Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain | A Hideo Kojima Game

I agree with what Hybrid is saying about some of these tapes need to be cutscenes and have dedicated time to them.  I mean it helps with visuals when hearing about the cloning program 10 years ago.  I remember listening to that tape, I literally had to stop what I was doing in mission, and pay attention.  **** was deep.

But on the other hand I can see why they changed it, you're constantly immersed in the game, no time to stop anymore for codec/radio conversations, blame the ADD gamers.  In MGS IV, what was the complaint?  Too many movies, too much dialogue, story too convulsed.  Gameplay still one of the best of last generation.  How did they fix those complaints, put the story and the dialogue in optional cassette tapes.  The cutscenes I've seen have been great so far.
Mission after getting the kids
getting away from Fire dude again.  I was so confused how to get through this part.  This was the first time in the game I was really challenged.

If you've gotten to this part, then you already know, that upright metal gear already made a couple appearances. :wow:
One complaint I have is on main missions, Hideo puts who's involved in the mission, "Featuring: The Skulls" "Skull Face"  I like to just browse the iDroid while all that is going on, so I don't stumble upon a spoiler

Episode 8

How am I suppose to destroy these tanks?

They made it back to the base

Should I start over?

I agree is the tapes suck, but if this thing was cut scene heavy, we would prob be complaining that we spend to much time watching movies and not playing the game

First time I tried this mission they got all the way to the part where the caverns are and I died like 20 times

...first and only time I was offered the damn chicken hat.

Rank S on 1st mission.

I'm awe struck. Game is incredible. Incredibly detailed. Just kept shaking my head at the enemies Snake has. Lol

I do think the overall mechanics of the game are good. It's entertaining to @!@# around the enemy bases and create chaos. The controls are 100x better than the outdated MGS4 ones. After a while you need something more. The story is what sucks. Mission after mission of meaningless quests (that the game makes you repeat in order to get the ending...) . Dudes in here are in denial though. Every single site that gave the game a good review has said the gameplay is very good, the story is weak/non existent (no idea how this ends up making the game a 9-10...). To me, the story matters more than the gameplay. For example, Mass Effect games are average 3rd person shooters when it comes to gameplay, but the story and characters are what created so many fans of the game (same as the older MGS games with their clunky controls and horrible camera angles ).

MGS4's story might have been doing way too much, but I appreciated the effort put into it.

Haven't played a Mgs game since 3 I think.. Worth playing if I haven't played since then?

Does the bond make a difference? I had full bonding with DD but didn't notice any difference between when I got him and how he was at the end of the game. I used him the whole game BTW :pimp:

I finally got this game and i finished that long intro part and the game went to installing game data with 507 seconds remaining but hasn't changed for the last 5 minutes.

has anybody else experienced this? Is it trying to download from the internet or from the disc?

well after a quick google search seems to be a common problem :smh:

on to troubleshooting a game i just picked up :smh:

It does with Quiet for sure. When you first use her she's pretty flakey and she doesn't have all her commands. When her bond was low with me she would just disappear at times and show back up to get on the chopper at the end of various missions, even after I told her to scout/attack a base

As her bond gets bigger it does a few things, first you'll get some new animations on the battlefield and in the chopper, next it will allow you to unlock all of her weapons/abilities/costumes since bond level is the big thing that stops this, mainly it will make her AI work about 100x better than when you first got her. She'll spot enemies/hostages much faster, and once you get the "cover me" command she will do work on everyone on the battlefield. It's especially helpful when you have to deal with enemies that must be tranqed. I can just sit back and have her put everyone to sleep. in fact that's how I beat

Eli/Liquid

because she just tranqed the **** out of him as soon and the battle started

I think a lot of people/reviewers didn't put the time in with her and stayed with DD the whole time. I appreciate DD for his spotting abilities but Quiet has 80% of that AND can kill/tranq everyone without giving you the alert status.

Me personally, I enjoy this game and think its great. I didn't really play much of the other Metal Gears and I'm not big on how plots or stories are in video games I come from the good ole contra, double dribble, double dragon days where you just played to have fun. Who cares about some story telling blah blah blah I'm not watching a movie or a soap box i'm playing a video game for fun! I find it rewarding just sneaking around sniping dudes heads off or even just going through destroying everything without care. To me its like a way better version of Hitman.

IMO, if you just want good game mechanics and want fun to past time and enjoy doing whatever you want in an open world its worth it. If you are some die hard MGS fanboy that dissects everything about a game to story, game play, how it ties in to the others etc. You might want to wait on it.

I had this issue when I first copped. I couldn't play pass the prologue, I restarted and let it install a few more minutes then I was fine.
