my hair was already pretty long... about 9 inches... it shriveled up and i'm looking like Wale when he made 100 Miles and Running.

anybody else in here locked up (hair wise)?

give me some positive reinforcement to sttay the jouney...

no picz... i haz embarrass...

ALSO:... what's the best way to keep it up? and how do i keep my edge up from going all the way back...

i see cats w/ a full inch of faded hair in the front... and i DONT want that...

you got twisties bruh? i just always assumed you looked like lil b  go forth and get those flocka groupie yambs

It's because your hair is still juicy and she probably twisted it extra tight. Probably more than who did em before.

Might wanna just get your twist braided if you don't like how the look meantime.

From experience (had dreads in HS), get your shape up before you hit up your re-twist lady

Dudes be getting their hair dont and then wanna sit in the chair

Barber might push you back like Stephen A

don't do that front fade ****, it looks stupid

I'm locked up, for the second time. it's best to start from a really small fro instead of starting them when your hairs already long. **** them natural twists too, I had those the first time I tried to lock. stained my pillowcase :smh:

3. Find a chick that can do it on the regular for cheap.  I don't go to a salon and the girl that has done my hair years kinda has a relationship with my dreads

Do you fellas with dreads find additional difficulties in obtaining employment?

Real Talk: I wanna get them too. I just dont know where to start.
Im Latin, light skinned, I have super short hair right now.
1 on the sides with a fade, faux hawk on top.
I like switching it up, i was thinking something like this dude   No Bromo

The early stage isn't as bad as people make it seem. At least for me.

As silly as it looks I think the fade/dread combo leads to keeping ones hairline intact. At the very least it won't speed up the process due to the weight from your locs pulling on it. But it's all hereditary...always wearing hats, braids, locs ect can speed up the process

Faried's locs are too small imo.

Pic is about 2 years old. I wish mine were a little bigger.

^ Pics of the last shorty you smashed?
Buuuuuuurn

^yes.
why i don't have them now.
I have a job, but I'm looking to make moves.

I always thought dreads, when neat and maintained, looked so dope and clean... fresh edge w/ da dreads pulled back all evenly just looks more clean than a fade to me, no sandusky...

Like facial hair... a well trimmed beard stands out more than a fresh face b/c it takes more work and shows attention to detail.

I think I seen you post before about long hair in the workplace ... aren't you an engineer or something? How did you go about a job search?

Some say its a problem, others say its not. I believe if your hair is long like yours, its not a factor.

Also, I think mine are a little larger than yours. Why do you want them bigger?

And lastly, when I go get them done, do they twist the dread all the to the end, or just the root. I've seen some cats where just the root is twisted and it looks like a sharpened pencil: tiny at the beginning then widens out.

Most important tip one can give when it comes to dreads.

I've had them for the past 9 years. My last hair cut was the summer before my senior year in high school, and I graduated in '01.

I think Im going to cut them all off this weekend. Its time for a change, they begin to define your life once they really get long. You have to change your sleep patterns, decide when you're going to wash it, if you have time to dry it. Just a lot more thought than it seems, especially if you're really trying to keep them looking decent 24/7.

I wish you well.

I'm thinking about the cut too man.  Had mine for 4 years now

growing my hair out for dreads now...

My last boss had dreads.. she always kept them very well maintained and styled them nicely. Made me wonder if they're more acceptable in the workplace on females

anybody talking about you can't get bishes is a moron or a moron.
there's too many options.
you could get em braided
