RIP Sean Taylor #21

Damn shame good people die because of scum on this earth.
Watching that Sportcenter bit had me thinking though. Sean Taylor would have had a very rough time playing in the league today with the way it has changed.

How do you figure? Players adapt.

Fair to say that his death impacted the area to the same affect as Len Bias? Granted Bias was a hometown dude, but I've NEVER seen the Skins fanbase attach to a player like they did with Sean Taylor.
Eh, I get what your saying but personally I don't think so.  Main reason being is like you said Len Bias was a hometown guy, even if you weren't in to basketball any and everyone knew about Bias and then his death, and then EVERYTHING that changed after his death, drug laws that is.  Sean Taylor was deeply loved and still is in the city, and I'm not trying to take anything away from that.  Taylor's life just like Bias's was cut short, and the circumstances surrounding their death make the issue that much harder to deal with collectively.

I was watching Sportscenter last night and I didn't see the full clip but I believe one of the anchors said that the killers for Sean Taylor still haven't been brought to trial, or something along those lines.  Can anyone shed light on the matter, I thought those boys went to jail already??

They're in jail, but the trial hasn't started yet. Sounds like it will start early 2013.

Steelers fan here and I know that our safety Ryan Clark wears Taylor's 21 during practices.

RIP

Thanks for the reply.  5 years in jail and they haven't been brought to trial yet.  They must have the worse attorney available.  Let them rot in jail as far as I'm concerned, but that's a long delay as far as legal matters are concerned.

To me, it's a toss-up, but I think my POV is strictly due to the fact that I think there is a generational gap when comparing the two. I was much too young to remember Len Bias' passing. I do know the impact from speaking with a bunch of older heads. I mean, he's actually from the DMV and was looked at as being not just a good basketball player, but a transcendent one.

Sean Taylor was different b/c he was from Florida. However, there was an attachment to him from the Skins fanbase because we actually got to see him "grow up" right before our eyes. His football ability was second to none and the season he was murdered, you could easily make a case for him being the best FS in the league. He was an absolute game-changer. Blessed with the size and speed to make a true difference. Skins have NEVER had a player of his caliber on the roster.

Let me go back to Skins fans watching him "grow up." He had some missteps early on in his career. However, he was young. With his age, eventually came maturation. We saw that. EVERYTHING was coming together for him on a personal and professional level in 2007. He was in many ways no different from a lot of us who had some hiccups along the way in life, but eventually figured out their niche.

Unfairly, his life was cut short by the very kid he was helping. How ****** up is that? To this day I get beyond pissed just thinking about how all of his potential wasn't reached due to the selfish nature of that fool who shot him. 11/27 will always be a tough day for anyone who cared about him - whether you knew him personally or not.

Just glad that those that were responsible for Taylor's death were finally brought to justice this year.  R.I.P. Sean Taylor.

dang its been 6 years already. RIP Taylor young life taken too quick.
