I hadn't been on NikeTalk for a few weeks and was just reading some post and I just felt like venting. Especially after i saw a post were some clowns were cutting threads from under the insole of their 4's, in an attempt to correct quality issues,LOL.

Just strolling down memory lane and remembering the good ole days, this is for the..........

The guys who actually had "OG's" when they were first released.

The guys who didn't complain about creases.

The guys who knew that these shoes are suppose to be enjoyed and worn.

The guys who have actually beat a pair of J's before.

The guys who remember strolling into the shoe store a week after release, debating on whether or not to cop, then saying I'm think on it, then return the next day and buy, lol.

The guys who remember when you could literally get snatched out your J's,lol.

The who remember that if you missed a release date you just moved on because Eastbay was sure to have some left and pairs of the prior release would be available on the red trimmed pages in the next catalog.

The guys who laugh at most of these post.

The guys who actually hooped or played flag football or sandlot, in these O' so holy shoes(LOL).

If this post goes well I'll post a few pics of some beaters that most people would die to have. including the grapes that i feed the dogs in, LOL.

Dont forget

-The guys who used to buy the Jordans from a year are two back for $19.99 via Eastbay catalog

-The guys who remembered the Nike ads with the phone number and the single picture of the shoe against the white background

-The guys who remember that the new Jordans always dropped around the All Star Game

-The guys who remember that the home and away colorways dropped at the same time

-The guys who remember a new Jordan colorway was coming out because it showed up in Eastbay with that starbust

-The guys who remembered that few actually hooped in their Jordans back in the day because they cost so much

Word. Things aren't the way they used to be. I trashed my very first pair ("All Star XIIs"). Loved that shoe. I wore it everyday and played ball in it. I don't know what it is these days.

Perhaps it's greed. Given that we know we can actually resell and get most of our money back. We couldn't imagine this way back when.

I think that idea alone has driven this "game" to what it is today. It is a sad thing. However, the strategy that JB has put into place is simple genius. At this point there is no coming back either. As long as they got us fooled, they will rake in more and more profit every year.

Stay in your lane newb
Nobody paid $120 for laney's back then, everybody was coppin them on clearance
Lol, I was kind of lost on that one for a minute to, 120, maybe with taxes and some socks or a hat, lol. But I remember you could only hope for atleast one pair of Jordans a year, but Air Max and Cortez(Ganster Nikes) would fly off the shelves.

how about the kids who use to get the sneakers because of the player (childhood idol)? Not just because it was the cool thing to wear

penny and griffey nike commercials

dee brown reebok pumps (in first grade i would pump up my sneakers thinking i would be a better basketball player  )

getting a pair of space jams at footlocker three days after release date in 2000...no lines, no wait...just walk in

I hate the term sneakerhead.
Understandable, but I use it to make a distinction. I don't consider myself a sneakerhead either, to be honest but i do love shoes, Jordan's, Air Max, Puma and especially casual and dress shoes!

And to prophecy: That was the thing if you idolized a player you only wore there shoes and jersey's. I remeber passing on alot of cool stuff because it was this player's team or gear and vice versa.

one time at ross I found nike zoom airs. 14 bucks, i bought two pairs

Great Song!! I still remember getting the infared Air Max 90's/3's when they first dropped....I made my dad get those for me and I still remember the look on his face when he saw that they were $110.....for some reason I remember that being the original price in 1990 but someone correct me if I am wrong.....

You're probably right on the that price with tax included. Air Max were always kind of pricey unless they were sub-models.

I hate the term sneakerhead.

I didn't really like the term either but most people these days are called that word. I usually told friends and people I was a collerctor.
But I do remember those days going in after release day and still being able to get a pair of Nike's or Jordan's.

But those days are gone now. Maybe for good, who knows? Hopefully one day it will die down and maybe people will focus on better things than re-selling shoes.

Yo no lie, i swear to god, i copped the following shoes all at Nike outlet:

French 7s (04? i think) $25.99
Olive 9s (same time i think) $19.99
Air Jordan black/gold 1s Patent leather $9.99 (detroit footlocker)
and i still rememeber the cement 3s being only 110....
Im only 27 so first pair of OGs for me were the 13s. Also copped at some outlet in Toronto.

-I CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE SELLING/BUYING OLIVE 9s for 300+ its mind blowing to me.

-I miss lining up, this raffle/ticket thing is bs.

It is kinda funny how much hype Olive 9's get

Nobody gave a damn about them back then

Back then when the OGs were known simply as "Air Jordan" or the "new air jordans" when they first released and last years were called "last years air jordan" or the "old air jordans". No nicknames or numbers or roman numerals attached to it

I remember when you could cop Jordans as an impulse buys.

I copped the IXs in 01'(IIRC), in a 13, well after release, after walking buy them in the store for a few weeks.

I remember back in the day you got straight roasted for wearing the old colorways of the current Air Jordan. the new colorways were the only "new Jordans" and everything else was old and uncool. My how times have changed...

Nothing last forever....once it hits the mainstream and commercialization takes over, it's a wrap.

All you have left is memories and nostalgia.....It won't ever be the same, some were in it for the love....others for the money.

I was fortunate to grow up in the 90's and watch Mike play and experience the "golden era." It's pathetic these days.
