What are some Must Have MAC Programs?

hey, i didn't want to create another apple thread so i thought i'd ask in here
i've been using Mac's for a while now, but i've never figured out how to save and view gif files on my notebook. it wasn't only 'till lastyear when i tried saving a gif file on my macbook, tried opening it and the animation wouldn't work. it just looked like a regular jpeg.

anyone have any answers?

Yo since most of the mac heads are in this thread for some reason my sound wont work unless I have my headphones plugged in. Also when headphones are notpluggd inthere is a red light coming from the headphone jack hole. Any help

unarchiver for any zipped files
vlc for video files
peerguardian for protection if you decide to be a pirate
litelcon if u decide u want to change the icons of your programs
macs need a better torrent program--hopefully utorrent will be released soon.

yeah transmission is a good lightweight program. i hear so much good about utorrent though so i'll try it out when it comes out for os x

i prefer safari more than firefox but i guess it depends on each person. Ive had my G5 tower for three years now and it still runs the same as the day I gotit.
