Official Air Max 97 Thread

2010 seems like a different world looking back. Just before the sneaker craze took off and every ******* and fuccgirl who'd been rocking worn out chuck taylors and wearing sweat bands started turning up in white cement 3s and infrared 90s
 
You can still find retros of the last drop on evilBay for cheaper than this QS.
IMO I like the OG pair.
I don't see the rahrah about this pair.

How much are we looking at resell prices for these, I'm taking it retail will be quite high already?
 
very disappointed with this release.  why does nike have to ruin sneakers by putting national flags and colors on them.

Nike did that because italy is always showing mad love to the AM97, this concept with the italian flag colors on the AM97s is nothing new, they have done it before in 2012 as a EU Foot Locker exclusive, but the release went under the radar because back then everyone was focussing on the AM1 and AM90s

@AIRMAXDISCIPLE  yeah i remember  the italian blues.  im just saying.  little asian kids showing mad love by making them for 3 cents an hour, but we dont see air max 97 qs "sweat shops."

what would you expect, that they would've put a american flag on the tongue just like the AM1s and the BWs ?? Nike just pays tribute to the country where they are selling the most 97s thats it, they wouldnt sell well in the US anyway, 5 years ago they already cost $165-$170 and now if they gonna release them it will be probably close to the $180 i think, thats $10 cheaper than the Air Jordans

in my opinion, those am1s and bws are garbage because they put an american flag on it.  i dont think any country should be on any sneaker.  just release it as a sneaker.  simple.

Yes I agree its a wonderful detail.  But it could've been that much better if it was something neutral, 3m, maybe the 1997 date embossed, whatever.  Detail is one thing, division is another.  This is all my perspective.  Many obviously don't care, Even if they aren't native to italy or have Italian roots.  I just don't care for nationalism.  And it ruined this release for me.  its whatever really, im just being dramatic. those who want these will most certainly be happy with them. just another i dont need to worry about getting.

you forget that the US is not the target market for this model, Nike dont care what the US consumers want or think they only care about money thats why they are only releasing them in the EU/italy with the colors from the italian flag, just look at the Air Max Plus TN and the AM94 you wont see Nike bring those out in the US because they know that almost nobody will gonna buy them and they eventually will end up at the outlets, people will buy them up then you'll see them for sale on ebay and then they will end up back in europe because the majority of the buyers are from the EU

Yeah I get its about marketing. I don't care that they don't care about the us. I don't care about the us. I don't care about any country when it comes to sneakers or anything. If its about money, then they should ditch the country colors and flags and reach a universal audience.
 
So if we are expecting a retro for the 20th anniversary next year, do you guys think they will drop on air max day? :nerd:

dont know if they will drop on AM day, but our wallets will get remasterd by nike when AM day is coming, they probably will drop special releases for the AM1,90,95,97,0,BW and maybe even for the 96 and the TNs, because TNs are not FL exclusive anymore, the contract is expired since this year so Nike can now sell TNs at NDC if they want to
 
Local sneaker fest near me next month and hoping to get lucky on some 97s. Either vac tech midnight fog or OG silver would do nicely!
