Post your Barber Clippers/Liners: Barber Tools Discussion/Questions

You don't NEED an expensive clipper, but there is also no point in spending $30 on a decent one if you can get the professional ones for $40. I'm not saying you have to buy Andis Masters for $100, but there are some professional clippers that can be had at very reasonably prices. If you really want the best fades, you need the professional ones.

So these are the way to go?

Amazon product ASIN B000ZMAL2U

Yup, those are the best value on the market. Same motor and blade as the Wahl 5-Star Senior I think.

The Atlanta barber supply has Very good prices and super fast shipping. I ordered my andis masters from them they got the best price I could find
they are expenisve compared to other sites and ebayfrom what i saw

Those are balding clippers or for people who like a really close cut like how T.I. rock his hair. Same motor yes but the blades are different and the way it feels in your hand.

i just got rid of mines and got the andis envy and wahl heros for liners now and I love them. If you like close fades then get the Andis Fade Envys. Both only run like $35 each

I know my stuff. I have been cutting my hair for 20 years now. only been to the barber probably 5 times in those 20 years

sup nt fam,

im looking for some clippers/trimmers for my beard/mustache...but I need a solid amount of guard options. Right now, I have some cheappos and only have one guard that trims is low enough. any recommendations for clippers that are durable with a lot of good guard options? price doesnt matter, im willing to invest.

also need a good solid trimmer. i dont have a ton of facial hair all over, so i want to have precise trimming capability...open to that being the same clipper/trimmer...or open to having one separate for just the trimming.

anybody got any ideas?

What is the market for some used Oster Fast Feeds? Had it for a year, but got only like 5 cuts out of them.

How much would they fetch if i tossed em on Ebay or something?

did you read others posted and especially what i just posted above. your question is answered

For the guard I have one #2 stainless steel guard. it cost me $20 at the beauty store

pretty large thread, but understand not wanting to be redundant.

but how does you having one #2 stainless steel guard speak to what i asked about? maybe im just not plugged into the workings of real clippers, but im looking for the ability to trim my facial hair very precisely. as in various guard options/lengths. right now i only have one.

He did sound kinda mean with the response lol

Sorry my dude. Here is my advice below. I have been cutting my own hair for 20 years.

Fellas these clippers below is all you need. All those other clippers Wahl seniors and Oster feeds you do not need at all. Waste of money. They are for professional use and will not even fit in your hand right when cutting your own hair and they must be tuned up daily

The clippers I posted below are newest released and are in competetion with the seniors. The Wahl Here in competetion wth Andis T Hotliners opps, I mean T liners. Andis T outliners get so hot it burns your hand, that is why you see some people with tape around it.

Now for anyone that need Beard/Mustache trimmers and hair lining, use these below .They come with guards. These are Wahl latest liners. They use a different motor and you will like them trust me.

My review of these trimmers/liners . The motor is quiet, they fit in your hand well and do not get hot like the Andis T liner. Also they will give you a clean cut and come with zero gap tool

Now for hair cutting get the Andis Envy or Andis Fade Envy. The have the same motor as Wahl seniors, well both comparable. These clippers were released to compete with Wahl seniors.
I have had the seniors before and the Andis Envy is better.

The regular Andis Envy is good for all types of hair and comparable to Wahl seniors but much less and better motor
Andis Envy-> Andis Envy./Strong Motor

The Andis FADE envy is for real close cuts and fades. For balding fades like how T.I. the rapper have his hair then get these below.

Both of these clippers are smooth as butter and cheap and last long.

good look fam....im gonna look at the lengths of my current guards and compare to the ones from that Hero T you posted.

I appreciate you trying to help people in this thread, but that is completely incorrect. The Wahl 5 Star Magic Clip is an all around fading clipper that is compatible with Wahl clipper guards. The Magic Clip is $40 and the Andis Envy is $35, but the Magic Clip is way better. Don't waste money on an Andis clipper unless it's the Andis Master. I cut my own hair with the Wahl 5-Star Senior and it fits in my hand just fine. I don't know what you're talking about, homie.

My Styliner IIs stopped working though, so I recommend the T-Outliner lol. I can't for the life of me get it to run again. I think something is wrong with the motor and not the blade.

Open it up and clean the hair off of the motor and wiring. One of my pairs of trimmers does the same thing after a few months.

Thanks! I will give this a shot.

Tips on taper?

if its your first time tapering, i would work my way down ward instead of up. for example, make the bald line/shortest length you want it near your side burns. after take the longest guard where it is barely cutting your hair and fade the temple area, say a 2 guard. then use a 1 or a 1 1/2 right below it followed by a zero guard followed by an open blade then mid blade then one. this is useful so you don't keep pushing your taper higher and higher. check youtube for cakenisrandy or vickthebarber to see how they do it.

Dude you just agreed with what i said and you have no clue. I have been cutting my own hair and others for 20 years straight,

And you agreed with what i said. A FADE usually take some balding of the skin. The magic star is for tight fade fades and or balding . Basically the blades on the 5 star cut real close

The Andis Envy is not no junk at all trust me. Did you see the reviews. have you ever used them? i have them now and they are one the best all around clippers I ever used.

Nobody cutting their own hair need the andis masters. those are proffesional barber clippers

And the 5 star do not fit in my hand right COMPARED to the Andis Envy. They 5 star are huge. Now if you were cutting somebody else hair they will fit right but when cutting your own hair it is kind of hard compared to the Andis Envy

For the price, quality and cutting the Andis Envys rock!

Tips on taper?
i taper my hair with the Andis Envy. I usually rock 360 waves with taper on sides and back

Andis Envy./Strong Motor

Put blade level at lowest and cut up to a certain point depending how high you want your taper then turn clippers around and start higher then your taper line and then cut down with some pressure like if you were brushing real fast around the taper line and it will blend in.

I dont use NO guards when doing my taper

I couldnt taper my hair with the Wahl 5 star's but with the Envy's my taper blend just right now

Just bought a Andis Headliner from Walmart for $20, gonna start cutting my own hair this semester. I figured if I get good at it, I'll upgrade to a T-outliner in a couple months

I didn't agree with you. I was proving that it is logical to bump up from the Envy to the Magic Clip for $5. The fade blade gives you the capability to cut as close as possible, but that doesn't mean that they are only meant for TI fades as you tried to say. You can throw any guard on them from 1/16-8/8 and they fade well. I'm sure the Envy is decent, but don't try and tell people they shouldn't get professional clippers when they can buy them for only $40. You sound like you work for product marketing for the Andis Envy.

I know nothing about cutting hair, but would I be able to use these to take my hair low? I don't care about a line up or anything... Thanks in advance

Yes, how close are you trying to get? If you open the blade all the way, it is technically a 1 (1/8th of an inch). When you close the blade all the way it's a 0. There's no such thing as an actual 0 because completely zero-gapping the blade would make them dangerous and possibly draw blood. Clippers usually cut 0 at the lowest, and trimmers/outliners are gapped to 000.
