better shape than her.

Never done one but have always wanted to. I've been getting myself back into shape so definitely planning on doing at least a half next year.

Gotta bring this up again.

I've run my share of 5K and 10K events. Most did was Bay to Breakers in the SF, did that a few times. 12K i believe?

now the time has come to run my first HALF MARATHON

i registered for the NIKE WOMEN's HALF MARATHON lol.. i picked this well because its Nike and I get that Tiffany necklace for the wife.

I'm not a fast runner, i only care about pacing and finishing without stopping. I feel if i have to stop i failed. I usually run 9-10min/mile pace and could maintain it for 6 miles on a good day.

I think i will set my pace for 11-12 min mile/pace.

hope a few can share any tips.

for those interested, and hopefully so im not the only GUY in the corral of women giving me the evil eye on why i decided to enter "THEIR" marathon (Despite nike saying its for both male and females)

you can register

It's random draw because i guess its so packed. BUT if you are a COLLEGE STUDENT, not only is it discounted $150, but its not random draw, you will be automatically in.

I did my 1st half 2 years ago, ran the first 12 miles straight then just cramped up and walked the last mile.

Did one with Student Run LA when I was 12. Glad I got it out the way early cause I hate running. And my body been feeling old lately lol

Lmao that not so humble brag.
